Did a spontaneous run over here but left disappointed. It was Thursday late afternoon, and it wasn't busy at all with plenty of seats left. Despite that, we felt like we were being rushed out. The server could clearly see we were opening gifts, so it's not like we were just sitting there doing nothing. Again, the restaurant wasn't busy. I thought it was pretty rude that he interrupted us to ask if we were ready for the check literally a minute after we finished eating. Then, as soon as we placed our cards down, he immediately grabbed the tab off the table. He also never checked in to see if everything was okay or if we were enjoying the food while we were eating, so it definitely rubbed me the wrong way when it felt like we were essentially being kicked out. As for the ramen, it wasn't as flavorful as I remembered. It felt like it was missing both spice and seasoning. I love Jinya and the only one I've been to was downtown. But this Katy location seems to be a lot bigger, and the service from beginning to end is just perfection. The food is always great the options are delicious. I do have to say that the bar area is fun to sit at at this location. The bartender the day I went she was absolutely fabulous and was very attentive despite great distractions. The manager was super sweet and very attentive, genuinely cared for how our service was. This restaurant was on my radar for a while and we finally stopped in after seeing a Demon Slayer promotion. The options are limited for this promotion so I was had to try something different. The establishment was not all that big but it did not feel that way. It was really clean and had fun vibes going on. Very laid back and chill. Nice bar too! Despite being in a strip of serious food heavy hitters (#1), the most popular option is likely this JINYA, nestled in the heart of Katy's suburbia. They've become a relatively well oiled machine with keeping their Japanese-American inspired fare consistent and their customer service reliably on point. Whether one is a novice or regular, it's going to be a good time almost every time. While the space isn't extremely spacious, they've done a great job in utilizing a layout that works for all group sizes. The bar is always a fun area to watch the kitchen staff do their thing, but larger groups can enjoy the intimate corner / side areas for more comfortable surroundings. The ambiance is especially nice at night, which could make this a quality date night destination. Kudos to the interior designer for the excellent ambient lighting. The tonkotsu black is always a safe option, which combines a fragrant broth with an equally tasty finish. I always take a nice couple of spoonful sips before bottoming out the rest of the bowl. The yuzu shio, spicy umami, and the tonkotsu original are always appreciated. While their wonton based ramens have failed to impress, the birria ramen is a complete salt bomb. The latter is admittedly a rough one, so I'd recommend sticking to their classic options. Beware of the semi-small portions when considering extra options like chashu pork, corn, or extra noodles. When it comes to toppings, I don't know of any other ramen chain that has such an extensive selection. There's no limit how one can customize the bowl to their liking, which is pretty fantastic. Shoutout to management for offering vegan friendly options as well. Their crispy chicken (aka karaage) has a nice crunch and is appropriately juicy. While I think the gyozas are overpriced at nearly $12 for 6 pieces, they do make for a nice change up palate wise. The mini tacos are definitely mini and the presentation is extremely on point. The best deal in the house might be the kids meal at $12, which comes with a mini bowl of chicken ramen, along with a mini chashu rice bowl, some crispy chicken, french fries, and even candy. The staff is what makes JINYA shine almost always. Excellent food, quick friendly service. Lana was very helpful explaining the menu, and she suggested combinations that added greater value to our choices. The decor is clean and modern, with high ceilings and plenty of natural light. Jinya is in a strip mall, with dark tinted windows, so it's easy to walk right by it, and not notice it's a restaurant, but once you get inside, it's a surprisingly attractive place. I am very spoiled by Ramen I have had in Tokyo (obviously the best place to get Ramen), but Jinya is very good, and a good value, and I will definitely come back. read more

I think it was a good decision as all the side dishes were pretty amazing. Both my kids also got ramen, the tan tan ramen and the spicy miso or tonkatsu, both dishes were great and full of flavor. Felt really bad for the staff since my son ate so fast he ended up making a mess at the table. Staff was really understanding and showed genuine concern for him which is really nice. Just like the Clear Lake location, I always prefer the ones in the 'burbs as parking is easy and the crowds are lighter. A group of friends and I came about and hour before closing and got the familiar friendly greetings yelled at us. Our waiter was cool and handled us with ease. Like the other locations I've been to, I had to pull out my phone to shed some light on the menu since its pretty dark inside. This old man needs some light! I've been to Jinyas quite a bit and have always ordered the same apps and some ramen. We had light bites earlier so we skipped apps and went straight to entrees. I was feeling a little adventurous so I went with the Pork Chashu Bowl. I got the regular size which was a nice sized portion if you are hungry. The bowl came out quick and was very visually appealing. The bowl consisted of braised pork, spinach, green onions and a seasoned egg on top of steamed rice. I mixed it all together and it was very tasty. The same depth of flavor I get with the ramen brother was there in the pork as well. All the ingredients together made for a very delicious bite. Temp wise I wish the food was hotter. I also had to ask for something spicy to kick it up a notch. Overall, Jinya continues to be consistent at all the locations I've been to and I would not hesitate to come back to this location! read more

I was in town for the holidays and my sister took me to try this Ramen spot. Nice space, really open and inviting. It was packed but we were offered bar seating right away which we took. We ordered both mocktails that were offered on the menu, I don't remember what they were called, but one was with coconut and the other one had ginger beer in it. Both were absolutely delicious, although I wish the glasses were bigger and they didn't put in so much ice. We both ordered the black ramen.... the egg was cooked perfectly, that's always the first thing I check. The noodles were nicely cooked as well and the fried garlic on top had a nice flavor. What I didn't enjoy was the broth, it had a very porky almost gamey taste to it. I was not a fan, also kind of bland with no depth. The other portions were not huge. They were plenty for one person but not Texas size so don't expect that. Service was great. Server was friendly and attentive. I've been here dozens of times and often get the same thing: spicy chicken ramen (spicy), add fresh garlic, cabbage, and shrimp wontons. I am a big fan of the shrimp spring rolls they had for a while. I'm hoping they bring those back. The ambience is always chill but the music is SO LOUD in the bathroom. Drinks were re-filled without asking. Ramen came out hot and just as pictured on the menu. Broth was flavorful, noodles were cooked well and other ingredients complemented each other (JINYA chicken ramen). Drink order and small plate order came out exceptionally fast. Our ramen order took 20-25 min to come out, but it was likely the 15+bowl to-go order in front of ours that slowed it down. Worth a trip back to try more menu options. read more
