Haven't tried this place in a number of years. Decided to give it another try last night via Uber eats. Glad I did, was very happy with the meal. Here's the rundown of my order Steamed dumplings- these were tasty, and a good size, sometimes dumplings are on the small side. Not here Plain Lo mein- I'm a sucker for noodles and these were delicious Garlic Wontons- damn these were a surprise. Wasn't sure what I was getting but glad I placed the order. The sauce that came along with them was a great garlic soy, will order these again Orange beef- a great dish, beef was super crispy, and had a nice orange flavor Sesame chicken- nice large portion size, chicken was crispy too Almond Boneless- this was the only thing keeping Golden Bowl from getting 5*. I will never order from this place again. I placed a dinner order at 4:13 on Uber Eats for pickup at 6, and they waited until 6 o'clock to cancel my order when I arrived. I drove 25 minutes, and all they kept saying was that they didn't have my order. No resolution, no apology, nothing. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, even though I waited an hour and 50 minutes last year for my dinner, because I understand they're busy on Christmas. But they had two hours to cancel my order, and they did it as soon as I arrived. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Food was great ! Me and my mom tried it today for the first time . We had a craving lo mein . I got the chicken lo mein and the wonton soup. The lo mein was so good and I got a small proportion and it was still a good decent amount. The wonton soup was delightful , the broth was so good and not overly salty. This is the carryout review for the fried scallops and shrimp egg foo young combination plate: Definitely skip the scallops as they are small and there's a Chinese place on 26 and Jewell that does a MUCH better job. But for the egg foo young though, definitely a different story. It was excellent. I'm so happy this place has reopened to share more of their family recipes with us. My mom and I went here for lunch and it was so good! They have a plexiglass barrier in the lobby as well as hand sanitizer. The utensils and condiments came in plastic wrap. I got the veggie lo main lunch special and it came with with fried rice and an egg roll. The food was hot and fresh and had such good flavor and I didn't have to add extra soy sauce like other places. I also had to try to veggie dumplings and those were also amazing. We had to toss our meals. We ordered ABC and Garlic Beef medium spicy and both had no taste whatsoever. The egg rolls tasted like dirty dish water...no joke! Sad to say, our county does not have good Chinese food around town and who wants to wait when you're starving. You can't really go wrong with ABC now can you? Going here for years off and on; food is tasty, flavorful, never greasy, plentiful and satisfying. Not as expensive as others but a minimum credit card applies. We tried this place for New Year's Eve 2021 for the first time and although busy, needed extra time to service order, the food was excellent. Everybody at our full celebration got exactly what they were expecting and not a single complaint or gripe. Guess we just started a new tradition of Chinese food at celebrations and we will not go anywhere else. Old Golden Bowl was a 5 and amazing. New owners probably a 3 That rating is strictly comparing the original golden bowl. As for a typical Chinese place I called on a Friday at 4, possibly anticipating the long 2 hour wait as before. It was ready in 10 min. Which is typical. If you knew how it was before, you'd know that wasn't right. And they defended their wait time, because the food was made fresh (and it was obvious). New food: they lied. They said they would keep the old chefs sauce recipes . They did not. 100% false. Obviously, they do not have to. But that's pretty crappy they said they would and lied. Orders to compare to are: Almond Boneless Chicken, Chashew Chicken, and Orange Chicken. First of all, the fried rice was just gross. I hate this kind of fried rice. If you like the tasteless straight brown crap with no flavor and veggies like New moon, than you'll love it. The difference is they added a ton of soy sauce. I wish I got the white rice. But you ABC lovers, I am sorry. This was a travesty. My husband was so disappointed . The sauce was like a thin brothy soup. Before, it was the consistency like a gravy, and as he put it, "heavenly" and he could just drink it. It didn't look appetizing either, but I felt bad it was such a change from before. The Chashew Chicken wasn't bad. I would compare it to other Chinese places. What I liked is they gave more sauce, which I would normally prefer over white rice. The sauce was still different tasting from the previous owners, but not bad. I did not like how it was much saltier. Orange Chicken: right away it looked different. It was more red. The texture was pleasantly similar with that light crispy coating like before. But the flavor was a strange BBQ with a light orange twist (not spicy). It wasn't bad, but it wasn't expected. Overall if you want Chinese, it's Chinese and alright. I hate New moon. And I didn't hate this. But I didn't like it enough to crave it and order again. So if you think you're getting what you used to, you won't. If you have light expectations of americanized Chinese food (that you don't compare with before), than you will probably enjoy it. As for the place and staff: all were great and it was timely (which Most Americans appreciate). They did change/convert the front to a 100% permanet carryout . After driving past this gem for many years and always choosing the bigger Chinese restaurant across the street, we finally gave it a try. They did not disappoint. My husband was the one who went in for the menu, we looked at it in the car and he ran back in to order. In his words, the place was clean and the lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. I ordered Vegetable Lo Mein for the first time and it was very good! Yes, I branched out instead of ordering the same thing~ Almond Boneless Chicken! He ordered Orange Chicken and he also said his was very good. My mom ordered Vegetable Egg Foo Young, which she orders at all Chinese Restaurants because she loves it, and said it was delicious. I think my Lo Mein wasn't as big of a meal as the Orange Chicken or Egg Foo Young was because I didn't have much leftover like they did and I'm not a huge eater. We ordered a pint of Egg Drop Soup. It was a little paler in color compared to other places, but the taste did not disappoint! There was a coupon on the menu for 2 free Egg Rolls or Almond cookies with a purchase over $18, which was a nice bonus. They give plenty of plum sauce and soy sauce too! Its good, and although I would eat it again, I probably won't. Just didn't have anything memorable. The lunch portion seemed small. The rice was plain fried rice, and just bland. The chicken pieces were really big, I had to cut most of it, just annoying when I want to shovel my sodium laden lunch into my mouth.
