Standing room only! Long lines at peak times for pretty much all of their locations in the city. They do have it down to a science though. You order at the counter. Get your drink there and a slip with your food items on it. Take the slip to the next counter where they prepare it. They're masters at it so they're cranking out a taco probably every 15 to 20 seconds. There's a line of workers operating the grills to get the meat and tortillas ready for the prep guys. So efficient. No seats. You stand and eat which really keeps the turn over rate high. The inside is no frills. Standing room only to eat your tacos and exit. The food is so good. $6 a taco but it's NYC. Love everything about this place and I try to frequent it for a quick bite as often as I can.

Went twice during my trip. Some of the best tacos I've ever had. Don't let the long line hold you back, it moves quick. Standing room only inside and it's not that big, but if you want it to go just ask for some foil.

I'll just say it: best tacos in the world. Completely subjective, I know -- but Los Tacos No. 1 makes it hard to argue otherwise. The ingredients are fresh, simple, and clearly quality. Tortillas are made to order right in front of you, and the whole experience just feels authentic and joyful. I had the steak and pork tacos, my friend got chicken -- we went back for a second round. That says everything. A few tips for first-timers: -- Don't sleep on the quesadillas. Seriously. -- If you like crispy tortillas, order the tostada -- they deep fry it and the result is incredible. -- Get the Horchata. It's not overly sweet and pairs perfectly with the tacos. The staff is 10/10 friendly and efficient. Don't be intimidated by the line -- it moves fast. Case in point: on a rainy morning, there was already a line at 11:01 AM (the place opens at 11). People know what they're doing here. The atmosphere is relaxed. They have nice, authentic music playing at all times. Highly, highly recommend.

The food influencers did not lie, the Adobada taco is out of this world. There's so much flavor packed in this small, yet filling taco. I'm a native southern Californian and I was absolutely delighted at the quality of this Mexican food. After you order you give your ticket to the cook and they make your taco fresh, allowing you to get all the toppings or choose your toppings. It's really spacious, with high top rectangular tables for quick eating and some sit-down tables.

Deliciously charred meats and nice tortillas that almost lives up to California tacos. Being from LA, the prices are quite jarring, but if you're really craving a good taco, this lives up to the hype.

Being from California, I was definitely missing my usual taco run and not going to lie, I've always missed on trying taco spots anytime over traveled away from home. When my coworker said this was the best taco spot in the area, I had to check it out and it was absolutely worth it!! With how cold the weather was, there was still a line out the door, but it moved fairly quickly. The menu had all the options one could want to try. They did make it pretty easy to order and then get your tacos, no waiting for a. Umber to be called. Just walk up to the counter and the guys will whip up your tacos in a minute! These tacos were packed full, balanced with salsa and guacamole. I was getting full after 1 with how filling and big each taco was. The horchata was absolutely divine. 10/10 recommend to come here if craving Mexican food!

Best tacos and horchata in the area. $6 a taco and quesadillas are a few dollars more. I frequent here for the horchata!

Came here for my second time and it was just as good as my first experience. They really have a great system here for fast service. Food is also incredible. Super tasty and quality ingredients. Definitely recommend!

Los Tacos No. 1 is widely considered one of the best taco spots in the city, and their location near Grand Central (on 41st Street) is a lifesaver for a quick, high-quality meal. The best tacos in NYC, hands down! If you are near Grand Central and want an authentic, high-speed, and delicious meal, you have to stop at Los Tacos No. 1. This location is very high-energy and it is standing room only, but that's all part of the experience! You order, watch them press the tortillas fresh right in front of you, and eat while they're piping hot. Everything we tried was excellent: Steak (Carne Asada) Tacos: Perfectly charred and so flavorful. Chicken (Pollo Asado) Tacos: Usually, chicken can be an afterthought, but these were juicy and seasoned perfectly. They keep it simple and focused, which is why it's so good. It's the perfect pit stop for a quick bite that actually lives up to the hype. Very, very good--I'll be dreaming about these tortillas! I had been hearing about it for so long and I must admit they live up to the hype! Plenty of countertops for people to lean on.

Might be the best tacos in manhattan, these are always consistent for me -- I've had all the taco choices and I think Carne Asada is easily the best (surprise, it's the most expensive too) -- get two of those, on CORN, fully loaded with everything as is, and thank me later. Also don't sleep on the chips and guac, which is very good. It's about 10 degrees outside right now and instead of wearing gloves in this weather, I am still SCRAPING the inside of this guac container with chips trying to get EVERY LAST DROP! I've not had the speciality drinks, but they look good and I've heard great things. This spot is a no frills, hand your ticket to the line, and then eat standing up with some counter tables -- personally I wouldn't have it any other way though.

This was one of the spots on our must eat list that we made before traveling. It's right next to Grand Central Station so was perfect for grabbing some tacos before starting our day. This location does not have seating, so you are standing while you eat which I am totally okay with. It just means the food goes down quicker. We ordered a few different tacos and loved them all. We will try to come back before heading home.

This location is near grand central (1 block down from main entrance). The tacos are always on point, no matter what you order. I always get adobada (al pastor) Standing room only and always packed. All their locations have the same feel, white tiles and open space with counters. There is a salsa station off to the side. Only downside to this location is that there's a line out the door during lunch and at certain times after work. If you catch it outside those peak times its zero wait and fast.

    Tacos: steak left, pork right
    Michelle T.

Grand Central location review: This is one of my favorite places for a quick bite/snack (quick when there isn't a long line during peak hours). Tacos served with your choice of corn or flour tortilla, plus options to add on any of the following guacamole, cilantro, onions and salsa... that's all, no need for options like sour cream or cheese. My go to is usually 2 tacos, one pork (adobada $5.65 plus tax), one steak (carne asada &5.95+ tax) on corn tortillas with guac, onions and cilantro (no salsa). Simple, yummy, consistently good, but a little salty.

There are Los Tacos all over the city. We go to 42nd and Park. I believe the one in Chelsea Market is also hugely popular.

Is there any seating available or is it standing only?

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

The birria tacos were really good (or so my son said) but sadly the taquitos were terrible. They literally just had unseasoned shredded chicken (but serves me right for ordering something so basic). The salsa also tasted more like tomato paste than actual salsa. But again, the goal for this stop was a frozen marg(s) and that mission was accomplished and then were good . The atmosphere was also fun and lively and our server was attentive and never tried to push us out the door despite sitting there for a while!

The energy was flat, and that lack of enthusiasm carried right into the food. The menu needs a complete overhaul. I'm not sure if it's trying to be "different," but the taco options were unappealing just from reading the descriptions. I managed to choose the two best-sounding items I could find, and honestly, they were so bland I don't even remember what they were. The setup and decor were basic. This spot could be a fun hangout, but it would take a better menu and staff who actually seem to care. It feels like just another restaurant that's lost sight of creating an actual experience for guests. The lack of vibe is obvious--if you don't want customers, just say so. I'm giving 2 stars out of respect for the fact that people have to work for a living.

I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. The food was fine, appetizers were all fresh but lacked any real depth in flavor. I wasn't too thrilled with the bone marrow I had either (but the tortillas come in the cutest basket). Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
