For children there are books and stuffed animals. Books for adults, too! Many focused on wildlife, gardening, hiking and nature. Plus sweatshirts, t-shirts, jackets, hats, fashion jewelry, stunning colorful glass ornaments and some really pretty textured throw blankets. Also a few blankets in PNW patterns. In the back corner there is an area dedicated to food and pantry items from Oregon called the Farmers Market. Jams, chocolate, hazelnuts, honey and other items stock the shelves. Soon they will be selling local beer, wine and cider. The store is laid out nicely with lots of room to browse. Customer service was great! The woman working there was very enthusiastic about their products telling me about the history, the foundation and future plans. No surprise, I ended up buying a pair of earrings! I swear I could open my own jewelry store! Will definitely visit again while making my rounds in Oak Street.

One woman was working; I'm not sure if she was the owner. She was mid-way through an ice cream order for the customers ahead of us, so we shopped while we waited our turn. We had items in our hands when she finished with the other customers, flipped the lights off with us still standing inside, and walked out the door to take down the open sign. When she came back in -- us standing there in the dark -- she announced she was closing. We said, "Okay, I guess no ice cream? We'll put our stuff back." Not a word. No "sorry." No "I can still ring you up or get you anything." No acknowledgment at all. She just stood there and watched us set everything down and walk out, kids and all. She made it clear we weren't worth the effort, and did it in the rudest way available to her. Two disappointed teenagers, a wasted drive, and the low point of what had been a great day in the area. Can't tell you a thing about the ice cream. What I can tell you is how this place treats people who show up before closing time. Don't bother.

Or a flea market, just inside a tiny store. For me it was a bit too random, made me dizzy to walk around and on this particular day, I just didn't have the patience. But for those who love browsing flea markets to find some random item that reminds them of their childhood or a fond memory, this is your place! Located inside next to Bettie's Place, a popular breakfast and lunch spot. The owner is friendly, has lots of suppliers that scour and source items. One never knows what will be added to the collection. I always wonder if anyone actually buys anything or enough things to keep a business like this, well, in business. I did notice a sign posted above the cash register stating the owner is seeking a new store to rent and will only be in this location a few more months (I was there July, 2021.)

Currently they have lots of holiday items such as nostalgic bottle brush Christmas trees, glass ornaments and Knick knacks. The store is delicious, like a well decorated cake! Everything thoughtfully curated and displayed. There are so many small items that one really needs to navigate slowly, even take a second loop around so that you don't miss anything. Succulents have been all the rage the last few years and they have a bakers rack filled with them in small pots of different shapes and colors. A gift that anyone would enjoy receiving or to decorate your own home. They were a bit on the expensive side but at the same time, the pots were cute. My Christmas colors are silver and white and I have many silver reindeer on display. Amongst the stickers, I found a pack of glittery reindeer stickers for $10 that I just had to have! They will adorn table place setting or Homemade Christmas cards, and fit right in with my theme. Will stop here again next time I'm in Hood River, for sure.

They also allow you to freely browse without pressure, which I really appreciate. Make sure to make a few laps around the store so you don't miss anything! I go in one direction, then reverse direction the second time; it's amazing how your eyes focus on different items when you approach from a different angle. Found a beautiful Mrs. Claus for $4.99 and she is now adorning my tree and is so beautiful! Also picked up a box of a dozen large rd glass ornaments and an Angel.
