I have written lot of business reviews but this one is right at the top of my list. I first took my BMW 328i and found out that there was a gas tank leak and the tank needed to be replaced. Total cost around $4,000. What did it cost me? $0! Fernando told me that it was covered under warranty and I should go to a BMW dealership and they should fix it for free. He could have easily charged me the full amount and I would have happily paid it (other place that I'd went to didn't disclose the warranty thing). I was just amazed at Fernando's honesty and he won me as a customer for life! Even the dealership that I got it fixed were amazed at his honest assessment. I went to him again with a fuel gasket leak that needed Engine, oil filter housing gasket with cooler gasket and intake manifold gasket set replaced. He gave me a great price and had the car ready before time. He even did my oil change and fixed a light malfunction for free. He's thoroughly knowledgeable and a true expert. This review is a long time coming for repairs conducted in November '24...however, on the plus side, it's allowed the time to report that the car's been running great ever since... I brought in my wife's 2019 Mini Cooper S 4d for repairs. Fernando was honest from the get go, even being reluctant to charge for unnecessary diagnostics. However, he took extra time sitting and listening through an extended test drive until grinding noises manifested. He conducted very thorough and transparent diagnostics, sending clear pics and vids for each issue. He was upfront with all costs and supportive of prioritizing the most urgent repairs. All repairs were conducted thoroughly, and he even worked into late night Saturday to ensure we wouldn't have to hold onto the rental longer than necessary. I've owned BMWs for many years and have come across many mechanics during that time. Most have been good but few if any have been great. I have to say that Fernando at JL Motorworks is one of the best if not the best mechanic that I've worked with. I took my 330i to JL Motorworks many years back when it was under a different owner. I never went back until recently when I decided to try JL Motorworks one more time for my 2018 X3. I bought my X3 used earlier this year and it was working great. However, a couple of months into ownership I started getting so many errors on the screen. I took it to the dealership and they quoted me up to $10K in repairs. The car was still drivable until I encountered an issue where the car would not shift into gear. JL Motorworks was just down the street from me so I decided to try them one more time. Fernando was very clear on what I could expect for the diagnostic work and quoted me some reasonable pricing. After he completed the diagnostic work it turned out that both my regular battery and auxiliary battery were bad and causing many of the issues. He gave me options on the best path forward and they were replaced with many of the error codes gone afterwards. There are still a couple of issues that I need to get fixed but the quality of work, the level of detail and transparency from Fernando is unmatched. He truly does a thorough diagnostic evaluation vs just guessing from experience and replacing parts until the problem is found. He explained everything to me and described what repairs were critical and which ones we could wait a little bit on. Needless to say I will definitely be taking my cars here moving forward and highly recommending JL Motoworks and Fernando to all my friends and family that own BMWs. read more

If you are looking for professional service. If you are looking for honest price. This is NOT the place. My first impression was bad. But it got worse. To share my experience. Took my car in for engine repairs. First words out of Fernando was, "if you do not have the repairs done here, you owe me 280.00". Ok I get this, but not professional to say that right off the bat. So I get the estimate and it was outrageous expensive. Then he tells me if i do not all the repairs listed, he would not guarantee any of the work. WOW. Seriously??? Here is the worst part. My car window was open. I asked him to please close it as it was going to rain and the car was left outside. He did not bother to shut the window. The car was completely flooded inside. I took my car. And now i have to pay for the damage done to the inside because he was not professional to close the window. Now he is Harassing and Threatening me. I took my car to another honest mechanic. He gave me a great (and Honest) price for the repairs with a full guarantee and warranty in writing. I've recently had problems with my 2014 BMW 338i xDrive. The check engine light and "Drivetrain Malfunction" come and go kicking the cylinders down so the car runs like crap. I didn't want to take it to the dealer because I knew I was going to get screwed. The prices of repairs at "Stealerships" these days are ridiculous. I happened to drive by this place and saw the BMW service sign. I stopped in and spoke with the owner, Fernando. After speaking with him I knew he was the real deal. I dropped the car off for a couple days and he fixed it right at a good price. If you want your car done right, give him the time he needs. He is a true professional and he takes pride in his work. He sent me pictures and videos with detailed descriptions of the issues and the repairs needed as he inspected and repaired my car. The car runs great again as the "Ultimate Driving Machine" should. Best service hands down. I will never have my car serviced anywhere else. Let me tell you why. I have a 2018 BMW and several months ago it felt as though it was losing power... I took it to a shop that specializes in German cars. My car was there for an entire week and I was ultimately told the entire engine needed to be taken apart to even diagnose the issue- 5K!! I was shocked and unprepared for such an expense. At the advice of my best friend's hubby, I was told to call Fernando. So I did. He not only diagnosed the car- but upon identifying the problem, he directed me back to the dealer, provided extensive diagnostic documents, telling me he believed it was an issue very likely to be covered completely by the dealer. Folks- he was EXACTLY right. He could have easily made a couple bucks off of me, but because he's an honest man of integrity, he did the right thing!! And now I know that I can trust him, and anything he recommends for my car. This type of professional integrity is appreciated. He KNOWS HIS BUSINESS and is a fair and HONEST mechanic. Fernando started working on my BMW cars about six years ago. I have a 2004 325Ci convertible and a 2015 X5 50i. He has performed quite a bit of work on both cars. I have always meant to write a review for Fernando but always put it off. After my last visit, I decided to take the time and acknowledge the attributes that make him such an exemplary mechanic, person and business owner. He is extremely knowledgeable in his understanding of every operational aspect of the BMW. He has all the latest tools and equipment. His shop is always clean. He is not only the most honest and transparent mechanic I have ever known; he is probably the most honest and transparent individual that I know. Lastly, his prices are extremely fair and are always lower than what you would have to pay at the dealer. He is very conscientious about his work. He will only use genuine BMW parts, oil and other fluids. When I first started taking my cars there, Fernando examined each of them and very thoroughly explained to me, the maintenance I should be doing on the cars to keep them running properly and to prevent problems from occurring. Of course, I adopted the plan he established for my cars. The other things that I admire about Fernando and is a testament to his high integrity and character, is that he always sends you pictures of the new parts he used on your car as proof that you are getting genuine BMW parts. When you come back to the shop, he will have the old parts there so he can explain the issue that required the part to be replaced. His work on my cars have ranged from basic oil and fluid changes to very extensive mechanical and electrical repairs. I have been very satisfied with all of the work he has done. I don't have a single issue or complaint. On my 325Ci some of the repairs he has performed in addition to routine service have been: 1) replaced my coolant expansion tank and hose. 2) replaced my right and left front tie rod assembly (inner and outer). 3) removed and replaced the main drive belt kit and air conditioner belt kit. Effectively replaced the entire pulley and tensioning components. At the time he replaced the pulleys and belts, the check coolant icon light was on. Upon examination, he determined that the coolant expansion tank that he replaced earlier had an internal mechanical failure. Even though the expansion tank was out of warranty, he replaced it anyway at no cost to me. This is an example of his fairness and what makes him such a great person. On my X5 50i some of the repairs he has performed in addition to routine service have been: 1) Remove and replace the rear right and left side air springs. 2) removed and replaced all eight injection coils and engine air filter kit. This required extensive examination on Fernando's part to determine that it was the injection coils that needed replacement and not the fuel injectors. 3) The U Joint that connects the drive shaft to the transfer case broke while I was driving and damaged the drive shaft, transfer case, and transmission oil pan. Fernando replaced the transfer case, drive shaft and transmission oil pan. He connected the transfer case with the front differential. This was not a simple repair. The car drives like a dream. He even made two video clips for me in regard to the drive shaft issue. The first one Fernando was under the car while it was raised up and explained what happened and what had to be replaced and repaired. In the second video, Fernando got under the car while it was raised and explained what he replaced and how it all went back together. I know this is a long review. But it is the culmination of over six years of taking my cars to JL Motorworks. I could keep going about Fernando, but I will stop here. What I will leave you with is if you are looking for someone to become the mechanic for your BMW or Mini, or just need to get something repaired, you will not find a fairer, honest and transparent person to work on your car than Fernando. read more

My car, a 2016 BMW X5, started emitting a burnt oil smell and I could see faint traces of smoke coming from an area left of the engine. Called JL Motorworks and Fernando gave me an appointment right away. Brought the car to him and he was able to diagnose the problem and fix it within 2 days. He ended up replacing the valve cover for a very reasonable price and in the process he took and send me photos of the engine and the parts that he was replacing. Careful with Fernando, misdiagnosed or purposely for the need of money... said it was one thing and in fact was only a HOSE leaking....saved over $900 at Garbers!! My Engineer 101 skills kicked in...Trust BUT Verify! Fernando all I did was state a fact. I drove the car over 300 miles at over 100mph ...think a water pump and or thermostat can withstand that?? I never asked for anything FREE you should have charged.
