I got a digital perm and haircut. Jina told me that it would cost $350, so I presumed that the cut was included, but at the end she told me the haircut was an ADDITIONAL $100. I already thought $350 was a bit much because I have really thin and short hair, so if I knew it was going to be that much more for a haircut I definitely would not have gotten it, considering I had just gotten a haircut last month. Anyways, I like the results and Jina is nice, but the price and the fact that she didn't say anything about the haircut being $100 is ridiculous. read more

I've been looking for a Korean salon since moving to Irvine, pictures and positive reviews from various platform led me to give Jina a try. I was aware of a few outlier experiences from other customers, but as with all things I know that one or two exceptions do not immediately invalidate good service. So, I was comfortable and excited to see if Jina can help me achieve the oppa look that my fiancé believes is integral to my appearance. To start off, the salon is situated in what appears to be a mega salon building with different individual beauty businesses residing in each of the offices. Each office space has one or two chairs, and is fully equipped to handle pretty much all the hair styling needs one is looking for. Jina's store was bright in lighting, clean, organized with a touch of pleasing fragrance. Upon arrival, Jina kindly greeted me, introduced herself, and we began discussing what type of hairstyle I was looking for. I showed her a few saved posts from Instagram, your usual Park Seo-Jeons and Cha Eun-woos. Jina nodded in understanding and started examining my hair/face shape before giving her inputs about how we can approach it. This was especially important to me because I personally prefer to know what's going on so I can work with my stylist, instead of sitting quietly and praying for the best. Jina, to my surprise, self-learned Mandarin in addition to being fluent in Korean and English, which helped with communicating the nuances of the cut and general small talk. After the cut, Jina helped wash and condition my hair before styling it with blowdryer and wax. She also proactively shared techniques to style and maintain the hairstyle as close to the pictures as possible. Overall, Jina was friendly, professional, and skillful. Price was understandable from a complex cut/procedure perspective. Tldr - Friendly stylist, skillful cut, ample parking, reasonable price for the ask, would come again. read more

I have two preteen boys and one brother- we have been coming to Jina for our haircuts ever since. She works alone in a small shop and she really pays attention to detail! It is no wonder she is always booked for the entire day! For me, i come here to get my hair dyed. I have been getting my hair bleached for about 5 years now- I believe this will be my 6th year of bleaching and color treating my hair. Jina does wonders! She introduced this hair color to me when I first made an appointment for hair color and I absolutely love how she perfectly bleaches and colors my hair perfectly! I notice some ppl complaining about her not giving them enough time- but you should know Jina is almost always fully booked. When you walk into Sola Salon, there was a directory to find her name and which suite she is located at. Jina was prompt and worked right away after showing her a picture of the cut I wanted. I would give 0/10 if I could, never returning to this salon and would not recommend. The cut was horrible that I ended up going to another salon immediately after this one to get it fixed, paying double the price, but not only that the owner/stylist was extremely impatient, disrespectful, and I have never been to a place like this one. First, the hair stylist saw my hair that was permed and colored at home, and made nonstop comments about it looking really bad, which I thought was super disrespectful. Then, because I was late for 10 minutes, she told me WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME and we need to cut immediately before I could decide on how to cut my hair. Now thinking of it, definitely a red flag there... Throughout the cut, she was really rough, barely paid attention to the hair and immediately rushed to cut it short and within 10 minutes says she is done... when I asked her to fix the sides because it was really thick and looks horrible, she persisted to say it looked fine and the entire time I felt rushed and super uncomfortable. She was fixing because I said the sides are not even close to being even but she continued to rush and said where else do you need me to fix... She had such an impatient and mean demeanor. Meanwhile, there is nobody waiting at this time and her next customer did not come until half an hour later. The haircut at the end made me look way old and had absolutely no style, tasteless, and she overcharges. Immediately after I left this place, I had it recut at the salon at Jamboree plaza. All in all, stay away from this place. Nobody should ever feel like this at a salon. read more

This is mostly because she couldn't even take the time to properly listen to what I wanted. But the worst part was the attitude of the staff, it is as if they were doing me a favor by allowing me to be there. Very bad service extremely rude hair stylist. She gave me a huge cut and charged me 700 for a really ugly purple color. She will also try to keep upselling you by telling you about her hair treatment that cost 900+, and once you say turn it down, she will persist to sell you other products. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Jina gave me my first perm about two weeks ago now, and enough time has passed for me to say that it turned out great! I was really skeptical at first since my hair was way curlier than I would have liked immediately after getting it permed, but after the first shower it had loosened up to the waviness that I had wanted. Trust the process, if you get permed it's always better after the first shower (but you have to wait 48 hours). I think this is the best my hair has ever looked. The perm added much more volume and personally to my otherwise naturally bowl-cut flat hair and all I do to style it is get it wet and let it air dry. Jina is also really nice and will let you watch stuff on her TV while she's working on your hair. Honestly, if you have Asian hair I highly recommend coming here at least once. read more
