Stumbled upon this place on an early morning while we waited for our pup at the Vet. It's a small little diner with a pretty extensive menu. I had a grilled cheese and my wife had a breakfast platter with eggs, pancakes, and sausage. Everything was good and the waitress was pretty attentive. Wife and I were in town for the Soul Rodeo. We went to this place because of the good reviews . I have no idea where the good reviews came from. Not to sound racist but Letz just sat there no yellow or brown people in there. When I open the door it seems as if you can hear a pen drop and all the eyes and heads turned our direction with a not so pleasing gesture. My wife said hell No Letz go. This place looks a lot better on the inside and the outside. You wouldn't expect a decent country diner to be in a shopping center like this one. The service was good. People were very nice overall, and they checked in on us every once in a while. Coffee was also topped off constantly. Make sure you order your steak one temperature down from what you ultimately want. I ordered mine medium and got it medium well. Still, the steak was tender enough to eat, juicy, and tasty. Eggs were good, the deviled eggs that I ordered at the beginning were delicious, the hashbrowns we're OK. Could have been crispier. I added their mug to my collection. I'd eat here again. Good country cuisine. UPDATE... This place was good enough that we returned the next day for more. And I'm glad we did because this time I tried their meat lovers omelette and it was excellent! Here it was, our first stop on our trip to the National Parks of Florida. With our AirBnB in Homestead, we explored some local restaurants. Sam's Country Kitchen was easily the number one choice for breakfast. We stopped by one morning, got seated promptly, and looked at their delicious menu to see what looked good. We got some plates that gave us a little bit of everything. And everything was solid. Well-cooked, crisp potatoes. Crispy bacon. Simple eggs with classic yellow slices of cheese on top. Waffle House style has browns. Some nice, medium fried eggs. Their biscuits 'n' gravy was the best, though. Two big, fluffy biscuits, and a very large helping of a peppered sausage gravy. Man, tastes like home. Finished off the meal with a homemade-style French toast that was drizzled in Nutella and dusted with powdered sugar. I wouldn't trade this French toast for the fanciest French toast in all the lands. Just perfect. Overall, my self-made decision making tree lead me to believe that this place was the best breakfast restaurant in all of Homestead. After eating here, I was inclined to believe it. Sam's reminds me of an old school diner- I hate to compare it to Woolworth's (for those that are from up north) but that is the vibe I get. This place hasn't seen a remodel since the 90's, at best, and if it did, they'd probably lose business. It's one of those places that are loved by locals and locals want it to remain their place to eat "comfort food", and want a place that has aged along with them. I unfortunately didn't get a picture of our food, we were hangry!! But I had fried chicken and waffles and my husband had eggs, grits and corned beef hash, and it was all cooked exactly as ordered. Service is old school, people don't go out of their way to be overly friendly, instead, they are authentic. They say hello, give you a menu and take your order. A truly country kitchen with solid breakfast food. My family and I landed in Miami and were hungry from our flight. We used Yelp to get us here and we were pleasantly surprised as Homestead doesn't have too many selections of breakfast spots. The wait staff was very friendly and seated us in the newer addition of restaurant on the side where there was more space for our family of 6. Server took our order and food came out quick. We ordered an omelette, country fried steak, meatloaf (husband really liked this), fried Ahi, and a breakfast kid's meal. Food was good and quality was appropriate for the price point. WOW! Great food, AWFUL service! (Crab Bene, and pork sausage were excellent, good chef!). Smallish place, 2 waitresses on, no MENUS for over 10 minutes. Waitress apologized, thought the other did it, fine. Once we ordered and got coffee, that was IT. Both waitresses were nice enough, but both just disappeared for LONG periods, to the point where NO ONE was pouring coffee, etc. After sitting with cold empty cups for over 20 minutes, in a small place, with no waitress in sight (we ran out long before breakfast was served; we werent in a hurry, just really wanted some coffee), I got up and brought our cups to the woman behind the counter, the ONLY visible employee in the place. (Were the waitresses on smoking breaks, or WHAT?). I politely asked for more coffee, no complaint, and she looked shocked and stared at me, then told me in an unfriendly tone "I'll bring it to you." Like how dare I. When she brought it, I said: "I'm sorry, but its been 20 minutes." Nothing, no polite or professional "I'm sorry, we're just understaffed today," just SILENCE. I asked, "Understaffed today?" to break the silence, and she IMMEDIATELY turned her back on us and stomped away to show her displeasure. I was a waitress for MANY years, and you NEVER act like that to a customer who just asked for coffee and is trying to be polite about it. This woman (the one behind the counter) had NO people skills WHATSOEVER! The only reason I gave a second star is the quality of the food and that the 2 actual waitresses were at least nice, if lax in service. If I were the owner. I would train my waitresses to service their tables more often, especially with at least ONE coffee refill (one offered it only AFTER our run in with the Counter Crab, AFTER we finished breakfast, too late). Don't you DARE ask the counter lady for ANYTHING! She was RUDE! Get some PEOPLE skills. read more

My family and I went there for the first time on our kids first day of school. My husband and I loved it so much, we have been going almost every Monday since we're both off. The food is amazing. You get hefty portions and the taste is consistent every time we visit. The service is always great- very friendly. When they are a little busy, the servers take the time to stop by and let you know they'll be right with you. This place is very welcoming. It has the feel of a small town dinner with modern touches. They have tvs throughout the establishment, so if you happen to stop by yourself- you can just watch those. Today is the first time I remembered to take a picture of my food to share. We ate here for breakfast last weekend and we weren't disappointed. I can't resist and avocado eggs Benedict and it was perfect! They add spinach to it which was a nice healthy addition. My kids had waffles and a two egg breakfast and everything was good. We recommend getting chocolate chips and strawberries on top. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. My mini chicken and waffles tasted like Tyson chicken tenders on top of an unexciting waffle. I read the reviews and wanted breakfast so I took the ride to homestead. Once I arrived place was very busy. Sat down, was brought a menu and started with coffee. Coffee was lukewarm. Placed my order for the Sam's Sampler two eggs scrambled with onions and cheese, Turkey sausage patties, home fries, and French toast All for $18.99. No where did I see written that the Turkey sausage would be an additional price and that the French toast would be another additional charge. I was under the impression that it was all included being that this is what the description of the dish says. Once I received my meal eggs were hot and everything else cold, and the food took a while to be served which is understandable being that they were busy. If I have to wait, that's not a problem but at least serve me my meal hot. Then I get my receipt and there it was the extra charge for Turkey sausage and French toast, my $20 meals turned to a almost $30 including tip, service was ok, the inside is decorated cute like grandmas kitchen. Even the pancakes where not only gummy i could not cut then to well with the knife and they even had a slight fish flavor. I'm sorry , I could not even finish them .. A couple tables down , they had ordered fried fish. Don't know how all that flavor got mixed up in my breakfast . Okay, I think I have been living in Key West for too long. And before moving to Key West, I was living in Northern VA. Both places are extremely expensive. So, it was great to find a good and inexpensive spot. I had an omelette, hash brown, toast, and coffee. Everything came out to $8.50. I was so surprised! And the food was fantastic!
