This is the best Chinese restaurant in the country. I live in New York City and the Chinese food there does not compare to this restaurant. I think about it at least once per week, which is really saying something because I tend to focus a lot on thinking about my problems -- but my thoughts of this restaurant are one of the few things that are powerful enough to break through. I order three things the pepper steak, Mongolian beef and subgum wonton they all were bland and seem to have the same flavor. The prices on the menu seem to be high on items that not normal usually Mongolian beef is more expensive than orange chicken as example but it's the opposite not that I like that item. Let me start off by saying I truly had high hopes for this place because it's so much closer to our home than the place we usually order from. Much to her surprise, the fried rice had onions, carrots and peas mixed into it and she said the rice and the chicken were really dry. She absolutely did not like it and she loves chicken fried rice. The service was good. They said it would be ready in 10 mins and it was ready in 7. The ambiance was good. Got carryout from this restaurant during the corona virus pandemic. We ordered sesame chicken, hunan chicken, and beef with broccoli. All dishes tasted very delish! The sesame chicken was my favorite! The sauce on the sesame chicken had amazing flavor. Also the chicken wasn't over breaded which many Chinese restaurants tend to do. Had another great dinner at Jin's over the weekend! I tried the lemon chicken this time and it wasn't bad. The chicken was breaded and the lemon sauce was a little sweet with a subtle hint of lemon. My mom got the cashew chicken again, and my dad got the shrimp with garlic sauce. My mom loved that her dish was loaded with vegetables and my dad thought the shrimp with garlic sauce had a mild spice even though it is marked spicy on the menu. Ok, so I was craving chinese for lunch so bad and decided to just give this place a shot since it's close. I'm being a bit rebellious today and decided to defy the reviews of friends saying this place was not that great; hoping they just happened to visit on a bad day. Upon going in, they did a great job with covering the place with plastic and a makeshift box to put your food in for pickup. I was wondering why on all of the different review sites, this restaurant had such varying ratings, many of them terrible. Unfortunately, I found out today. As I sit here, disgusted, wishing I'd never ordered from Jin's China King. By the way, the only thing this place is the "king" of is the worst Chinese food in the land. That's the only crown they wear. They're the closest Chinese place to my house so although I tried them a few years ago, and had just an okay to subpar experience, I had to give them another shot because they're literally less than a mile away. I tried: Wontons in spicy sauce, Shrimp egg foo young with gravy and fried rice, Amazing Chicken with fried rice, and an egg roll. The wontons (in spicy sauce) were so over-cooked that the Wonton Wrapper had become gelatinous. The filling was barely there (literally pea-sized!), the sauce had an okay flavor but because of the aforementioned problems was totally unenjoyable. The shrimp egg foo young patties themselves were half-decent but nothing special, the problem there was the gravy was gelatinous, not really even a gravy, next to tasteless, and totally useless. Also, the fried rice was mealy, underdone, and flavorless. That's right, a Chinese place that can't even cook fried rice!!! LOL The only "amazing" thing regarding the rubbery and bland "Amazing Chicken" was the fact that I found a 1 inch, cylindrical, black piece of something in there, that I had to spit out. I'm not even sure what it is. It looks like a humongous stem of some kind. Very off-putting to find that in my food (and mouth), and very surprising that any cook with half decent eyesight wouldn't have seen it and pulled it out. I guess they really just don't care...That theme is relatively obvious throughout the entire experience. As for the egg roll, I didn't try it and threw it away with the rest of the garbage I received. Too disgusted to continue to eat. What a waste! I think the only decent reviews of this place are coming from people unfamiliar with Chinese food in general, or just eating things like sweet and sour, General's, or sesame type dishes. Obviously, when you bread something, deep fry it, and drown it in a sweet and sour type sauce, it's easy to hide the true quality of the food and its preparation. I love food, I love Asian food, I love leaving great reviews and I wish I could do that here but please, for your own good, stay away from this place! Decided to pick up lunch here on Sunday, since lots of other Chinese places are closed until 3pm. Got the General Tso lunch special for $5.95 with won ton soup. Rice was fresh and not overly fried. The chicken itself was decent, and the sauce was an authentic General tso (not tasting of ketchup or BBQ like some other places in the area). Wonton soup was hot but somewhat bland. I've partaken of China King's fare many times before, for both lunch and dinner. I'm consistently impressed by the speed of their lunch specials, the size of their portions for the price, and the freshness of the ingredients. Their egg drop and hot and sour soup hasn't let me down once, nor has the restaurant's cleanliness nor the pleasantness of their staff. Today I ordered hot and spicy shrimp for take-away (with my usual number of pain-in-the-arse adaptations, which they handled with their usual cheerful aplomb. The chef actually came out and spoke with me to ensure she got it right.) The sauce on the shrimp and veggies had a lovely hot-sweet piquant vinegary bite, and coated everything perfectly without overwhelming it. Jin's is a solidly above average NY-style Chinese dine-in and carry out spot. One main advantage is that they stay open on the inside and carry-out until 10:30 most nights and 11:00 on Friday and Saturday. So we discovered this place when we wanted Chinese locally after most competitors had closed between 9:00-10:00. Their ABC (Almond Boneless Chicken), a Michigan favorite, was pretty good but indistinguishable from most other places. The General Tsao's Chicken, again pretty good, but the same could be said of it. Egg drop soup was hearty and the same as everywhere else. The chicken fried rice was also like a heavy dose of deja vu. OK I am noticing a trend here. Just to play Jin's advocate, I think I need to venture into other less mainstream dishes to really judge them. Portions and prices were competitive, and like most Oriental places they seem meticulous in packaging the correct items and details. I will say this - the interior of this place does look like the way some east coast Asian places look (think Denny's meets Chinese). So basically if you live really close to here and like the open later flexibility - this can be a reliable go-to.
