I tend to stay away from multi-style restaurants unless they are the fusion variety and even then I'm very selective. Rakuu surprised me. They have a nice selection of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese dishes. Every dish we ordered tasted exactly like it should have. It was pleasantly surprised as usually mixed selections like these miss a step. The staff were very nice and the owner/mgmt appeared to be on site. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was extremely clean and well lit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was quiet for a Sunday but I wouldn't take point away for that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely a return drive in the world.

Crab rangoon - 7/10 - $5.95 Japenese spring roll - 7.5/10 - $9.95 Shrimp lo mein - 8/10 - $10.95 Lafayetta roll - 9/10 - $12.95 Shaggy dog roll - 8.5/10 - $11.50 Chiharu roll - 9.5/10 - $13.95 If youre looking for a sushi spot in the Katy area, I would recommend trying the sushi from here. It was so fresh and flavorful. We tried some of their specialty rolls and they were delicious. I probably wouldnt get their non-sushi items again but would go back to try some of their other rolls

The shaggy dog roll was so good I had to order a second one! The prices are great, and the kids portion was generous.

I absolutely love this place. I will always recommend it. The workers are so kind. I've been going there for the past year or so and I've loved it. The food isn't that expensive compared to other places. The environment is nice and it's usually neat. I would recommend anyone interested in eating another cuisine.

RAKUU is my go to food for delivery. I have never dined in but have had delivery numerous times. I have had the Vietnamese rolls, spring rolls and egg drop soup. My favorites are the Lomein with shrimp beef and chicken and the lettuce wrapped chicken. Today I had their California roll sushi. There are still many more items to try and I will definitely be trying them out.

The food and customer service is absolutely amazing. From the moment I walked in the door SHEILA made my welcome extraordinary. I am very big on greeting a potential customer whether you believe they will order or not I have been here before but never for takeout. Spicy garlic edamame is to die for.... The taste and seasoning is delicious. I never had it before and this is the only place I will eat it. The fresh munched garlic gives an unwavering flavor Lettuce wraps were absolutely delicious and a full.serving. There were 6 pieces of lettuce and I broke those in half and had 12 slices so it was enough. I absolutely would recommend them for all of your healthy needs. My other favorite is the New Orleans rice but I did not order this time because I wanted to eat lightly. I always enjoy my trips to RAKUU. I will be back

I've visited this restaurant many times and often brought friends because I love their sushi rolls, and the sushi chef has always been fun and friendly. Dead sure my previous visit will be my last. I overheard a conversation between an employee and the old waitress who usually serves us, the chinese woman around 65-70 yo while I went to the restroom. She was saying things like how 'Black people are nasty,' how a 'Black woman complained there's a hair in her food to get free food when it's her own hair,' and how 'Black people like to steal.' I was shocked and could not believe what I was hearing. No matter how much I like the food, I cannot support a place where such offensive and racist comments are made. This experience was deeply disturbing and felt like a punch to the gut. I will not be returning.

First time here - loved it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very calm and peaceful atmosphere. Pretty decor and settings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The server was working very hard and bussed all tables herself. She did a great job. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't very busy tho - we came on a Sunday @7:30pm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was delicious! Great menu with lots of variety but we came specifically for the sushi this time. Next time might try something else. We got the dumplings and egg rolls as an appetizer and The shaggy dog roll and heaven fire roll as our main meal. Dumplings were very tasty and egg rolls were so good and HOT/fresh. We weren't too much of a fan of the sauce that came with the dumplings but we were ok with that because they were good without anything. Both sushi rolls were absolutely fabulous. We will be back!

Mongolian beef with steamed rice did not disappoint, and wifey had the chicken pad Thai which was meh. Altogether, very nice establishment and we will definitely be back!

It doesn't bother me that it's semi-dimmed and small. The food made up for it even though my back was to the main entrance door. Good parking spaces. There was a waitlist but we didn't wait for over 30 minutes. Best bang for your buck AYCE sushi at $29.99/person and their menu is THICK. Even for someone who is used to sushi, it was overwhelming at first. The tablet made it easier to order without feeling so needy to the already-so-busy servers. Cheaper at lunch time but menu has less options, mainly no sashimi and only ice-cream as desserts. My favorites are chicken karaage, kanpachi sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, salmon sashimi, Cajun albacore sashimi, spider roll, Starbucks roll, baked green mussels, and their mochi (I got strawberry and mango). I got a lot more but those are my favorite and highly recommend for you to try. Final destination sushi rolls are majority of the people's favorite, including my server's. Eel sashimi is on a grill, which was surprising and good. Wasabi was lacking the spice and I'm not a fan of pink ginger but it's an AYCE so not complaining. What I do suggest you to do is to stay away from hot cheesecake and ice cream tempura. Unfortunately, they most likely use the same batter batch with their meats/seafood and they fry it with their seafood/meat oil so all you taste is mainly seafood, which is quite disgusting when you want your desserts to be desserts. I love seafood but that was gross. I still ate the insides. Overall, a solid restaurant for AYCE sushi. I like that the majority of their sushi rolls are half and they don't kill you with so much rice. Plus, you have an option to not get AYCE if you're not too hungry.

I would highly recommend the following; mushroom miso rice, eggplant miso cheese, salmon belly, tai sushi. These are must haves. Ray fin jerky is a maybe if you like sweet jerky or not, this dish was a hit or miss at the table. Our waitresses were amazing and very sweet. One seems to be fairly new but I think she will do well with more experiences as she gets the hang of handling large parties. Our table was stable, but because of the angle from the windows, the light kind of blinded one of our friends in the face. I would recommend stronger blinds for the front. I really liked the decorations. They were all sea shaped based, like a few of the lights were "waves". I thought they were cute. Amazing place, I'm excited to come back again to try their other dishes like barracuda and aji fry! Also, free parking out front!

The selection is a bit more limited for lunch, but the price is lower than dinner as well. Being AYCE, I wouldn't expect the highest quality, type, and cut of fish, but what they had was pretty solid, tasted fresh, and was delicious. A minor complaint would be they had no sashimi option, even for the tamago which I personally believe is eaten best without rice, but that's just minor stuff considering the good value here. As much as I try to find a reason not to give this place an outstanding rating, if I compare it to the AYCE category of restaurants, it did everything right. They do have a regular a la carte menu, with a selection that looks like a treat in itself. As for me, I highly enjoyed their jalapeno bomb to start. I highly doubt they used snow crab, tasted like imitation crab, but I enjoyed it nevertheless and got another order at the end. I tried a few nigiri while I was here, with eel being my favorite (and thank goodness for no bones, which was lucky because it's eel). Their tacos were an unexpected standout and is worth a bite or two. Using sheets of nori and frying it to it holds up like a shell is pretty genius and more places need to do this. I had a good time with their Burning Alaska signature maki, which has salmon as the main star. The smokiness from torching was a killer! Their curry reminded me of S&B, which might very well be the mix they used. I was a bit disappointed to not see fish katsu as an option considered it's a sushi place, but I can see the katsu curry selection being a good option as a comfort dish. I wish I had the stomach space to try out new stuff, but maybe next time. Wish someone would post a photo of the salmon skin salad, because I'm a bit curious about that!
