My friends and I walked in on a bustling Sunday evening about an hour before closing, and were seated right away (we were a table or 6). The service was good. Our waitress was spunky, welcoming, and made some decent menu recommendations. I ordered the lychee sake, which was delicious, and plenty to share for a small group. For food I ordered the shrimp wonton ramen, with thin noodles and a soft egg. What I did appreciate, the options to customize my bowl. For a rainy, cold evening in Houston, this was a way better alternative to fast food. For the quality of ramen as a whole, it should be priced at a more affordable rate due to the quality. My advice? The food is great but the ambience is ruined by extremely loud music and poor choices for the tv. Today we were blessed with a televised hotdog eating contest and got to watch people gagging and shoving hotdogs down their throats while we ate our own food. The music is loud at every location and we have had to repeatedly correct our waiters on our food orders because we can't hear each other talk. I just wish waiters would pass our complaints about the music volume up to managers because it's annoying that they just say "oh sorry" and we have to continue dealing with it. read more

We came to the place, waited forever, servers passed us and ignored us. The couple that came 15 minutes after us got service before us. I'm not sure how this establishment train their employees; but retraining needs to happen. I felt the discriminations of services from their employees. The host has her back on the entire time as we walked in. I had to make some noice in order to be notice. Please review your camera footage on Labor Day from 1:20 to 1:45. This is my last review for 2021 & I wanted to give it a 5 stars unfortunately it was just a solid 3.5. I've been to numerous of Jinya's & this is the first location that did not receive a 5 star rating from me & I'll explain why. Service for the most part was good but the person who dropped off my appetizer wasn't friendly. She basically placed the food on the table, I said thank you & she ignored me & walked away with sass, -1 star for that. The food at this location was just decent/good & not great. Here's what I ordered. * Brussels sprouts tempura- lightly coated, nice crisp & it came right out of the fryer. Overall it tasted fine, but it was bland and needed some salt. I asked the server is there any dipping sauce for my tempura & he recommended the spicy mayo. Let's just say the sauce made it 3X's better. 3/5 * Chicken ramen- the broth was very simple & didn't have any depth to it. I'll say that it was just decent. It definitely needed more ingredients because something was missing. 3/5 * Karaage chicken ramen (Chef's special)- I've pretty much ordered everything on the menu so I wanted to get something different. The broth was rich & the chicken was delicate. Considering the chicken had been soaked in the soup for a good minute, it still has a good crunch. The egg was cooked to my liking, which is runny. 4.2/5 Overall, the food was decent & service from Ruben was good but the food runner left a bad taste in my mouth. Will I come back? We came in with our daughter and her service dog. The host initially asked us to pick a table, then she came back and asked us to sit on the patio outside. We told her that was against ADA and we did not want to sit outside. She said other service dogs and owners were asked to sit outside in case someone has a dog allergy. It's now 2022 and there's a JINYA not too far from my place. One day, something just came over me and I just decided to give JINYA one more chance. Welp...I'm soo glad I did. Their shrimp wonton ramen..DELISH! Seasoned just right and it all just taste so fresh! I love to get a side of broccoli to add to mine because who doesn't love broccoli! This location can get very busy and is kind of small. It's clean, welcoming, and a nice ambiance. I love that you can just come enjoy your time at the bar too. May 2021. Tried this place for the very first time a couple of months ago after looking at all the positive reviews, and I must say, this place not only filled my tummy, but also filled my heart. One of the best ramens I've had in a very long time! I had the spicy chicken ramen and it was perfectly cooked. The broth was yum, the chicken was soft and the flavors were rich. The restaurant has a cool vibe. The service was quick and the food was fresh. There's plenty of parking space around and our waiter was kind and knowledgeable. As usual, Jinya is usually busy. I decided to try this location again since the last visit was unpleasant. I've gotten my go to Tonkatsu with extra Char Siu. Everything tasted wonderful. Service wasn't stellar. I was only there for lunch so maybe 15-20 mins max? Once again, I paid with cash and the server asked if I needed change. You can tell if a customer needs change or if it's a tip by the amount of cash he/she gives. It rubs me the wrong way when servers think I am tipping them 90% of the bill when I was only there for 15-20 minutes. Looks like management hasn't discussed how to handle cash customers in their meetings with the servers. Jinya, please do better. I enjoy your food. Maybe have a dedicated cashier if your servers are so busy that they can't close out a tab with the correct amount of change? read more

Another new Jinya location, this time in Katy. Plenty of parking spots in this small plaza. Interior is nice and comparable to the other spots. Service at this one as noticeably lacking especially compared to Midtown. The menu has also changed recently; I'm not too big a fan of the changes or the price increase. Each bowl is now ~$15! We ordered an appetizer of chicken karaage (5 piece), a Jinya tonkotsu black with a side of spicy sauce and a spicy Umami miso ramen. I was very satisfied with how fast the food came out and how kind the server was. The food in the other hand, I would say I was only half satisfied. Not that it was bad, but overall, it was too salty with ramen having so little amount of soup. I'm usually a sauce lover so I always dip my chicken karaage in the sauce but because it was already salty, I didn't even bother dipping it. For the ramen, I got the spicy umami miso ramen and when I took my first bite, I liked the taste of it but the saltiness just threw me off. I was craving a good bowl of ramen, so I came here for dinner with my sister. We ordered the Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen, the chef's special Vegan Maze-men, and some Takoyaki Balls. I've previously tried the Spicy Creamy Ramen, so I was happy that the consistency at this location was also the same. The Takoyaki balls were honestly some of the best I've EVER had. I am in love with the egg tartar below the balls that add amazing creaminess to the dish! Lastly, the vegan Maze-men was ok in my opinion. I really enjoyed the flavor of the bamboo shoot, but overal the dish was very heavy. It was hard to enjoy it after a few bites and really needed some acidity to cut through the heaviness of the dish. JINYA is the place to go for ramen in Katy. My favorite ramen here is their JINYA Tonkotsu Black, which has a pork broth and is "pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, nori dried seaweed, seasoned egg, garlic chips, garlic oil, fried onion, and spicy sauce served with thin noodles." I love the flavor of this one! The broth is creamy with a strong pork flavor and a good amount of spice from the sauce. I'm not usually someone who gets super excited about the egg in ramen, but the seasoned eggs here are also great. My boyfriend's go-to order is the Sprouting Up Ramen, which has a pork & chicken broth and is "pork chashu, kikurage, spicy bean sprouts, green onion, half seasoned egg, crispy brussel sprouts, black pepper, and ginger served with thick noodles." This one is surprisingly good. At first I thought the brussel sprouts might be a weird addition, but they go really well. My go to ramen place in Katy. Been here several times and the ramen have been consistently good. Whole egg, chewy noodle, rich broth, not too fat chasu, everything you can ask for. They give just enough broth to leave you satisfied, no more no less, and understandable because that's where the money is. Chicken karaage is a liiitle bit too big for my liking - the chunks are huge so it's a bit difficult to eat - but otherwise juicy and crunchy. Service are usually friendly and on time unless they're really busy. I would also recommend the panna cotta (not pictured) which I order almost every time I come. Love love their chicken wonton with Ramen noodles. It's so creamy and delicious. I like how you are welcomed in Japanese and when you are done how they tell you arigato in Japanese. They have excellent service and the ambience could be a little noisy but everyone just seems to be in friendship or family mode when eating in a good place. I ordered Ramen and a small plate for delivery tonight. I was hoping to order the shrimp toast but it doesn't appear to be on their menu currently. I'm full. But I feel a little underwhelmed. This would definitely not be my first choice for Ramen again. It's my own dumb fault for ordering the Spicy Creamy Shrimp Tempura, a fried small plate with a sauce. Naturally it arrived rather soggy. But it wasn't spicy at all. I also ordered the Tokyo to Katsu Ramen with added corn and an extra egg. They got the perfectly cooked extra egg right. (I'm currently at about 50-50 odds of actually getting an extra egg, when I request one.) However the noodles were like a brick it took me a long time to get them separated after I added the broth. He's very friendly and attentive. The service he provided is comparable to service I've had in fine dining restaurants. Amazing service from Dan and the rest of the staff here. They all deserve a shout out. The food is amazing too. We've eaten at many ramen places. My husband is a bit particular about ramen too but we were both very impressed. If I could give service even higher than five stars, I would! I came in with a party of 14 on a weekend, and we were still immediately seated. We were in the restaurant for two hours, and the entire time the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. They came to our table many times to ensure we were good, the table was cleaned of all trash and empty plates, and to take the many various orders we had throughout the night. The event was a birthday party, and the staff was so courteous and kept saying happy birthday to the birthday girls. I cannot recommend this location enough!!! I unfortunately did not get the names of our servers to personally shout them out, especially considering it seemed like the entire staff came out to help with our table. Great ramen spot in Katy. We we late on a weekday and it was packed! It's very tiny, so be aware. (But you can sit at the bar or the patio as well.) We waited for a long time to be seated (seemed like they hadn't optimized their seating very well i.e. sitting 2 ppl at a 4 top when a 2 top was available).
