Called JMV and Juan answered the phone right away, kindly listened, and did his best to accommodate my desperate needs as we had huge storms approaching and my elderly parents were at risk of severe damage or even death if the trees didn't come down immediately. Juan came out that very day and offered a very fair estimate and said his crew would be there in two days. Eyeing the gathering black clouds I pleaded with him to see if a crew was available next day-and you know what? JMV came through!!! In the midst of a storm rivaling the apocalypse a crew of five men, led by Juan's brother Jonathan, arrived to the property on time and prepared. We know that doctors, nurses and firefighters are heroes, but the tree surgeons deserve that title too. What they do is high risk and it can be argued they are saving lives by preventing electric cables coming down and roofs falling in. They tried to keep things clean and tidy even as the rain battered and soaked them. Then I noticed that I had estimated wrong and we needed another low hanging tree over the garage to be trimmed. With great shame and despair, propelled by fear, I asked Jonathan if they could trim a few additional large branches at the close of the day. Jonathan immediately connected with Juan for a revised estimate and got it going. I can't say the crew was happy about this, but nevertheless they worked just as diligently and carefully-always remaining professional. My parents live on a creek with many old and unkempt trees, I am planning on keeping JMV on speed dial. I promise them I won't wait until another big storm and will be better prepared to host them. They were prepared and then some, we all kept marveling at these heroes who came to save the day in the worst atmosphere imaginable. Keep in mind they only take cash. This was a surprise for us and a bit difficult since it was only revealed after we approved the estimate and booked the job. Their prices are reasonable but tree service isn't cheap. Be aware they don't take credit. Hopefully YELP will post my review as my old account disappeared and I have to start new... TLDR; JMV responded and acted promptly and professionally to fell three large trees, remove a stump, remove two trees and trim large branches of an oak on a steep creek bank all in the storm of a century. I needed someone to check out my pine tree located at the top of steep hill in my back yard. I called JMV Tree Service and Juan came over right away. He gave me a very fair estimate for making sure the tree was safe, cutting away some of the branches and other trimming I needed done on other overgrown plants. He told me the firm is licensed and insured which is important to me. A week later five people came to my house on time and laid out a tarp to protect my house from branches scratching anything. They worked for over two hours climbing the tree, cutting branches and bundling them up for disposal. After everything was done, they cleared everything up, cleaned the back and front of any debris left behind, used the chipper to chop everything up and went on their way, the whole crew were eager to please and went out of their way to do extra things. They seemed to enjoy their work. They were all very pleasant. I highly recommend them and will certainly use them again. I would highly recommend JMV Tree Service both for periodic yard cleanups and for insurance-mandated clean outs of overgrown backyards. The company is fully licensed and insured (which is a dealbreaker for me) and they still quoted a very fair price. The team came out -- not just promptly but early -- to do the scheduled yard cleanup on a drizzly day in SF. I was pleasantly surprised, considering the weather. The workers were respectful of the property and the homeowner, and they were efficient and polite. The crew cleaned up after themselves, leaving the property in great shape. I had a very positive experience with JMV Tree Service. I requested a quote from them through Yelp for the trimming of three tall redwoods and an oak tree in our yard. Juan responded within minutes. We scheduled a time that day for him to come and give me a quote. The amount was reasonable and I accepted. Juan's professional proposal was emailed to me and the work was scheduled. This was all done that day. On the day of the work, Luis, the project manager, and his crew of five arrived on time. They came with a bucket truck that got to the redwoods' high branches. For the branches away from the street that could not be reached with the bucket, two tree climbers went up into the trees and did the work. It was all done quickly and well. Juan came to see the property and provided a quote to trim a lot of trees we have, all in a very timely fashion, and the quoted price was very reasonable. The team that came to remove the tree were fabulous and so professional through the entire process of cutting down, removal stump grinding! They put up protection over the windows, worked so well together cleaned the property up and went to the neighbors and cleaned their properties.. They finished a little earlier than expected and decided to stay a little later to do the stump grinding. They were truely wonderful. We have an oak tree that sits along the property line and had prompted the fire department to start getting a bit grumpy with us regarding growth encroaching on the two structures. JMV did a great job trimming, and reducing the weight load, so there's a much nicer standoff. Historically, my issue with arborists is they often start work promptly at 7:30-8AM. The chainsaws and chippers wake up the old folks, people that work nights, or general neerdowells, and piss off everyone around you. JMV arrived at a much more agreeable 9:30 and started around 10. This was the second job they've done for us and I'd certainly call them for a third. read more
