Most honest mechanic I have ever found I even asked him to look over newer car I bought would have cost 40. He let me know he could but he my car with it's very low miles & car fax showing all oil changes done at dealer should be just fine & it is, saved me 40. Jim is great and he's close to my work. Sometimes I wander off and try to find someone close to home (so I can go on weekends) but I keep coming back to Jim's because the other guys always screw me over. Last time, the other guy made me spend almost $500, come back three times and the problem kept coming back. The check engine light went off immediately. I called the other guy to ask WTF and the other guy said he didn't have "sophisticated" enough technology to recognize the error code. I mean... don't try to "guess" and make me spend money if you don't know the problem! I took it to Jim's ONCE and he figured out the problem right away and fixed it. The other guy even had the nerve to call me and ask what the problem was! Jim's always friendly and upfront. Truly an honest mechanic once again. My husband brought his car and thinking it was the transmission, but Jim's mechanics took their time looking it over and figured out it was electrical. What a reliable, trustworthy, honest, auto repair shop. I took my car to the dealership for an oil change and was told I needed some work done to my vehicle because the power steering and the oil were leaking. All in all, it was going to cost me approximately $6,000. My husband and I decided to get a second opinion because $6,000 was a lot of money. Our search led us to Jim's Reliable Auto. He and the front desk lady were very nice and professional. After receiving their quote, it took us about three weeks (to wrap my mind around paying such a huge amount, especially during the holiday) to drop off my car. Five days later, I got a call letting me know that my car was ready for pick up and can you believe I was told that my oil wasn't leaking. The only problem was my power steering fluid. I have to thank my son for sending me here. I recently moved to this area and had a problem with a loose catalytic shield. I originally set up an appointment with Honda in Schaumburg, IL. The wanted to charge me $300, even though I told them it was just the shield. My Honda dealer said they would put a clamp on for $20.
