I strongly caution others before doing business with this company. An engine order was placed without my authorization, and I contacted them immediately to report it. Instead of taking responsibility, I was repeatedly told 'we will call you back,' hung up on, and ignored despite multiple calls and voicemails. Eventually, I was told a refund would be issued. However, the engine was $1,800 they returned About 2/3 of what I paid. When I called about the missing balance, I was told they did not believe the order was accidental and that they were 'losing money.' That response is completely unacceptable when a customer reports an unauthorized purchase. I was also told they call to confirm orders after shipment, but I never received any confirmation call. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism throughout this entire process is extremely concerning. If you value transparency and fair customer service, I would strongly reconsider purchasing from this company. read more

It's a scam lost 1200 today no email on shipping money just gone Called three times nothing but lies

Started out good as I called and so did my Father to learn about their JDM Engine installation. My Father was satisfied that they were knowledgable. So we decided to have them install a low mileage engine in my Rav4. it took over a week that was fine, things come up. Here is where it got ugly, hope you are sitting... 1. First engine .. paid and was happy to drive off then it surged and the dash panel looked like a Christmas tree.. all lights on! never good, so it went right back to the shop. The communication was not good during my cars second stay.** 2. Second engine seemed ok, but there were sensor issues and the Check engine light came on as I was driving home. When I called I was told because the old engine had that problem this would not resolve and that sensors were not part of the engine. 3, Return call to shop #3, I was quoted a crazy price for sensors so hunted them down myself. Car was ok a couple days then there's the light again. Oh and this chapped my hide.. the old sensor and assembly was left in the engine not far from the serpentine belt. Really? negligence! Also asked for a print out with the basic details of the engine since now the computer is one year and the engine another. Did not receive. 3.Ok, so car still runs a little rough and so we are back to being unable to smog because of the Check engine light on. had to use my own OBD2 scanner to diagnose what was going on and decided to try 2 new sensors which were 2002 ones. I was told by the shop to get the 2005 ones and they did not really work. ** This is the clencher , When we did an overall inspection at home, we discovered vacuum hoses were left unattached and when inspecting the oil filler well at idle, removed the cap and it danced across the engine there was way too much blow by. Do they not compression test these engines? Well... my old car runs which makes me happy! However, now I have to find someone to possibly scope it and look at the rings and cylinders. Really? I have wasted so much time and money! ****Now it is out of warranty. How convenient!!!. So moral of the story do more research and Don't come here! unless you are willing to compression test the engine yourself and like headaches. *The only good part is: when I was disappointed and limped away I got to use someone's nice Subaru to run errands for 2 days and they paid for 1 taxi. I was back and forth more times and paid for taxis myself and had to rent a uhaul truck one weekend, because it was in the shop. They did not listen to me even when I brought a man who is a mechanic with me. So Ladies, Guys do not let your ladies go here and expect them to have a good JDM Engine. I wish they had been honest and had better mechanics or atleast let you know you will need one because the installation will not be right and tight like I asked, if its cost? Charge more so you can get Toyota Mechanics and bench test before the client has to deal with problems read more

I purchased an engine here. Specifically for my prius. They did send an engine same with the prius but it was for a corolla. The engine fits perfectly, but I wasn't given the information until my mechanic had told me. I had to pay extra money for the extra work of installation. The customer service on the phone was unprofessional, rude, and needs a professional training. Shipping on the other hand was also delayed and i had to tell my mechanic to move it to the next day. I own a AAA approved auto shop and have bough 100s of motors over the last 30+ years and never experienced such poor customer service. My manager spoke to this seller regarding a trans and diff. we bought that did not fit our application. They told him we could return w/o a restocking fee. Not only did I have to deliver the incorrect part back to them but they charged me a restocking fee and acted like we never called. I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS AGAIN. Needed an engine for my family car so I came here for it was the most convenient and based on the reviews compared all the other JDM locations. I met with Brian asked about the price and essential questions about the engine beforehand. As I came back ready to buy the engine that's when Brian's true personality came out when simply asking him about the different price printed on the receipt. We agreed 1400 out the door while on paper it was shown different. Having the right to respectfully ask him to do his job and simply explain the difference price on paper. He for some reason chose to get offended and turned his focus on trying to make me look stupid. He was trying to take me ad a joke to get me upset but didn't bother me since I knew what his intent was. I did not disrespect him even after him disrespecting me as I was truly focusing on trying to just figure out the numbers. He was passed business wanted to get personal and I stood up for my respect but he just wanted continue to go back and forth with me and wasted my time. If he was a professional as they claim to be he would at the minimum been respectful and not take things on a personal level and feed off an argument . This is a review on the so called "professional" service they offer here and Brian was nothing but stain on that, I hope everything works out with this engine because I really don't want to deal with this narcissistic person again. read more

Not only did they secure a great, low mileage replacement engine for my car, but the work was fairly priced (do your homework) and of quality repair. In March, my water pump blew and caused damage to the engine of my 2007 Lexus Rx350. The cost to repair it was extremely high so I looked into an engine swap, and this is where I found JDM Engine Pro. Since the car had just gone over 100k miles they suggested replacing the spark plugs, thermostat, seals, and tensioner pulley- along with a new water pump. I got all that done plus a Japanese built engine installed with about 50k miles on it for FAR LESS than it would've cost just to repair the engine alone (plus my original engine had the dreaded timing cover seepage). I've driven 4k miles now after the swap with no issues whatsoever... It drives like a new car! The only reason JDM Pro doesn't get 5 stars is because the shop's appearance leaves something to be desired. It looks messy and could use some shoring up. That alone almost caused me to turn around and leave initially but I'm so glad I didn't. read more

Bought a 4AGE 20V Blacktop engine from their ebay store, Japanstarmotor. Shipping cost to Hawaii is ridiculously overpriced. No other vendor was willing to meet me halfway with shipping or remove unwanted parts to help me with weight/shipping cost. I only needed the engine and had no use for the transmission, clutch and flywheel. My phone number doesn't show up when I call people so they assume I am blocking my number, and they don't take calls from blocked numbers, but that was not an issue to begin with when you guys answered at the beginning to take my money. It's only an issue when I'm calling you guys back for my refund how funny and shady is that!? This place deserves zero stars . Not only was the service provided the worst but they send me the wrong Transmission . I tried to return it and they're taking forever to give me my refund back. I need my car. It's been sitting there for way too long now, I was relying on them sending me the right transmission because that's what I paid for. I'm never doing business with them ever again! When trying to return the transmission, they told me to take it myself to their business which in the first place I asked to be delivered because I don't have a car. How am I supposed to take it back to you guys? It was great that one of their workers went out of their way to pick it up just because they were kind enough to do me that favor while they weren't at work after hours. And sadly, from what I can see from the reviews, I am not the only person that this has happened to your reputation will be ruined by your customer service sure mistakes happen, but the least you can do is provide customer great service to your customers and show compassion and that you care that's the least you can do, and instead of treating them bad when it's not our fault you guys sent the wrong product. Part 2 of the first part that I didn't lable part one because I didn't think id be back about the same company. jdmenginepro couldnt be any further from the work pro when it comes to the expIrene I had. keep in mind their website states to give great customer support. Briefing of the first, they sent a bad transmission and claim i had to have done something to the item. so they finally send a second transmission my way after having the first transmission back in their possesi for 3weeks and some days. "They haven't looked at the old transmission to give answers to why it wasn't working properly either". Anyway, the second transmissmakes it arrive and doesn't even need to be taken off the truck because these guys are so "pro" that they sent a male transmission when I need a female transmission. The first one they sent was correct just broken, they got so tired of me calling them wondering about what is going to happen that they sent out any transmission probably not realizing or hoping that we wouldn't notice and then pull some crap move. i only feel that way when they told me that when I get the replacement transmission that if we ruin this one they won't be liable. Feels super professional to me. pls do not buy from them unless you would like to have your time and money wasted. I spent $1200 for the item and after shipping and handling it's around $1700. To send the item back cost me another $204 and to have them restock the incorrect transmission is going to cost me $200+ so I'm losing out about $900. don't be like me and go through a joke of a company. read more

Back in 2018 came to Jdm engine pro looking for VG30DE for my 300ZX/Z32 just my luck they had one at the back, I had them do compression tested all of the 6cyl. in front of me all in all was great and was in great condition and clean engine , so I give them a deposit then next day I pick up the engine give them the rest of the money ,next day took off the one side of valve cover to see the condition of cams I was amazed that the engine was so clean no brown bunt oil build up If I get another engine I recommend to get from these guys. read more

After reading all of the good reviews about JDM Engine Pro, I decided to purchase a VQ35DE motor. I had it delivered to my long time mechanic, and it got there the next day! They cleanit up before the install, and ba da bing ! The motor runs well. As stated in the confirmation email and website: all belts, gaskets spark plugs should be replaced (obviously) and they recommend replacing the water pump before install. On Christmas night, my engine got hydrolocked by flooding on the freeway. At 4am, I messaged Jonathan and asked him if he had an engine available for my Infiniti G35 and sure enough, he had it in stock. I dropped my car off on Saturday, and he had it up and running to me on Thursday the following week -- just 5 days. His prices are more than reasonable given the timeframe, as my regular mechanic was charging double for a used engine with 70k miles for 2 weeks of labor, when Jonathan's engine only had 52k miles. Purchased a used transmission from JDM was told all transmissions come in less than 60k miles , these looked very rustic and dirty, either way its used , first transmission was defective and not shifting , nonetheless sometimes that's expected, it took over a week for JDM to agree to replace it , it was like pulling teeth. JDM swears by their product and states no way it was defective, after agreeing to pick up another transmission I stated I cannot pay labor a third time if the second transmission was no good , JDM stated oh well. And offered to install it for 1200.00 . You guessed it seconds transmission has no reverse, according to JDM it is installer error, after consulting 4 different transmission technicians , they all concluded its a faulty transmission. Nonetheless I still don't have a good transmission and JDM is offering a refund but will not offer me my core back or any remedy for this mishap . They might have some good products but customer service alone is not worth coming here. I will pay a few extra dollars for my convenience and for customer service when things don't go as planned. Dishonest!!! Purchased a motor and had it installed by them for the warranty a couple days later had a oil leak from the oil pan took it back and had them look at it. Was told the pan needed to be resealed so they resealed and gave it back about 6 months later started to leak again . Took it to a "honest" mechanic and found out they sold me a motor with a crack in it !! The dishonest part is my new mechanic showed me where they pulled the pan and put gasket sealer in the inside crack so it would be hidden from outside!!! DO NOT GO TO JDM La Habra . read more
