Crazy Tuna Roll in back and Momo roll in front. Both delicious.
    Camille L.

I'm downgrading this to four stars since I had bad stomach pain on and off for a week after dining here and so did my friend and husband after he ate the food. We think the sashimi was the cause and the pain started during the meal. We ordered rolls, momos and sashimi. The first time I dined here I got rolls only and had no issues. I rarely get stomach pain and the last time I experienced this type of pain was about 20 years ago. I still really enjoy the sushi here and my previous review about the food is still accurate. If I came back I'd probably just stick to sushi rolls and/or cooked food.

I feel like I've been living under a rock not having eaten at momo until now!! A friend and I stopped by on a nice Saturday night and they had a rather large crowd waiting on the patio, but the heaters were on and they handed out some complimentary warm drinks so the time went quickly. Inside was cozy and we got seated with complimentary miso soup. The value here is incredible! Prices are affordable and portions are large. We both ordered sushi, but the fried rice we saw someone else order looked amazing (and giant). Every piece of sashimi I had tasted super fresh, I already can't wait to go back soon!

I've been here a few times! Their food is pretty good but I'm a bigger fan of their sister restaurant AMA. The service is a bit off here at times as I noticed they tend to forget silverware and waters when asked. But it's also super busy when my friends and I go. Try to get the Sushi Bucket! It's a whole lot of food and it's pretty good!

I loved this place! The aesthetic was so cute and I loved the fun facts on the table about Japan. Our service was quick and the sushi was yummy! There were a lot of people in the restaurant and definitely deserved. Great vibes and great food!

Great deal for good quality sushi! I love their sushi/sashimi combos that let you try a variety of options. Pricing is very fair for what you get. Only complaint is the service can be pretty slow if you dine inside. The waiters were all super nice, they just need more staff when it's a busy time like weekend dinner. Otherwise, great food!

Always love going to Momo for affordable sushi!! They have lunch specials until 2:45. Sashimis are very thick and tasty! The hamachi Kama has been my favorite each time I go!! It's always a good vibe -- patio area is nice and now has a garden shed. Service was alright but we were given the option to sit where we wanted!

Chirashi ($18.95). 10 pcs chef's choice sashimi over rice, plus a little seaweed salad and oshinko!

My go-to sushi place in Minneapolis! Their cuts of sashimi are the THICKEST I've ever seen in my life and the quality of fish is sooooo good. Their sushi rice is also perfectly seasoned, and is the exact right consistency every time. I'm big on the lunch specials here--their sushi-sashimi lunch ($14.95) is one of the best deals in town! 4 pieces of nigiri, 6 pieces of sashimi, and a tuna roll. The nigiri and sashimi are chef's choice and rotate, but you can always expect salmon and tuna to me in the mix (and their salmon is the best I've ever had--soooo buttery and smooth!). Whether you dine in or order to-go, you also get a complimentary miso soup with your order, which makes it an even sweeter deal than it already is. When I come for dinner, my go-to is the chirashi ($18.95), which is 10 pcs of chef's choice sashimi over their (again, perfectly-seasoned) rice. The cuts are enormous, it's so filling, and I would literally eat an entire bowl of their oshinko (the yellow pickled radish) if that were an option. It's a hip vibe, and pretty popular in the area, so definitely expect a wait if you go on a weekend night, but since we went during December and it was freezing, they had a warming tent set up outside for folks to wait in. They've got a nice patio where you can eat outside during the summer, and I think part of it may be heated in the winter (but don't quote me on that). The service is always quick and attentive, so even on the busiest of nights, your wait is never long. This place is an absolute gem and unbelievable value--I truly believe their fish cuts are on par with some of the more expensive spots in the area! Give it a try (whether you're in the area for lunch or dinner is immaterial)--you won't regret it!

Top to bottom: shrimp tempura, eel, spicy salmon, and salmon avocado

I went back and tried a mix of their specialty rolls and regular rolls. Their specialty rolls taste really good, fresh, and flavorful. My favorite is the March roll. It comes with spicy Kani, spicy tuna, seaweed salad, avocado, shrimp tempura, eel sauce, and wasabi tobiko. Their fish is consistently fresh, they don't put too much rice, and their service is excellent. I still don't taste rice vinegar in the sushi rice, but it's ok because the specialty rolls have other added flavors. Surprisingly, after eating Momo's sushi, I don't feel like I've had a heavy meal, so I really like that about the restaurant and their sushi!

I've gotten takeout from Momo Sushi a couple of times and dined in two other times. All my experiences have been fantastic! Everything is always delicious and service has been perfect. My favorite thing to get here is the Sushi Bucket, which always has a great assortment of sushi (5 pieces of sushi, 9 pieces of sashimi, a California roll, and 2 chef′s choice special rolls). Other great things I've had are the Sushi and Sashimi Combo and the beef and vegetable momos (Half and Half Momo). The restaurant has a cozy waiting area and fire pits outside for when it's cold. In the summer, the outdoor seating is great. It's typically easy to find street parking in the neighborhood!

    Kaylie A.

Very authentic sushi spot! Parking was a little difficult because you cannot use the lot next door, but there were some street spots available. The restaurant overall is super cute and the patio is nicely decorated with plants and florals. As an appetizer, they came out with miso soup and it was a great little treat that they added to the service. We ordered some gyoza and a few rolls to split that was delicious! The servers were very friendly and speedy. Overall I would recommend!

Momo is consistently good and consistently fresh. This is a sushi spot where you never have to worry about freshness or quality - they always deliver. Their prices have always remained reasonable as well. Momo serves classic and eclectic American sushi rolls, along with several other Asian-fusion dishes. The facility is cute, casual, and family-friendly but also very crowded most of the time (completely out of the restaurants control - just a sign of how loved they are by the Minneapolis community!). My only complaint about Momo is that, on occasion, the food takes an extensive amount of time to arrive to the table (usually on a Weekend night). However, the staff has been very apologetic when this happens. Overall, this is my favorite sushi spot I came across in all of Minneapolis during my years there. My go-to order: Momo roll, Beauty and the Beast, and a Salmon Avocado roll. Great everytime. One of my favorite things about Momo is their seaweed salad-topped rolls. They are a great touch if you like seaweed salad and not offered at all sushi spots! Love this place.

Great sushi at this NE Mpls spot! This place is hopping on the weekend, so either go early for dinner or be ready to wait for a table. They do have outdoor seating, so that's a bonus when it's nice out. The inside is trendy, hip and cozy at the same time.

This was, without a doubt, the best sushi and service I have ever experienced…read more I enjoy new experiences. Before Saturday I had never heard of Omakase. For those of you reading this that are in that boat, it is well worth it. Omakase is a five-course sampler of the best sushi they have to offer. Calling it a sampler does a disservice to the artistry and mastery of the craft that to a very select few is sushi. Bask (I hope I spelled that right) is one such master. My buddy and I came in for a fun visit to the Twin Cities. On an impulse, he suggested sushi, and my instinct was to check Yelp. I'm glad I did. We sat at the bar after a short wait, where we met Emma. Emma is a bringer and friendly bar tender who happens to love sushi. We read through the menu and saw that Omakase had a whole page devoted to it. Emma let us know that the chef and cook staff dismantle whole fresh fish frequently, ensuring their fish meets their high standard. That one fact made the decision easy. I wish I had taken pictures of the food. You'll have to take my word for it that each serving was a work of art, some in their simplicity, others arranged with delicate touches of culinary flair. Without pictures of the dishes, the best I can do are two examples. The first course was three different cuts from the same ahi tuna, featuring the leanest portion, a medium portion and a fatty portion of the same fish. Having fresh fish and experiencing such variety from the same animal was eye opening. The other example was the uni. Both of us had tried it at other establishments and neither of us recalled our respective experiences fondly. Here, the flavor and texture was what I was told I should expect with uni. If I had known it was part of the meal before ordering, I probably wouldn't have gone with it. Now, I'm open to having it again, and if it's here I'll enjoy it again. The meal was perfectly portioned for my buddy and myself to feel full, but not stuffed. The flavors and textures were perfect. Words fail to reach the feelings invoked. We may have just been ruined on sushi. I eagerly await my next trip to your beautiful city, if only to visit Billy Sushi again.

I will admit, it's a bit too fancy for me sometimes. And the price matches. But it has been a delightful and delicious dining experience both times, so who am I to complain? I really want to come back and do the omakase sometime. -Cocktails: They have this whole big explanation about how they take special care in the curation of their cocktails, and I have to say, they are pretty great. I got the Party Girl this last time and it was good but pretty boozy. The gold flak on the top of it was a bit over the top for me, but whatever. My friend got the Raspberry Beret, which was delicious and obviously appropriately themed for Minneapolis and being down the street from First Ave. The restaurant also has an impressive selection of sake, Japanese beer, etc. -Apps: We love the yuzu tuna and have gotten it both times. This last time we also got the salmon carpaccio, which was also delicious. I love age dashi tofu, and this version was good - but not the best (Oragimi has a better one). We found the broth to be delicious, but the one big chunk of tofu was a bit unwieldy, and the coating was a bit gummy. I would pass on that one next time. -Sushi-wise: Nigiri are amazing here - delicious, perfectly cut fish, generous portions, rice that is often still warm. No complaints. For rolls, we love the Big Blue Wave and the Toro Mania. We also ordered the Fancy & Furious, which was less delicious to me but still pretty tasty. Service both times was totally fine - nothing exceptional but nothing to complain about either. I am sure we'll be back. Note: you basically need a reservation if you want to come during a prime time or on the weekend. Book ahead.

We enjoyed getting to watch the chef and team prepare the fare, and chef even spoke to us at one point. Definitely a high level of skill there. We got the yakitori to start: good, but nothing crazy, and the price point for the small skewers is so high. The waygu was a bit tough. After time in Japan, we were JAZZED to get the okonomiyaki pizza, but it was...very sad. Hardly any toppings, and I don't even think it had cabbage on it? No cabbage on an okonomiyaki pizza...? We got a pasta to share as well, and it had great flavors but the portion was oh-so-tiny. We got the special morel pizza to share, and the price was STEEP (I think around $50) due to the rarity of morels, but it was the best thing we had! The gluten-free pizza crust felt small and wasn't overly substantial, so we didn't find much of the meal filling. This meal was quite pricey, and this second experience was more lackluster than our first.

We also tried the Kickboxer roll, loaded with spicy crab and tempura shrimp, topped with a sweet-spicy sauce and Sriracha for an extra kick.
