The machine was purchased yesterday not used at all paid in cash with receipt! She was treated like she stole the machine and not even greeted as she walked in !! ( the staff rolled there eyes as soon as she walked in without even asking her the situation) this is why I avoid this store and will drive to San Jose! We have few seamstresses in the indigenous community and we will make sure we will not give this place anymore business for our fabrics !! This store has been a go-to since it's so close to me. However multiple times I've been met with some of the worst customer service. Normally I grant a grumble under my breath and continue on with my day. However today was a step too far. I called just to see if there had been any updates on my pick up order. I was waiting for someone to answer the phone for about 2 minutes. Once an associate answered, I asked if there were any updates on a pick up order because the app had not updated (mind you I placed the order early this way it would hopefully be ready early). When the associate responded in a snarky tone that she "wouldn't know anything about that because I have quite a few orders". I responded with "okay" and hung up the phone. I've been in the retail business, I get how busy it gets, how demanding customers can be. That being said, that is not how you treat customers. It's a small store with a handful of employees and I'm completely understanding of that. But to go through that and then receive an email stating my order was ready is an example of poor customer service. There were so many orders but I'm assuming she saw the phone number I called from and was able to locate the order within minutes. I get it. It's a busy time. I feel awful that I didnt get the employees names but I wanted to say I love the help they both provided and that I enjoy coming here. The gentleman helped me last Saturday evening helping me after my last sewing machine jammed up where I had to return it to the previous place I purchased it and found a machine that fit what I needed. And the young lady today who has helped me several times before (disney fan like myself and has amazingly beautiful colored hair!) helped me pick out the right items needed so my silk fabric wouldn't slip because I was having such difficulties because I am a new sewer. During the Covid-19 shelter-in-place order, I used 4 different Joann Fabric stores to get fabric and notions used to make ~100 reusable face masks. The Morgan Hill location, while farther away than 2 other locations, became my first choice if the had the needed item in stock. I never needed to wait more than 2 days for them to fill an order; more than once an order placed at night was ready when they opened the next day. Always pleasant, their customer service was top notch. Very disappointed after the horrible experience I had here today. I have been shopping here since I moved to the area 16 years ago. Today while being rung up by Vicky, I asked two questions, one about the sale price and one about a coupon I had. To which she said in a loud voice "excuse me" like I was a child who was in trouble. Then proceeded to lecture me soo everyone in line could hear how the items I was purchasing were on sale and my coupon wouldn't work and that I was getting a good deal already. By the way my coupon did work. I also told her in a much nicer voice than the one she used on me that she didn't have to be so rude. Her response was I'm not being rude, but.... I haven't been that embarrassed in a while and I am thoroughly disappointed in the conduct of your employee. Maybe some manners and more training on how to talk to other human beings is in order. Had an unfortunate experience at the Morgan Hill JoAnn store today. I went to purchase an item from the baking section (a pan). The price was clearly marked for $14.99. When at the register, the price came up as $18.99 (more than 25% higher). When I questioned this, I was told that due to inflation, prices had gone up but they weren't able to 'keep up" with changing the price tags and they refused to honor the ticketed price. I even had the checker walk over with me so that I could show her that it truly was marked at $14.99. She scanned the price sticker, and even though it showed $14.99, it came up as $18.99. We checked a second item that showed a price of $10.99, but came up as $14.99 when scanned. I did not buy the item I had planned to. This seems very wrong. Buyer beware and make sure you pay attention if you shop at this store. Otherwise you may be paying much more than you intended to! read more

Now they mimic the worst parts of Hobby Lobby, which happens to be on the other side of town. If I wanted a sparsely populated store, with an unfriendly and overworked staff, I would go there. I placed an order online, I'm not sure what store it came from, I order 2-string lights 4- coffee cups, I received my package in a very large box (over sized) open the box 3- broken coffee mugs not wrapped very good the 2 small boxes of lights and 1 coffee cup had a single brown paper laying on the top, but the mug not even wrapped completely broken pieces all over the box, I have emailed Jo-Ann twice now, no response, they can't say it's usps fault because they didn't pack box with the correct size box and correctly wrapped the cup, very disappointed with Joann's not sure if I would shop there again, thank you for taking the time to ready this read more

I've been here a few times, and the customer service is horrible. Rarely will anyone greet you, or even acknowledge that you are IN their store. The one time I bought some fleece fabric here, I waited about 20 minutes plus, to have someone look my way, and say they'd be with me in a minute (was more ;) I waited, and waited, by the fabric counter, and they really just ignore the customers, until "they" are ready to deal with you. So.... I'm a handicapped person who was told by a store employee to contact the store prior to picking up multiple curbside orders because I was traveling from a distance. However, when my in care worker arrived for the pick up, the male worker verbally abused him for asking about the multiple orders. Following directions isn't "redundant" as the callous employee advised because it costs nothing to ask a question. However, it costs you a customer when you purposely act to insult someone who just spent $1,000 with your company. I'll file a complaint with the BBB and corporate as there's no need to insult anyone. I cannot believe how horrible the customer service is here. Katie, the manager (can't even believe she's a manager) is one of the rudest people I have ever had the non pleasure of interacting with. Maddie is high up there on the list too. If you ask for help, they treat you as you're being a huge inconvenience to them. I'm in there ALOT because I live right down the street and I have various craft hobbies. I honestly can't even remember a time in 4 years of going here that I had a positive experience. I had a very different experience than the other Yelpers who wrote on this review. First off, when going to a large chain craft store I do not anticipate much in the way of customer service. For that I go to small local shops. This store is very well organized in the fabric section. Fat quarters are placed in a color coded arrangement around half of the perimeter of the large fabric section. Also, the button selection is one side of an entire aisle. had purchased a gift card at the Salinas location for my aunt that lives in Santa Cruz. Before purchasing I asked the employee if the gift card is valid at the Santa Cruz location. She said yes. She must've been new because there is no Jo-Ann fabrics in Santa Cruz. Needless to say, it was a miss communication. I work in Gilroy and today I made the drive to Morgan hill to hopefully get a refund for the gift card. Went in to the store the cashier must also be new, because after I told her the situation she informed me that she didn't know how to do a refund. She called the manager over. The manager didn't even look at me and instead of helping me he went straight to helping another customer in line and just said without even looking at me we don't refund gift cards. I then explained how I have the receipt and how I had ask in the Salinas store if my aunt could use it at the Santa Cruz location and he said there's no store in Santa Cruz, go return the gift card where you bought it. I then ask him to please show me where in the return policy in the receipt does it say no refunds on gift cards. At this point he just started to walk away. And I point it out that on the receipt it says for returns check in store return policy, I asked him to please show me the instore return policy. He pointed at the price match sign on the wall. I stated that, that's not a refund policy . He said that's all he had. To look it up on line and continue to walk away. I then asked for the district managers phone number and he stated that they don't give out that number. I was not trying to be difficult and I stated this. I said it was a miss information in behalf of the cashier in Salinas. But this manager Joe (is what the cashier called him) was so rude and disrespectful and the tone and his demeanor in which he spoke to me was uncalled for. Not once did he try to be helpful or even apologize for the misinformation that was given to me. Nothing he was rude. I have never been treated so poorly in any store and yet alone by the store manager. He should not be running a store if he is not giving good service. Things have gone so far downhill in this store I now buy fabric online. The staff for the most part is extremely rude. The millennial young ladies are the worst. They seem to be unable to answer a simple question if you can manage to interrupt their gossiping with the other clerks. They will leave you standing there like a post while they natter on about whatever and when you do ask them something you get heavy sighs and eye rolls. That's for the ones that can actually look you in the face. I have had entire transactions at the register where the clerk couldn't even greet me or look at me. I patiently waited to ask for a price check, the older lady with the died reddish pink hair tells me to go use the price checker instead of picking up the scanner and quickly solving my inquiry, there by giving me quick and excellent service. Ah, awesome! Didn't know they had a scanner! I go to the scanner and no joke, it doesn't scan, the barcode was hard to reach and it wasn't even trying to read my item. My favorite craft store : ) Great selection of fabrics, of course, and basic/convenient craft supplies. Recently added a Wilton cake decorating section! Staff is very knowlegable and friendly. I shop here as much as possible rather than driving to Michaels in Gilroy because: 1) they take multiple coupons in a transaction! -- 2) you can grab a coupon flyer as you walk in the door -- and you usually get another coupon with your purchase. 3) they accept competitor coupons from Beverly's and Michaels. 4) sign up for their mailing list online and snail-mail. They have coupons good for up to a month. 5) print even more coupons from JoAnn's website. And 6) if you're a teacher or part of an organization you can sign up for a VIP card good for 10-15% off the rest! read more

The most horrible experience EVER! When I initially made the order on the weekend, I was charged the total amount of my order ($274.39), today is Monday and I received an email that one of the items was shipped (Circuit) with an additional charge of $218.49. I immediately contacted customer service and spoke to a rep by the name of Lola who informed me that the first charge is a "hold" that is placed for the items purchased. No where on the website (reviews included) is this process stated. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told he would call me back due to the fact that he was on the other line speaking to another customer. After confirming my call back number with the rep I waited two hours and called them back because no one had returned my call. This time I spoke to Giovanna who said that the supervisor was STILL on the phone with another customer! So, what am I-chopped liver?!?!?! She informed me that the hold is standard for all online orders and is released, and get this because this is the best part, TEN DAYS LATER after the order! With that being said, I asked for corporates phone number and will be placing my experience as a review for every single item purchased and on every JoAnn Fabric store I can pull up on Google search and Yelp! This is NOT okay and consumers must be forewarned. Needles to say I will not be purchasing from JoAnn's again and will forward my experience to my fellow crafting friends/family. read more

I have shopped on various occasions at different locations throughout California and Maryland. Usually, my experience does not involve a lot of interactions with employees save the few times I have needed to have fabric cut. What I liked about my experience shopping here is that the store was not overcrowded, it was well stocked, well kept, and the small interaction I had with employees during the purchasing process was positive. In San Jose the stores are often over crowded with shoppers who are too much of a hurry and I personally do not enjoy shopping in that kind of environment. I like the toned down feel of the Morgan Hill store. The downside of Joann's is the prices. They are quite expensive even with coupons and there are better deals to be had if one shops around, especially online. But sometimes, with matching thread and button colors to fabrics for instance, going to a brick and mortar store is really useful. So I have found that if I use the coupons and plan my purchases carefully for the odds and ends items I can get a really good deal at this store in addition to the fact that I can get a teacher's discount too (one of the perks of being a homeschool mom). So I recommend shopping at this store but with using coupons and having shopped around online first to make sure you really are getting the best deal. I do not necessarily recommend buying fabrics from here or even patterns. In general I prefer to buy fabrics for clothing from Gehman's Country Store in Lebanon, PA via internet or from Graceful Thread's Fabric selection online because they are not only cheaper but carry the tropical breeze, mook, and country rose lines of fabrics that most places do not carry. I mostly buy fabrics for clothing and quilting. I also do not buy patterns from here either. I prefer the pattern's from Gehman's Country Fabrics, Common Sense Patterns, Candle on a Hill, King's Daughters, Sense and Sensibility, Friends Patterns, and custom made patterns from the annaBaptist Bookstore (the owner's wife Ruby and daughter Dora are fabulous seamstresses and will draw out a custom pattern for your measurements). We dress very conservatively so it is difficult to find patterns in a place like JoAnn's that fit our needs but the prices for patterns in JoAnn's is high AND the patterns are those brown tissue paper kind so they are not very durable. I prefer the patterns printed on sturdy paper that can be easily traced over and used for many years. Even if you DO like the patterns they sell at Joann's most of the time they can be found cheaper online even with the shipping. I know because on occasion I have bought some of those patterns and I was able to get at least four or five for the price of one in Joann's. I wanted to share my thoughts about fabric and patterns because many times I have seen ladies buying patterns at full price and over-priced fabric and not seeming to think twice about it. I figure that maybe some people really don't care about how they are spending their money BUT perhaps there are some who do but do not know about or maybe didn't realize or consider some of the other options available. It's always good to be a wise consumer whether you have money to burn or not. read more
