We had a party of seven come in on a Monday evening. The wait was an hour so we went to the bar on the rooftop. We got sat ASAP and it was absolutely gorgeous at sunset. Our server was busy but with the help of other workers we got what we needed. I ordered the special grouper with lobster sauce and mashed potatoes. It was so freaking good I would have licked my plate if I wasn't in public. Everyone else enjoyed their food. All seven of us had only good things to say. We also got the bang bang shrimp appetizer and it was gone in seconds. Even the coleslaw under was gone. Full bar makes for a lengthy drink menu including blended pina coladas. We drove about 30 minutes from North Myrtle Beach so the first heads up I'll give you is if you're coming in during rush-hour, most likely on Friday afternoon or maybe even a Saturday be aware that it's gonna take a little extra time to get over the bridge. I was joined for dinner by my wife and daughter, and we sat on the upstairs deck for outside dining, which was fantastic with a wonderful view of the marshes and the setting sun. We each had something different and I must say thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the grouper and shrimp which was prepared to perfection over some basmati rice. My daughter had the crabcakes which were also prepared well and contained a sufficient amount of lump crab meat. My wife who doesn't eat seafood, had the chicken cavatappi which was very creamy and the chicken was tender. As the driver and someone who doesn't drink, I was glad to see that there were several nonalcoholic special drink options, including two nonalcoholic beers on the menu. When we arrived, we learned that there was a live musician, which is something that we all enjoy, especially in an outside atmosphere on such a beautiful night, but I will say that we felt that the volume of the music was a little loud to enjoy any type of conversation during our meal. During the breaks, they played house music over the stereo at the volume where we could easily speak to each other across the table. All in this was a very enjoyable night with well prepared food, and a great atmosphere. Maybe just dial down the live music to the volume of the house music - only recommendation. read more

We enjoyed our fine dining experience here. It is suitable for kids and adults. We were told it would be about a 30 minute wait but we'd get a call when our table was ready. When asked how long we had to get to the restaurant after the call, neither host wasn't able to answer the question. We walked down the road to shop while waiting. We got the call in less than 30 minutes and hurried back. The decor was simple but unique, and included over 30 plants and flowers throughout the restaurant. The restaurant had kids' menus for the kiddos, which was great! They had pictures to color and tic tac toe! One kid ordered chicken tenders and fries and the other ordered grilled cheese and fries. We ordered the shrimp appetizer to split, a Caesar salad to split, the shrimp risotto and the mahi mahi and shrimp entree. The shrimp appetizer was slightly lacking on the amount of sauce, but was good nonetheless. When they brought our salad, they also brought out the kids' food which was nice of them! The French fries with the kid meals were great, and both kids ate until they were full! I had the a taste of the mahi mahi and it was well seasoned but a bit lacking as there was no sauce on it to enhance the flavors. The shrimp risotto was served in a lobster cream sauce. It was delicious but very rich! The kids loved the idea of edible flowers with the adult meals! Another great meal al fresco at Jinks. Got there for sunset and the weather was nice but crazy windy! Our server was good, and kept up with our drinks. Went here twice for dinner within a week. First dining experience was great. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the fried shrimp, the shrimp pasta, and the Philly cheese steak. Fried shrimp was amazing. Almost tasted like New England Fried Clams with the breading. Shrimps were seasoned and very juicy. The fries were really good too with the seasoning. The shrimp pasta was great too; the shrimps were cooked to perfection and the pasta al dente. Very garlicky which I love. The cole slaw was not good. I didn't have the cheese steak, but the person who did said it was possibly the best he's ever had in his life! Second dining experience wasn't as great. We had a rickety table out on the gazebo. I had the New England Clam Chowder and it was insanely salty. This spot is probably hit or miss for the food. The ambiance is one of the main reasons to come here. For me and my family, our 2 week beach vacation would not be the same without multiple visits to Jinx. Whether we are staying at Ocean Isle beach or Holden, we still make sure to have dinner there each week. I personally always get the steak and crab cake, which is delicious, while my family dines on all of the other dinner options, which they all brag about how delicious their plates are, and then never share. From the Oysters as an appetizer, to the main course and dessert, hands down the service is impeccable and the ambiance is exceptional. I love seating outside and looking at the waterway. When you see the photos attached, I can guarantee your mouth is going to water! I give it 5 stars, and I would give it 5 more if they allowed! read more

Some are calling it the worst restaurant in Ocean Isle and I think they make a strong case. Let me start by saying that the food is absolutely OK and that they have terrible hours. The service and ambiance dovetail to make for an unsavory experience. Allow me to be expound: I arrived with a party of five for festive libations. Upon arrival on the oven-like deck, we were told we could stay as long as we stood behind the "paying customers." As we intended to soon be counted among that elite class, we took our business elsewhere and were better off for it. Please allow me to restate that their outdoor seating is reminiscent of an oven. This will be a long review and I am typically a very positive person, but had to say something. We wanted a good place to eat after renewing our vows on the beach. My husband called for a reservation earlier in the day. The person who answered said, "I don't think you will need one. In fact, it is so dead tonight that we may close at 8pm." We went that night. To summarize issues: *PARKING: I handicapped and use a scooter. There is no proper handicapped spot with spaces to unload. The handicapped space marked was blocked off by flower pots by people who drive golf carts. We moved the flower pot and parked there to unload. *ATMOSPHERE: We sat inside. Our server seemed less than thrilled to be there and had a constant frown. She didn't come back to fill water, ask if we needed another drink, etc. Even though we were dressed in our white dress clothes from our ceremony, there was no acknowledgement of our special night. For $50 per head, we expected more. (We can't blame the restaurant, but parents allowed their screaming toddler to throw food across the room.) *FOOD/PRICE: People had praised the local chef. We found the food rather tasteless and portions were ridiculous for the price. 6 shrimp on angel hair pasta....4 total lobster ravioli...all ala carte with choice of sides ends up over $50 per head. A basic, watered down specialty drink was $14. Overall, we were looking for a romantic place to celebrate our night and could have found better service and atmosphere at a local bar. Went with wife and step son for dinner. Wife is dairy free and has gluten allergy - I am diabetic and have tree nut allergy.... Always fun for waitstaff when we show up!!!! Wife had the blackened mahi and shrimp without Cajun sauce (glutinous), I had same with sauce on the side. Son had the shrimp and grits. Mahi was good but over cooked and we felt perfect seasoning. Shrimp was done just right - Cajun sauce was good. Shrimp and grits were also tasty. Several other things looked good. Non gluten options weren't as plentiful as we would have liked but it's consistent with this area. Service was ok. We waited for quite awhile for the food and rechecks. The restaurant wasn't that busy so I don't know if it was our staff being inattentive or an issue with the restaurant. Prices were ok. A bit more expensive than competition but they are trying to position themselves above other restaurants in the area - - Ambiance was bland - everything is white. They do have a great view over the waterway which is nice but near to and during sunset the sun shines right in the windows and they have to close the blinds - kinda neuters the view during the optimal time...... Kids would be ok here. They do have a table outside which would be nice to sit at. I believe you have to ask for that one in a reservation- looked to sit 6. So - it's fine. Where is the health score? Not posted in the open, The light in the toilet is on a timer and turned off while I was still going, wtf. For our 1hour meal they moved furniture upstairs for 25 mins, so annoying, if you are prepping for a band or large group pick up the tables or set them up before the dining room gets busy, common sense is no longer common. The food was okay, the service was challenged, but the drinks were good. So all in all a middle of the road experience, had the furniture experience not have thrown a wet rag on our first visit maybe a 3.5. I had a lot of expletives in this review but, lol I Would go back but keep your expectations low, low standards in expectations of staff, service, and common sense, but the view is amazing at Sunset. read more

The older woman at the hostess stand was rude when we walked in, made it seem as if she was bothered to seat us even though we had a large party reservation at 7 pm. We were taken to the table and sat there for 20-25 min without anyone acknowledging us. No "hey sorry we're busy it might be a few minutes", no "hey can i get you a water, we're busy", nothing. Overall pretty disappointed with this place. It's no wonder it was one of the few restaurants without a wait on a Saturday night on a holiday weekend. I thought I'd splurge and treat myself to "Jewels of the Sea" thinking it would be fresh considering our proximity to the ocean but the crab tasted like it had just come from the can. I will say the scallops were excellent and the shrimp was good but the sauce was bland and definitely left something to be desired. One member of our party didn't receive her dish until nearly everyone had finished and the waitress (who was otherwise friendly) didn't seem too bothered by this. Some dishes are okay/good, others are meh, some just barely worth eating. Drinks are also lacking - the cocktail we got was straight up a mixture of juices and barely (if any) alcohol. Beer list is short but at least tastier than the cocktails. The tuna app was pretty bad...chewy and stale. The lobster ravioli was pretty tasty, however the shrimp was overcooked. The fried fish and sweet pitt fries were decent. Service was pretty slow on general. It took awhile to get seated even with reservations. Same thing with getting the check. PSA- they blast the AC indoors to the point where it was uncomfortably cold inside, so bring a jacket if your get cold easily. read more

It took 4 years, but we gave Jink's another try. We had a great experience this time, I am happy to report. The host was friendly and he offered us a table on the gazebo. We had a relatively new server, but she did a great job. We had the grilled flatbread for an appetizer and the cavatappi pasta for our main course. We didn't have drinks or dessert but the menu looked great. We had a very nice evening. First time visit, but won't be the last. Jinks has one of the best views around, and the upstairs bar area is definitely where you want to be. Unfortunately it was a bit chilly and cloudy so we didn't get the full impact of outdoor dining or sunsets, but maybe next time. There was six of us, and no complaints about the food at all. I had the power salad with shrimp, which was plentiful and served with a generous portion of shrimp. Other entrees included swordfish, which my friend said was best she's ever had, shrimp with cappellini and flatbread. The flatbread was a bit lukewarm but my friend enjoyed it nonetheless. We had drinks at the bar first and I enjoyed a coconut ginger concoction that was delicious and perfect for a tea totaler like me. Our server, although inexperienced, was pleasant and eager to please. Would highly recommend this place as a wonderful lunch spot, so you get to enjoy the view! The atmosphere inside is a bit cold and uninspiring, almost like a cafeteria, but if you can get past that this is a worthwhile spot to indulge your love of seafood. read more
