I didn't care much for the chicken burrito as they use shredded chicken which I dread . Other than the chicken , the beans and flavors were on point. The burrito is on the smaller side so be aware . I'd return for the birria tacos . The meat was tender and plentiful and a lot more filling and satisfying . read more

Extremely yummy! I got 2 orders (each order is 2 tacos); one shrimp, the other chorizo. The texture on the tortilla is perfect, the shrimp was succulent, with a tad of aioli; the chorizo was a tad salty, but otherwise deeply flavorful and actually quite spicy (in a way that was nice and worked out). The pico de gallo was fresh and provided great counterbalance to the proteins. read more

Hands down the best quesadilla I've had maybe ever!!! The ladies were smiley, so warm, and fast. I was nervous there were no seats here but I snapped a pic for future patrons awareness - there are 3 tables and a mini bar for 3. The birria taco with consume dip was really good. Back to the quesadillas though lol she served it with spicy green sauce. I asked did she have regular salsa instead. Her answer was no but she said they have chipotle mayo. Listeeenn the quesadillas are flavorful & juicy you don't need sauce but the chipotle mayo every for every two bites was niiiice. If I'm in the area again I'd absolutely come here!!! Geez, we've been sleeping on this place. I had no idea that Jo's was so close to my apartment. It's a tiny space, but the food is bomb! Their birria tacos definitely rank in my top three around the city. Sadly, our fave, Kuxé, closed awhile back. As a close runner-up, Jo's satisfies, plus it's a lot closer to home. I'm not sure I'll ever understand the whole selling-the-consommé-as-a-separate-item thing, mostly because I feel like birria tacos are just a delivery device for the broth, but... I don't run the business. I just think it's a crime to order the tacos sans concomitant elixir. And the chicken quesadilla was easily one of the most jam-packed, delightful renditions of this dish I can recall having in the past year. It was bursting at the seams with fillings, and made for a great backup birria consommé sponge after we'd finished the tacos. Extremely small taco shop in the heart of the East Village. Seating for about 10. We enjoyed dining in as the food was extremely fresh. The two member restaurant team was welcoming and efficient. First off, immediately when walking in, you feel surrounded; but in a familiar way. Not suffocating and stressful, but like walking into your favorite childhood Mexican food spot. Service was quick, efficient, and straight to the point. However I saw a care in this employee's eyes that I never quite got from Tacobell or hell even Chick Fil-A. I see passion. A real Mexican food spot with real people. I ordered a carne asade burrito and my friend ordered Birria tacos. I have nothing but good things to say about Jo's. It's a cute, very small restaurant near Union Square. It seats about 5 people total at a time but the food is impeccable. Some of the best Mexican food I've had in a while. The quesadilla and tacos were so flavorful and authentic. The staff were incredibly friendly and answered a lot of questions that we had. The Barria tacos were delicious but they give you a little small size of the consome broth. So if you order the special of 2 tacos for $11 you don't have enough consome broth and that is what makes Barria tacos. They want you to buy a cup of the consome broth for $3.50. When other places give you a big cup of it when you order tacos. This is how they get you to spend more money. I felt cheated because Barria tacos are meant to have the consome broth. Good spot for tacos but make sure to expect a little small consome with your tacos! read more

We've been to Jo's Taco twice now and it is definitely a hidden gem. Best birria tacos in the city, and quite possibly the best quesadilla. We tried both the chicken and chorizo quesadillas; they're both fantastic but chorizo might have the edge. The chef, who I assume is Jo, is always friendly and greets you with a big smile. The place is tiny, with just a few two-tops, but they serve the food on real plates with a cute consommé bowl for the birria tacos. Definitely add this spot to your list, even if just for take-out. It will not disappoint. read more

I helped take some videos of Jo's and their products. Afterwards, we ended up ordering food from them and, I can say with total honesty, it was incredible. The chef is such a perfectionist that he works to make sure everything not just tastes good, but also LOOKS good. I appreciated his attention to detail and how they take the time to make housemade drinks, salsas, and sauces! The woman at the counter did not address us and immediately went into the back for several minutes. When she finally came to the front she did not greet us and bluntly asked for our order via Grubhub. She then pleasantly greeted the gentleman behind us and another customer behind him. At this point, I recognized they did not appreciate my business, so I requested a refund. They told me to seek it online. They were not a courteous establishment. read more

Yes yes yes!!! Jo's Taco is soooooo good!! We tried multiple things (vegan and non-vegan) and everything was so fresh, tasty, and perfectly cooked. Plus everyone working there is incredibly nice and sweet. I recommend this place 100%. My only complaint is that it's TOO GOOD and I had to use all of my self control to not eat absolutely everything off the menu. Thank you Jo's Taco! read more

This location is convenient to Grand Central, Bryant Park, & Times Square. I was excited to find them after a getting off the Metro North. Unfortunately, the two times that I've eaten there hasn't been great, compared to their other locations in NoHo & Union Square. I'm not sure if the more touristy ambiance & customers makes a difference. First visit got the Pork Adobada Taco ($5-ish). It's similar to Al Pastor (even served with a few pieces of pineapple) but spicy. It's pork marinated in an adobo sauce made from dried red chiles (like guajillo or ancho), vinegar, garlic, and spices. The corn tortilla was very fresh & good but the pork was SO spicy. Some kind of chili oil was drizzled on, in, within, at the bottom. It comes with a sort of green crema. I barely finished - thought it was a joke or something. The second visit I got the Adobada (requested Zero spice) & a Chicken taco. The pork meat was delicious & reminded me of the first time I had Los Tacos No. 1. The chicken seemed like dark meat & was either over-marinated, slightly undercooked, or on its way out? resulting in weird mushy, slightly liver-like consistency. I even picked through the pieces to check for pinkness...the meat was just dark with little flavor. It came with a dollop of guacamole that didn't have much flavor. The corn tortillas also seemed slightly mealy/mushy & underdone. They weren't airy & slightly puffed as usual. I'll probably go back because their location and cost is convenient. But have to make sure the pork has No Spice & not sure how to ask for "done" tortillas. There's always a line at Los Tacos but it moves fast. The condiments & radishes, limes are always fresh. The staff is always pleasant & work quickly customizing your taco, wiping down the All White! hightops & refilling napkins. Don't think there's a restroom FYI.

Announced at the start of trivia that prizes would be given to 1st and 2nd place winners and even…read morementioned right after the game ended that prizes would be given out to 1st and 2nd place winners. However, after waiting 10 minutes+, we asked about it and they decided not to do 2nd place prizes because there weren't "enough" teams (there were 8 teams), even though they knew how many teams there were during both announcements. Lying is super uncool. Don't take their word for anything - won't be back. Otherwise, food was good, and service was fine.

Was plenty of food and imho better than the last time I ate there with friends! Maybe it's a different chef but today's food was really good and impressed me considering the travel time. Service was great. Once I got there the hostess went to get my order and was prompt about it as well as wrapping it in the bag for me. Ambiance was nice and quiet since I picked up before rush/dinner time.

It was very good. No complaints. The chips could have used more salt though which is always a concern. You'd think Mexican spots would have a tortilla chip down by now. I ordered a steak quesadilla. The steak was tender and had pretty good flavor. I just wish there was more. Especially considering the price. Certainly not a bad quesadilla but the value wasn't quite there. Still, a fine option if you want Mexican food and you are in the area. I'd say the 3.5 rating is pretty spot on.

It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. The food was fine, appetizers were all fresh but lacked any real depth in flavor. I wasn't too thrilled with the bone marrow I had either (but the tortillas come in the cutest basket). Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.

Visited again and still my favorite pizza spot in ny!…read more we got the angry nonna, vodka square, and the house slice. the detroit style slices were our favorite. it was the perfect combination of delicious flavors and the crust was perfect. the angry nonna had a great combination of salty salami coupled with sweet hot honey and the vodka slice was so saucy and had such a great flavor. both slices were wrapped up perfectly by the crunchy crust that gave the slice great structure too! will absolutely be back and hope to see more mama's toos around the city!

Our wait was at least an hour and a half and were texted when our table was ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating with one bathroom for all to use. We got the viral pancakes and they were everything you'd dream they be and then some for sure very filling and buttery. I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. Weather you come for the viral moment this feels like a solid staple in the community with bright music playing everyone kind of everywhere and just a relaxed feel that you can't wait to enjoy after you get seated. Bathroom rating 5/5 very clean for how busy the place is :)

The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

Smaller than I thought. Now I know why there is always such a long wait.

The lamb spine came in a delicious broth, but it was a bit hard eating the lamb from the bone for not a lot of meat. The house steamed fish was also amazing. They don't take online reservations for groups over 5, so we called to make one for our group of 6. It was pretty busy Friday night, so would recommend. The service was great; they drew the cutest card when they found out it was my brother's birthday and let us bring a cake. And they also offered hair ties to the people with long hair. You order through an iPad which has a beautiful menu.
