Horrible experience! Went in with my friend who is looking for wedding dresses and we have never experienced such terrible customer service. We picked out some dresses for her to try on and were assigned a teenager as our bridal consultant, she seemed to be the daughter of one of the ladies working in the store. This girl kept rolling her eyes and asking if we were done picking dresses. We were worried that we had walked in around their closing time, so we looked at the time and it was 1pm... they close at 3pm. When we moved to the dressing room, I asked if she could provide some heels to try on the dress with and she sighed, rolled her eyes, and acted like I had just asked her for a limb. When my friend was ready to try on the next dress, I grabbed it from the hanger outside of the dressing room because there was no one around to help, and when she noticed me grabbing the dress, she hurried over to rudely scold me and tell me to ask for it and not grab it myself. By the 3rd dress, we felt so uncomfortable and mistreated that when my friend took off the dress and I handed it to the girl, we told her we were done looking. This girl snatched the dress from my hand and stormed off without saying a word. We walked out of the store and not once did an adult come to check on us, we were the only customers in the store. This is not the kind of treatment I was expecting when shopping for such an expensive item. When you are looking to purchase a dress for the most important day of your life and you are shelling out thousands of dollars on an article of clothing, you would expext the treatment to be commensurate. This was the most unpleasant shopping experience. You could probably get better treatment at the deli at Walmart than you would at this bridal shop. read more

My friend suggested Jo-Lin's Bridal. The shop isn't anything fancy but had a decent selection. I wouldn't go here if you're looking for good customer service though. Linda is rude and unhelpful. She talked to me like I was a child over the phone when I asked her a question. Also, would consider her to be dishonest. I have plenty of friends a acquaintances that live in Columbia that I have told my story to in hopes of saving them the trouble of dealing with this store. Jo Lins is awful! My brother got married Saturday and only one tux actually fit, and his shoe fell apart during the ceremony. We literally were snipping and sewing tuxes ourselves just to make them presentable. One guy fit six full sized towels in his jacket! The worst part was that the owner didn't take responsibility or try to fix the situation. It was OUR fault that we didn't tell her soon enough that they didn't fit. Her mom Mrs. Linda is such a sweetheart and made my dress shopping extra special. Just went in for my first fitting and Mrs. Pam did a great job starting the hem so I can walk in my dress. I am writing this review as the mother of the bride. I had an excellent experience at Jo-Lin's. I decided about a month before my daughter's wedding that I did not like the dress I had purchased over a year ago. I had ordered it online and it was just not dressy enough for the wedding. I went to Dillard's, New York Bride, and David's Bridal first. I found the staff to be non-responsive at all three places and I did not like the selection for a mother of the bride dress. I passed Jo Lin's one day and decided to stop. I am so thankful that I did. The ladies there helped me find the perfect dress for me. In fact the dress that I ended up buying was one that I had decided not to try on. They convinced me to try it and it was perfect. They allowed me to buy if off the rack instead of ordering one due to my timeframe. They picked out the perfect jewelry. I felt like I was beautiful in this dress adding to my extreme happiness over my daughter's marriage. read more

I got my wedding dress as well as my bridesmaid dresses here. The dress was exactly what I was looking for- right price range and all. The shop owner is a nice lady to deal with. There was a fair wait time for the dress to come in, but this is normal. That is where the positives end. Once the alterations process began, it was all downhill from there. The communication was very poor. I called 3 times asking if my dress was ready (it was well past the date they had given me) and on the THIRD call they told me I had to make an appointment to pick my dress up. Not only was the communication very poor, but so were the alterations. The beadwork that was added fell off and we had to fix it, the bustle was done incorrectly and didn't tie up properly at my rehearsal, and they didn't even bother to steam my dress! It was full of wrinkles! If all of this wasn't bad enough, my dress was ready so far past when they told me that I had to cancel my bridal portraits! I'd say you're good to buy a dress here, but DEFINITELY get someone else to do the alterations. read more

My experience here was horrible! First off they don't take appointments so it's like a free for all. Then they only have one size in all the dresses so if you aren't a size 2 (I'm a size 10 so not that big) you can't try anything on. The lady that was with me kept saying oh well this is how it looks on the model so if you really like it we can order the size you need. Well yeah of course you can order the dress in my size but I'm not going to buy something I can't try on. The associate also kept bringing me the same variation of the same dress. read more

After trying on multiple dresses this location was the only one that had a specific style I was looking for. Upon walking in I was greeted in a very friendly manner by a young lady who I then explained I was looking for a specific style number. She began looking and sent me to the dress rack, to go through and pick my own dresses to try on. There was absolutely no assistance in or around the dressing room, along with no mirrors except for the show room. I had no choice but to display an ill fitting dress in front of their entire staff and any other customers there. No offer to clip the dress on so I could see how it should look. Their tones were very rude and unprofessional. Someone who I'm assuming was the owner, actually yelled across the store that I would need to order soon when I was asked when the wedding I was shopping for would be. Highly disappointed. Overall do not recommend, save your time and go to Bella Bridesmaids in Columbia, where you can make an appointment and have assistance for you and you alone. read more

I visited Jo-Lin's last month after researching wedding gowns for several weeks. Their website said they had a lot of designers that I liked, so I thought they would be a good bet for me. When I got there, the selection of dresses was disappointing, and they only carried each dress in one size, so it was really hard to visualize what they would look like. The girl "helping" me left me alone in the dressing room with my dresses to fend for myself. She never pinned me into the dresses, and I had to walk to the other side of the store to see myself in the mirror, which was embarrassing since the dresses were barely on me. The dresses were in terrible condition, and now I know why because I was left to struggle into a 50-pound dress by myself. I would never step foot in this place again. read more

I am very disappointed in this store. Some of the ladies I first encountered were nice but the manager Linda I believe is her name absolutely ruins it completely. There is an extreme lack of customer service and at first you may get the impression this store is okay but BEWARE if you need anything or have to deal with Linda especially it is awful. She SHOWED MY DRESS TO SOMEONE WITHOUT ASKING MY PERMISSION!! This is not a good standing bridal store based on many other reviews I am not the only one that feels this way. And I must comment one of the other reviews on here says if you have a problem with tuxedos that you should take it up with company directly, ummm excuse me if Jo Lin's is providing tuxedo rental from a vendor and you have an issue, as a business it is Jo Lin's job to make it right and they should contact the vendor!!! you pick from a catalog not knowing anything about the vendor providing the tuxedos and Jo Lin's represents them by providing their products. If you have a problem with the food at a restaurant they dont get to blame it on their food vendors and be rude to you! This is called a business and customer service should be provided not blame laid on the customer during these special moments in our lives. I loved my dress from here thankfully but the experience was awful! Other bridal stores carry the same brands try London and Lace or Evelyn's bridal in Lugoff SC, I had great experiences at both places for bridesmaids dresses and my friends that were the brides raved about their experience at both of those places! My sister was a bridesmaid in a wedding in Columbia this weekend. The night before the wedding we discovered she had bought the wrong color dress (she had garnet and the color was supposed to be black). The morning of the wedding I called every wedding shop within 40 miles trying to find a replacement dress with no luck until I reached Jo Lin's. The ladies could not have been more sweet and helpful. They went through their inventory and found us two dresses that could possibly work. My sister was already in pre wedding hair and makeup at that point so the amazing ladies went above and beyond and texted us photos of the dresses and gave us great info about the way the sizing worked so we could be sure it would fit my sister without her being able to try it on beforehand. I drove straight over and purchased the closest matching one and it was absolutely perfect. It fit my sis like a glove and no one could tell it wasn't the *exact* dress as the other bridesmaids. And we also got an adorable bohemian hair accessory, as they had the cutest stuff. If you're in the Columbia area I could not recommend Jo Lin's more. They absolutely saved the day and have a gorgeous selection! read more

I visited Jo-Lin's Bridal on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 11:00 am. I made sure I arrived at the store as soon as it opened. I was extremely excited about visiting the store because of all of the great designer dresses they carried. Linda was the employee on duty and I found her to be very rude. I asked her to assist me with locating the prices of a few gowns I was interested in trying and she said she couldn't do that. She suggested that I return to the store on a day when I had more time to find the prices myself because their "dresses have tags on them". I expressed to her that I did not live in Columbia and she told me she has plenty of brides who come from other areas of the State so I could come back another day. I was so disappointed in my visit that I left the store without even looking at any of the dresses. I was so upset by the lack of service I received that I called the store back and asked to speak with a manager. I was informed that the rude associate who assisted me was also the manager - Linda. After speaking with her regarding our encounter at the store she offered no apologies for her behavior, she simply said thank you. I do not recommend this store at all. Although, I spoke with several of the other employees prior to my arrival on the 16th and they were very helpful, Linda was awful. I think it would benefit the company as well as Linda to receive some customer service and even some cultural diversity training. read more

What a horrible experience! I made an appointment to look at wedding dresses for my wedding in March next year. I should've known from the phone call that this would not go well. The lady was pushy and kept telling me I was behind on picking out my dress. This was my first bridal boutique so I was pretty excited. When I walked in a young lady approached us. She was already in a bad mood and seemed annoyed that we were even there. I told her I had an appointment at 2:00. She didn't even ask my name, what was I looking for, or my budget. She simply gave me a stack of colored rings and told me to put them on the hanger of dresses I liked. I was there with my parents and we were given no direction at all. We had to ask how the dresses were sorted so we knew where to begin. They had very few dresses to chose from and the dresses that were there were in poor condition. I'm not expecting them to be perfect since they are samples but the majority looked rough and dated. I gave it a chance and looked around at the two rows of dresses. Keep in mind that we were the only people in the store and the staff did not offer to help us at all. I approached her and asked about a specific designer. When I originally called about my appointment I spoke to an older lady and told her which designer and dresses I was interested in and she assured me that she had them. After I finally located the designer they had about 15 dresses to chose from which again, were not what I was looking for. I had to approach the staff again and told her I was looking for a dress with sleeves. Instead of offering me assistance she decided to argue with me that I don't really want sleeves. Last time I checked it's up to me, not her. I understand that brides have an idea of their dress and it doesn't always stay the same but if I want to look at dresses with sleeves, then I'm going to. She kept telling me I needed to try on what they had just to try on one. After putting my foot down that I was not going to do that she brought out another staff member who seemed even more annoyed. I told her again what I was looking for and she told me the same thing. "You think you want sleeves but you don't. No bride ends up buying the dress they think they want originally." At this point I was over the appointment and wanted to leave. She offered me one more option and told me I could pay to have other samples brought in. After the experience I just had with those two young ladies, I was not about to spend over $100 just to have a dress shipped there to try it out. I declined the offer and left the store. I don't think I was even inside for 15 minutes but that was more than enough. Everyone deserves better customer service than that. I would hate for any other bride to go through the same thing. Save yourself the disappointment and go somewhere else!! read more
