Love the coffee here. One thing tho I've been a regular since I moved here and the one feedback I'd give is to train the staff better. I've ordered the lattes in buckets plenty of times and some staff say they can't do it while others say they can. I've ordered plenty of times in the last year since I live in the apartments right behind the shop. I'm starting to get tired of the constant back and forth with the morning staff. Specifically the Hispanic lady tht looks to be in her late 30s. She's friendly yes but I think she needs to catch up on the policies. Also she has told me I can't add stuff to its sandwich's either which has never been the case for me. Still love the coffee. I'd rather come later in the day tho. read more

Great coffee shop in Melrose! Stopped in for lunch and had a delicious tuna melt & some great cold brew coffee. My dad enjoyed his caprese panini. There are tons of great breakfast and lunch options on the menu and an extensive coffee drink selection! The inside seating area is great for getting some work done while enjoying your coffee. I really like their product, sandwiches are terrific and nice staff. However twice I have ordered multiple sandwiches (6) as take-out and both times when I arrived at the pick-up time, the sandwiches hadn't even been started. The last time (10/9/25) I gave them two days notice, and again the order had not even been started when I was clear about the time I would arrive. I would suggest placing your take-out order and then 30 minutes before you are due to pick-up, call to be sure they will have your order ready for your arrival. read more

Ordered quad shot espresso and the younger gentleman gave me decaf, also didn't respond to anything I said to him. "Hello" etc seems he was having a bad day. I actually gave the place a courtesy call to let them know I got a decaf drink from an odd fellow as opposed to the yelp review. I enjoyed my time at the Cafe, my roommate and I went there for a change of scenery. Folks who are WFH can relate. This had been my first time there and I ordered a grilled Cesar salad. My Cesar salad was okay, the dressing was too acidic for my liking but the ambiance was great. The music was at a convenient volume level and the seating was arranged in a way that followed COVID guidelines. The customer service was exceptional. Prior to going there my roommate had called to make sure they weren't too busy and the WiFi was good quality. Whoever she had spoken to had such joie de vie in his tone that it made me want to explore this Cafe. Again, the salad not my best but the Cafe atmosphere is top notch. Service and food was good but the coffee was sour, we got the cold brew and it was terrible, changed to regular coffee and it was still sour . Tried with cream then milk second round and couldn't drink a second sip of either coffee. Ended up throwing away. Not worth the money spent on coffee. read more

Allergies can be very serious, so the staff should be trained in which products have which allergy for when customers ask; this would be easy to keep track of with labels or even a binder with the major allergens listed. I came back a second time to get a panini before writing a review. I will say I like the decor of the café, and the service has been great. The panini's have been mediocre, not terrible but not great. First, I tried the jitterbug. I found it plain, the turkey was meh and even the sourdough was flat. The Granny Smith apples were also a dud. I wanted to give it another shot, so I came back for the Panino, it sounded good with pine nut pesto and mozzarella and sliced tomato on rosemary focaccia. Even that landed flat. It was just boring with little flavor, the only flavor I got was the reduced balsamic and that was overly sweet (more like the balsamic glaze thickened with sugar than a reduction). Even the focaccia was barely crispy. This last trip though I got a snickers latte. It was a little sweet for my taste, but it was delicious (and yes tastes like a snickers). I got an iced latte, oh and wow was the cup flimsy. The cover had a poor seal, I got latte all over my shirt! It was on secure and the cover was still leaking like a sieve, and just holding it the cup indented significantly and of course, put pressure on the cover and through the straw opening. I gave this place a solid try. I would be willing to try other things here, however I don't see going back soon. read more

It's 5 years later and this place is still a 5 star. Their paninis are still addictive and I'm not even exaggerating when I say I have never tried any other sandwich other than the buffalo chicken. AMAZING. I bring friends here all the time and they have all said that jitters has become a staple when in Melrose. Tim, I know you replied back to me 5 years ago when you read my original review and said that you would work on the attitude of your staff, I can tell you honestly that it hasn't had a huge improvement but some days are better than others. One major complaint I have (but I will not give lower stars for because this place deserves 5 stars because the sandwiches are incredible) is that I have a food aversion with pickles. I've had it my entire life, they make me incredibly ill, and I genuinely cannot stand when the juices touch my food. Every. Single. Time. I order a panini to enjoy there I let the person behind the counter know to please not include a pickle and without fail 98% of the time- there's a pickle with my food. I always have to ask for a new basket, and a few times the girls behind the counter I have actually heard them talking about poorly about me. One of your cashiers told me that for future visits just tell the person that I have a food allergy and they'll "take me more seriously" - well I did that on my last visit in and the girl behind the counter questioned if I had an actual food allergy or if I just didn't like them. So I told her about my previous experiences and what the other cashier had told me to do and she rolled her eyes at me and said "okay, I'll just put it in caps for no pickle". Another time I had come in with my friend and we both got Buffalo paninis. I usually order with no lettuce or cucumber and my friend orders regular- my sandwich had cucumbers on it, and hers was missing the sauce. When bringing my order back up to the counter to have it fixed, I had asked for the sauce for my friends sandwich and the cashier said that it would be an extra charge for another sauce if I was to get it, but if my friend came up they could just give it to her, which was strange but I walked away and awaited for my new sandwich. Unfortunately I was not given a new sandwich, the original sandwich that I sent back was just opened and the cucumbers were removed. One bite, I could immediately tell and we left. Anyways, no place is perfect. But 8/10 this place is and that's why we keep going back. read more

I have been living 5 minutes away from Jitters Cafe for the past 2 years and this past weekend was the first time I've been there... sad? I know... But so happy I checked this place out. The moment I walked in, I noticed the place is pretty spacious and a nice place to sit and chat with friends or a quiet spot to get some work done. I came on a Saturday around 11am-12pm and this place was literally empty. There was about 5-6 employees behind the register. Way too many people working for an empty shop, but maybe I just beat the rush? The female cashier was nice and approachable. She saw that my boyfriend and I were looking at the little menu behind her and she immediately offered us a closer menu to browse through. I ended up getting the iced snickers latte and my boyfriend got a hot cappuccino that totaled up to around $7. Great prices! There was a little station to fix your coffee up to your own liking with sugar and all which was very convenient and handy! Also, some Purell hand sanitizer? That is GOLD! lol Overall, the Snickers latte was eh. It didn't taste like coffee or snickers to me. It tasted more like milk. However, my boyfriends cappuccino was delicious!!! I definitely will be back and getting that instead. Their baked goods look so yummy and I was totally tempted, but we were on our way to lunch elsewhere!! Ordered a No Name panini with added extra spinach and tomatoes, and Vanilla Chai Latte. The sandwich was very good, but I wish there were more options for vegetarians or vegans. The amount of toppings on the sandwich was perfect, and the latte was cool by the time I picked it up, 10 min after it was ready. Fast service and quality food. I shuttle from Oak Grover to Government Center down town, I kept seeing some of my coworkers eating pastries and drinking coffee, I asked (being the food fatty I am) what they were eating and where was this coffee shop. Jitters is located one street over. Hmmm, I needed to make my way over there and come up with why was I there lol. Ok, yeah a potty break... brilliant Nikiba!! Uuuug, I go around n there's signs that state no parking. No parking for this hug yellow transit bus that is. No one gonna stop me from "using the ladies room" and I hope Boston's finest would be waiting on me when I returned because I sure parked in a no stopping or standing area. I go in and use there ladies room and when I returned there they go BLUE BERRY MUFFINS!! I also got a medium Oreo Latte. I returned to my bus which did not get ticketed and pinched a piece of my muffin. I started to go back into Jitters and Three Stooges slap every person behind the counter. They have the BEST blueberry muffins I have EVER eaten!! I promise I ate half the muffin while double parked. Since that day, I visited Jitter's at least 3x's in a week and half. Music is an issue. This place used to be (circa 2018) a great spot to work and chat with friends. However, in recent years, the soft / jazz background music has turned into loud 2000s alternative. It's now near impossible to sit and enjoy a coffee. I give it 2 stars because, other than the music, the ambiance is great, prices reasonable, and is in a nice location. Further, the outdoor seating is truly fantastic - especially in the summer or early autumn. But, the music is an insurmountable hurdle, thus knocking off 3 stars from this review. Therefore, I can no longer recommend Jitters for indoor seating. read more

Sandwich options are a bit lacking in Malden (other than the criminally underrated Cornucopia Foods...), so I often will make the trek over to neighboring Melrose for delicious paninis & salads at Jitters Cafe. Jitters offers plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors and a menu that typically consists of a nice mix of staples and seasonal specials. The black angus roast beef panini is solid - call me crazy, but the real show-stopper for most of their paninis is actually their pickle spears on the side. I don't know why these pickles hit the spot more than most other sandwich shops, but they do. The last time I was at Jitters, I got a delicious Fall special salad consisting of quinoa, carrots, romaine, craisins, and pumpkin seeds, with a perfect lemony vinaigrette. I would absolutely order it again - everything was super fresh (I might opt to throw a little meat on top next time). I've also gotten their homemade lemonade, but didn't love it - it was a bit watery (I like my lemonade to have a serious flavor / tartness punch). I'll try some other drink next time. For casual, no-frills, reliable cafe food in Melrose, Jitters is worth a stop. read more

Awesome little coffee/cafe place. It was relatively empty on a Sunday afternoon, I ordered the Ultimate Pastrami. Our order was ready promptly in like 10 minutes. Nice and hot when it arrived, they brought it right out to our table it was perfect. I also got a cinnamon cake muffin to go for later, that was really yummy too. Definitely recommend. Parking is a little tight on the street but there is a lot around the corner you can park at as well. read more

Before I start I just want to say that my tuna melt was EXCELLENT. Soft, thick, fresh sourdough bread (I requested sourdough instead of wheat.) Sweet pickles inside the sandwich and an extra different kind of pickle on the side. Yum. Barista behind the country was very friendly. I I feel like I'm being nit-picky but I guess that's the point, right? I was a bit surprised that my cappuccino didn't arrive in a ceramic mug but instead in to-go cup. When I come to coffee shops I come to post up for a while so it's nice to have an actual mug to sip out of. Ambiance is nice and there were many moms with infants and friends chatting on comfy couches. People on laptops. I wish I took the time to check this place out before heading back to school in the south. Perfect cafe to get your work done without being distracted by the rush hour times at other well known coffee shops. There is ample parking, however some of it has a 2 hour limit. The space is nice and cozy. There are outlets for your laptop and a choice of couches, high tables, rounds tables, and large tables for groups. The coffee here is SO good! I got a dark roast and hazelnut mix, I need that every morning to get through my day. I also got "the no name" panini. Everything on it was delicious, I just wish the turkey wasn't cold. If I'm having a pressed sandwich I prefer it to be warm/ hot all over, not just the outside. The staff is super nice, super personable with that local feel.
