This is the perfect "backup" restaurant. It's nothing spectacular, but the food is good and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I came here with my husband on a Saturday morning after we realized that our favorite brunch spot was packed. At Jim's we were seated right away, and even though there were lots of people, it was fairly quiet because the layout is spacious. Hubby ordered the chicken sandwich, my four year old got the silver dollar pancakes and I got the Texas omelette and they let me sub the toast for a pancake. It was so good! Wow ! yummy. Righteous. I have been there twice and I'll be honest, I think i'm going to visit them again in about 15 minutes (5am on a sunday morning) last time I ordered a breakfast platter. This time I am going to embrace their tex-mex dishes. We like Jims but they are inconsistent during the weekdays. They took my favorite thing off the menu but i can still order it: Ham & Swiss grilled sandwich! We do appreciate one woman who works at nights, she is so sweet and from my home town back in California! When she's not there though, it's just okay. Also I took my mom here when she was visiting and the fries were undercooked & dessert was mushy. I felt bad! (the newer location further North on research is better with desserts) Sunday lunch time though, WOW!! It blew our minds--everything cooked perfectly! Came here the other night at 1am on a lunch break. Unfortunately, choices for food are limited at that hour. The service was friendly, & very attentive (our waitress stopped by our table several times- almost too much, but I'm not complaining). We go our food moving right away and it arrived rather quickly. She got my order right, even though I am one of those customers that always substitutes a bunch of things! The food is where I am not impressed. I understand this is your average diner. I guess I was just hoping for more from a local establishment. I ordered an egg white veggie omelette, with a side of grits and rye toast. My friends were appalled to find out I'd never eaten at Jim's. When we pulled in I realized I'd passed by a few times but never stopped. I'd no clue that Jim's was a diner. I ordered a double burger and some fries. I'm a creature of habit and nothing else ever seems appealing in these establishments. My husband and I eat here frequently, as we live fairly close to the restaurant. We have, to date, ordered the Chicken Club Salad, which was so large, we ordered one to go and took home and were both sufficiently full! Very tasty! We have also ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes on numerous occasions and they are HUGE. The breakfast was completely tasty, and I would recommend those pancakes to any and everyone. I have also had the pleasure of their grilled cheese sandwiches and they are also really good. I end up here at least once a month, usually after a really long run or when I'm super hungry. You shouldn't go to Jim's without an appetite on you, though you can always order a la carte if you really can't deal with a full breakfast. But why would you? For under $10, you can get yourself all the eggs, bacon, biscuits, grits, hashbrowns, and pancakes you could want in some combination. Honestly, I never plan on eating for the next 10 hours after a trip to this place. Their coffee is medium-strong. Their waitresses are all congenial. At 2am this place is rocking. At noon on the weekends it's packed. It's my alternative when Vasquez next door has no room in their parking lot. I want to bring a card game next time - some people bring their newspapers, or laptops. This is a place to sit and think (or not) and definitely a good place to sit and have a conversation. We had a pleasant meal experience at this location. The menu offered a nice selection of items very reasonably priced especially if you're on a budget. The cheese soup was to die for, just mouthwateringly delicious! I really enjoyed my vegetable omelet and my side of fruit was fresh. My husband thought is burger was just okay though, the patty being a little dry. Parts of the restaurant were slightly worn and in need of some remodeling. We heard about this place from a few of our friends. They mentioned it many times and we never even considered coming here before because of the state of the outside. However, we were happily surprised! I'll only be talking about the service and my breakfast. The service: Upon entry we were warmly greeted by Nena, who, as fate would have it, was also our waitress. We were seated promptly, with menus on the table waiting for us. Within 5 minutes, our drink orders were taken, and served, and within ten minutes after that our orders for breakfast were taken and served. Nena was sweet! So sweet, in fact, that I had to ask her for her name on the way out because I felt inspired to write this review! Top marks, Nena! Top marks! The breakfast: I ordered the Jim's waffles with strawberries and whipped cream on top, and upgraded to the platter. The waffle was SO DELICIOUS. Crispy on the outside, just the right amount of moisture on the soft inside. The strawberry topping came out hot! What the whaaaaa?! It was SO GOOD that I didn't even want the syrup that was offered! My eggs were served exactly as I ordered them which has been proven difficult at a lot of restaurants: scrambled hard. The only thing I can think of that I didn't like as much as everything else was the bacon. It tasted like bacon, but there was an undertone of flavor. It was a little like some sort of rubber. I think changing the bacon brand would be the answer to fixing that, though. It doesn't seem like that flavor could be cooked into the bacon. But it was still good. Thank you Jim's cooks!! He might change his up next time, but he likes hos biscuits and gravy and I like the rustlers roundup. As far as service, you never know what you're going to get. Our last breakfast, even though our waitress took care of us very well that bisy Sunday morning, the other staff looked very disorganized and disgruntled. If we had waited for a table rather than walking to the bar I think our service and experience there that morning would have been a completely opposite review. But prices are good. Good ol' fasion diner. No frills, just a decent family diner. I like thier breakfast and a bowl of chilli with lunch. Servers and staff are nice and they remember you the second time you walk in, but they sometimes bicker with eachother behind the counter (but they're always nice to customers), which can be funny or annoying depending on my/your mood. read more

This locations manager,Rosa, is lazy and rude. The waitress,Brit, took the order and did not take it right, appetizers were never delivered. When the manager ,,Rosa was brought to the attention of the problem, she stated she would call cops because she is a poor manager. The salad I ordered was full of water. Two burgers were not prepared properly. The third order was a steak, never asked how it was needed to be prepared, manager told waitress that was Willing to fix orders to leave it alone she was there to not help and that is was not her station. Services was beyond poor and management was asked for owner's name and number and refused to give info. Still have not received info. This is the worst service ever! This place has severely deteriorated. They have a gnat infestation and I couldn't eat my food for swatting them away. I left my meal and really shouldn't have paid for it. The waitress says yeah, "we have spray but it's pretty strong" Then you need to shut down and take care of that. Because it is gross. It was 8:58 p.m., according to my phone records, and I asked her how long did she think it would take to be finished. She replies 15 to 20 minutes. Sounds about right to me at that time of night. So 30 minutes later my friend is there to pick it up. She's told it would be about 10 minutes and was given the bill and total to pay. She gave a generous enough tip (over 20%) and took a seat to wait. She arrives with the order, and I live less than 10 minutes away, at 10:20 p.m. I was a little upset at the delay but was looking forward to my breakfast for dinner. Not!! The vegetables in my omelet were so rancid that I couldn't eat it so I move on to the sausage gravy and biscuits, or should I say half-baked half-microwaved hockey pucks. They have the best biscuits but I don't know what these were. My daughters Country Fried Steak had no gravy, to boot. Very disappointed in the hospitality, timeliness and quality of food overall. I hope this is an isolated incident, and that management sees this and notes which staff members worked this shift. Even the most loyal of customers won't stay long for this. And Just a thought: Why did she have to PAY BEFORE the food was even there to check the order? Do they make dine-in customers pay before the food gets there, and tip? I know they don't. I have been going to Jim's for over 25 years. Now that I'm a little older, I really appreciate the ability to change the menu if I need to. They have several keto friendly choices, and are one of the only diners that don't add ingredients to eggs to make them fluffy that are not keto friendly.....IHOP adds pancake batter to theirs, for instance. They have always offered great service, and the restaurants are usually clean and the food comes out fast! read more

This will be another short review because I can't come up with anything negative to say about this establishment. Our favorite time to be here is late-night. The servers have all always been friendly, the food quality & selection good, and it is served quickly despite the type of meals they focus on require time to cook. An added bonus about this place is that it's not just the employees that are friendly. Even the clientele in our experience always seem to be folks in a good mood. Despite their classic atmosphere, they even have free wi-fi. I liken Jim's to the 20th (and now 21st) Century equivalent to the old Inn Common Rooms back when people hung around for great food & socialization; or the Classic 50's Family Joint that many people lament being lost... but not here! :) read more
