Wow! Jk's sushi is amazing. It is a hole in the wall cafe in a large business complex. It is the best sushi I have had in a while. It competes with the nicer sushi restaurants here in the Twin Cities. I had the spicy tuna bowl and the number 9 roll. Both were amazing. Ever since I had a poke bowl in California since last winter break, I've been helplessly trying to find ways to lessen my cravings for it since there are not many places in MN that sell this type of food yet. Well on my search for poke in MN, I ran across this place that seemed to be as close as I could possibly get to poke in MN. First off, let me just say that it's located within an office building so when Google Maps takes you to these office buildings and you do not see any restaurant nearby, you are exactly in the right spot. There's no large signs or anything visible as you're driving on the street but when you drive up closer into the actual parking lot of the office buildings, you'll see a tiny sign for it. It's a nice little cool place filled with huge windows and enough seating. The menu is available right as you walk in and you order and pay first, then grab a seat. When your food is ready, it will be brought out to you. I tried the spicy tuna rice bowl ($7.99) and it came out fairly quickly, granted that most of their customers are just employees of the offices, they don't receive much traffic and they're not too busy. They also close early at 3 PM, but if you order their dinner specials, you can still come in and pick up to-go food until 5 PM. The poke bowl was great! It comes with a bed of rice on the bottom with teriyaki sauce, a large amount of red, fresh, spicy tuna, a few slices of avocado, a bit of "crunch", and a ton of spicy mayo drizzled over. For the price, I thought they gave a very big proportion of tuna. All of the sauces were great together and the avocado and crunch really gave a good addition to it. The spice is great as well, not too spicy, but enough to give it a small kick. They use the sticky short-grain rice so it is actually quite a heavy meal and they give a large amount of sauces, so depending on your preferences, it may be great or just a bit too much. Overall, I really enjoyed the dish. I still enjoy the poke bowls that I had in California more as they typically include a lot more options, sauces, and are more complex. The one that I tried here was really good, but I feel like it consisted of pretty simple and basic ingredients that seemed pretty easy to make at home by myself. JK's table is a breath of fresh air in the chain food wasteland of west Bloomington/south Edina. Unassuming and expectation lowering to say the least on approach, they're located in a baby poo brown square of an office building. Those lucky SOB cube farm drones get to walk right over for their tasty lunch, I have to drive. Look for the little stake in signs they place on the office complex grounds to guide your way. Inside, you'll find a nice little lunch café. Sandwiches, sushi, rice bowls and more. Order at the counter, get a number and find a seat. You can get a cheaper lunch, but you'll feel terrible and be full of things you can't pronounce. Here, you can get a lunch combo of a spicy tuna roll & small udon bowl for $10. Or a really damn good spicy tuna rice bowl that I can inhale in an impressive amount of time. The fish tastes fresh and the prices are very fair. Biggest downside: Service can take a bit. Imagine you wake up in an office building. Outside of this office building are two roads, ever so curved towards the South East. You realize you are hungry and begin your trek down this road past the monolithic, scopious executive buildings that line the highway. Everything is a daze, fast moving vehicles nimbly dodging you as you wander down the road. You arrive at a cross roads, eager to try new foods from this land of wonder. You find a quick-serve sandwich shop, a pizza joint, a coffee shop and a fast-food burger drive thru. Again. Just like everyday you wake up at your desk, starving. It's Edina, and you can't figure out why an area so high-buck can't find some variety! Until now! I have worked in this area for almost 5 years, and there has never been any variety until about a year ago. Now, some higher end restaurants are opening up, across the highway, but not everyone has time for that. This is a fantastic option for anyone working on Metro Blvd, who wants to STAY on the west side of HW100 during lunch-rush-hour, and I only discovered it today. If you work in the 7300 or 7400 building, WALK! Get on out there and walk over, it's worth the steps and it's a 5 minute walk at best. Be careful, though, because cars come flying down Metro Blvd without a care in the world. The entrance is well signed, and there are two doors you can enter through. Now, onto the food. Chicken Breast Udon Noodle Soup: Flavorful, perfect balance of spice and savory chicken. It was garnished with a little bit of wakame, small cuts of green onion and shaved carrot. Some small pepper flakes were atop the chicken breast, which gave it the perfect kick. Udon noodles cooked perfectly, not overly mushy or too firm. The chicken breast was sliced wonderfully, allowing me to eat it with a fork and not worry about a knife. I don't know how to use chop sticks, but I imagine this soup is very chop stick friendly. (I'm accepting applications if anyone wants to teach me how!) Edamame: Steamed perfectly. Moisture retained, so the beans slid out perfectly. Evenly salted, juicy soybeans. Mmm.. I can't say much more without sounding strange. A+. Delicious. Tofu Sushi: This is where they really got me. I have never tried sushi before. Maybe once, and I don't remember liking it. (I do remember ending that date after I spit it out.) This time, I was feeling adventurous. I asked the wonderfully attentive woman behind the counter if she had sushi with no raw fish I could try. She showed me several selections, so I ordered the Tofu sushi. It is very true to the name. It is tofu, sesame rice and wrapped in seaweed paper. Garnished with pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce, I dug in. Now, I mentioned I don't know how to use chopsticks, so I'm sure I looked goofy trying to balance slices of ginger on a fourth of a sushi roll with my fingers. But it was delicious, and I wasn't afraid to try the rest! I'm really glad I got to start with baby steps, next time I plan to try something new. Wrapped nicely, this would be great as a simple snack (4 slices) or for the kids to try. The atmosphere is very reminiscent of a quick-service, in/out deli, but the service and food quality is everything but lacking. The food is brought out to you, and I was out the door within 30 minutes. I highly recommend trying this place out if you work in the area. The prices are adequate (my whole meal came out to under $20 for a lot of food) and the quality shows. When I ate at 1:00PM, it was very quiet and I was one of two people eating. read more

A superior hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Somewhere between a sit-down lunch corporate lunch place and a Japanese take-out place, JK's Table is a hidden gem in the middle of an office complex. They offer a wide variety of sushi, bowls, panini, Banh Mi and various soups. Lunch specials add to their regular menu. I stopped in to talk to the owner, and everything smelled delicious! I eventually got a soft shelled crab Banh Mi lunch special and Miso soup, which were excellent. Everyone who came in was enthusiastic about the food. The tables in the restaurant are fine and probably fill for lunch. Many people do take-out. The parking lot for the business complex is huge. A great place if you work in the building. For anyone else, a bit off of the beaten track. Worth a stop if you're anywhere in the area. read more

I have been in a little bit of a rut with where to eat around my job and this is truly a hidden gem. I am dying to go back and try everything. Today I had the spicy tuna bowl which was served with big chunks of tender tuna, avocado, spicy mayo, unagi sauce and tempura flakes over rice. It was $7.99 and amazing. The crispy chicken sandwich, gyoza, udon, takoyaki, softshell crab and all the sushi rolls look amazing. Make sure you use your gps to find this place it is tucked away on the main floor of an office building. I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

I had the poke don go and it was probably the best don I've ever had in the twin cities. There was a good helping of fish and the sushi was amazing for the price. The restaurant is a hidden gem located in an office building, and it has a good ma and pa feel to it. Spicy tuna - mushy paste, doubtful that it's made in-house Soft shell crab - cold, flabby batter. If it was house-made (which I doubt) it was made far in advance of our ordering. Chicken kara-age- good spicy sauce, but same flabby batter issue Veggie roll - fine. Unremarkable. Miso soup - good Goma Ae - made with avocado, not spinach. Different, but good. For what we got and the quality of the food, it was expensive. For rolls nearing $10, I expect top quality ingredients. We won't be returning. read more
