This store is a lot bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside. I was shocked at how large the store is. Not to mention the variety of items sold. This is my new favorite Furniture store. Brian was very helpful. We have purchased several items from here in the last few months. Not, to mention that they offer free delivery. The delivery guys are awesome. We received a call each time the delivery was on its way. They arrived and were polite and kind. In some cases, they had to put the furniture together. These guys were amazing. Brian is very kind and knowledgeable. We are still looking for an electric Fireplace. He always lets us know when they are getting stock in. We also informed his boss that we appreciate that he is not a hard sell. If you have some furniture needs you have to check this place out. Not to mention, they have a ton of art with many local artists as well as others such as Bev Doolittle, Thomas Kinkade, and local past and present Nevada artists. The prices were reasonable. I found a lot of other items here like crystal, candle holders, candy dishes, etc. All of these things would be great for wedding gifts. There is so much to see inside this store. I have not made a purchase yet, but I was very pleasantly surprised. From the outside, I thought this was a small rinky-dink place but once you step inside you see it is huge. I had went to several stores looking for a recliner and when I got to J and M I was pretty well versed on what I really wanted. Brian was very helpful and polite and left me just enough alone to make me really happy with the no pressure sales pitch. He was available to answer my questions or show me where more recliners were in the store. I chose a small power recliner, brian wrote me up and said it would be 2-4 weeks to get my color requested. I got a call from Brian 7 days later and Brian informed me the chair was in. Wow! John from delivery called the next day to confirm the 2 hour window for the following day. Alex showed up with his teammate right at 1pm and got me all set up. Love the power recliner and loved the service and pricing at J and M. We needed dressers and nightstands and couldn't find anything in Reno. We bought our first bedroom set at JM Furniture in Carson City in 1986, so took the quick trip to shop. We found everything we needed quickly with Jeff's help (whom we shopped with back then) and it was delivered for free to our new place in west Reno two days later by two very friendly, competent employees. As we visited, we discovered another universal connection: DOGS! As ALL THINGS PETS pro, I've found that no matter the situation I'm in, somehow, somewhere, we all connect through pets. My review is for this JM Furniture on North Carson. Gayle and I had just bought a house in the Genoa Area, but had not yet moved everything up from our Pleasant Hill California house. Gayle's Mom lives a 10-minute walk away, so we had access to a spare bedroom and a fully stocked kitchen. However, we wanted the option to sleep in our own house, beyond an air mattress and a sleeping bag. So, we went looking for a sofa bed that would address our immediate issue and provide a guest room option in the future. We found what we were looking for at JM Furniture. Their North Carson facility is large, or should I say long and narrow (like a shot gun), and on 2 levels. The number of sofa bed options wasn't huge, but the model we purchased was of good quality and appearance, was nicely priced, and included free delivery. And having slept on it more than a few times, it was surprisingly very comfortable. I'm happily sitting on it in my "office" right now as I write this review. read more

We needed 3 sofa beds. We called around for pricing - looking for a specific Asley model. We found it at the Ashley store and at JM Furniture. Here's were it got interesting. JM Furniture had a significantly better price. They also had a faster delivery. They also new the product better! Really? Yep, they did. Trent was our salesman and he certainly gets to share the 5 star review! They delivered on time - and did a spectacular job of delivery - thank you. UPDATE: We had a problem with the seam on one of the sofas and they were super easy to work with. They had a service tech on site in a days time and fixed it perfectly - at no charge. Note: we had at least 8 conversations with personnel at this company and all were happy pleasant people - indicative of a well run company. THE WORST ! Makes me wonder how this owner Jeff can stay in business. I went there a second time giving it a second try. The first time this guy told me he's the manager there, and "Times up let's go " meaning get out. It just turned 5:00. Really ? He was very rude. I went back again 2nd time 4 mo. Later I was told from a very nice lady working there in the south JM store, that same guy 4mo. Ago got fired. So my wife and I went back to the north store where they had the couch we liked. Walking into the north store a man walked up quickly to us and said Sternly with an attitude " better late the never" I ignored it. We finished our look at the couch we liked then left. I realized I left my cell phone inside the store. They were closed Andi asked this man that I need Togo back in real quick to get my cell phone. He was very sharp and gave a heavy sigh. He failed my cell then said is that your number I said yes. He got pissed all of a sudden. Saying "well it's not ringing you can go in the south store in the morning which is only mile 1/2 down the road. Telling me " you done" let's go ! I asked him your that same guy? He said yes I'm Jeff the owner! Forcefully pulling his hand away after I was trying to shake it. He said " leave and don't come back ! " This guy Jeff the owner has serious issues! No one in this store bothered to great me as I wandered aimlessly among rows and rows of furniture for 20 minutes. So I left. Although there is *plenty* of department store-like furniture sets a la Rooms-To-Go, I don't know that I would ever buy any of the non-contemporary pieces. Not only did we get a great deal on a new couch for our new home but we also got excellent service! The real kicker was the free delivery and we live in South Lake Tahoe. The delivery was amazing. David and Ernesto we're friendly and efficient. We have a tight door way with a tight turn and it was no problem for the dynamic duo. Also they were kind enough to call me 30 minutes ahead of arriving at our home to give me time to get home from work to let them in. After scouring Reno and Carson city for furniture we always return to JM, the quality of the furniture matches the pricing, you get what you pay for. We have purchased our dining table, mattress, love seat and couch, coffee table and a tv console from JM over the years. When we go and look for our new sofa bed we will be going back to them and skip the searching in Reno. All of their sales associates are friendly, knowledgeable and patient. Tammy who works in the South Carson store is our go to sales person. Not to forget the delivery/set up guys, Brian and Gerson, these two fellows are friendly, fast and know what they are doing. We were extremely disappointed with our experience here. We were trying to support a local business and I'm sure the owner would not have appreciated the way our purchase was handled. I don't know if I'm more upset about the way Janet treated me, the delivery disaster, or the fact that we went ahead and bought the furniture anyway. I don't expect everything to be perfect, but this was a cluster. Long story short, they lied about the free delivery and when it came down to delivering to Reno, they wanted $300. Mind you, the same distance to Fallon they quoted $100. Janet, the "manager" had an attitude of indifference and did nothing to make sure we had a positive experience. She was blatantly rude on the phone and when I picked up (so much for free delivery). She sat at her desk and just shook her head at me, wouldn't even make eye contact or speak to me. She literally acted as if I wasn't standing in front of her. It was disrespectful to me as a customer and as a human being; our children don't treat people that way. She was a disgusting example of leadership to the employees who were standing there (actually being friendly and helpful). Between the lie about free delivery, our interaction with Janet, and the price increase (not all on them, but they could have helped us a little bit) we're regretting not taking our $5,000 elsewhere. read more

I Have bought several pieces of furniture from this store with wonderful results. The delivery was free. In one case, I special ordered a large canopy bed which arrived damaged. It was caught by J & M and they took care of return, inspection and redelivery all for no extra cost. Unlike 1 other viewer, I have always been greeted immediately and given great service. The repair/warranty guy Steve, the customer liaison for customer's needs after purchase, is not professional. The feeling you get is he is trying to get out of work and save the company a buck. Maybe that is his job, but he really does need to work on his customer service manner. I won't do business there again. It's too bad because the sales people work very hard to take care of customers. Ryan our salesperson was nice enough to move stuff around in a grouping so we could view it, and provided us with all the information we ask for.
