Banana Bread Loaf
Lisa M.

I stopped in here for the first time the other day, despite walking right past every morning. I wanted something quick to eat and I saw the banana bread in a basket on top of the display case. I asked where they get it from, and employee behind the counter said they make it! Omg it's the BEST banana bread ever. Super dense and gooey. It has best texture, it's not dry at all and it's not falling apart or crumbling out of your hand. It's truly delicious. 10/10 for the banana bread. I am looking forward to stopping in again and trying the coffee and something else. The employees were friendly and the service was quick.

Visited this cafe before work and decided to get a hot chocolate. I got a small but there is a small and large option. The staff was very welcoming and nice. She was smiling the whole time which was great to see early in the morning. The hot chocolate tasted fresh, chocolatey, and of course HOT. Perfect for the cold weather. I love that the place is small. Seems homey and the Christmas decor is so festive and nice. Will try something else next time!

Joboken cup after an average subway ride. It's delicious but it leaks all over me.

I'm a regular! I work in Manhattan and stop here nearly every morning on my way in. The location makes for a seamless stop on the way into the city. My usual order is a hot coffee with a bit of almond milk and sometimes their GF, V banana bread. Pastries are tasty, staff is friendly and gets orders out fast, coffee is, in my opinion, delicious and the best option in the area. Only reason I gave four out of five stars is the to-go cups. Without fail, the coffee leaks all over me. Somehow, the lid just deposits coffee all over my hands and jacket. I've never had this problem before. It's bad enough that it sometimes deters me from stopping there, even though I love the coffee.

I very few requirements for a good coffee place. Joboken hits all of them: great brews, fast service, and friendly staff. Im sure it gets crazy packed on the weekday but I fought 0 line on a Saturday and enjoying the heck out of the cold brew. Their prices are also on par for any coffee place in NYC for sure. I will be sure to come back as, insider tip, I rent cars out of Hoboken and will need a caffeine fix to accompany my drives.

The location is really convenient and it's the perfect place to pick up coffee in the morning before going to work. It is small, but really cute with outdoor seating. I ordered a small ginger-lemon tea and a chocolate croissant totaling to about $7, which is fair. I originally wanted the tea to be hot, but unfortunately the ginger lemon only comes in cold. The chocolate croissant was not toasted and honestly tasted average. I wish there were more food options, but for the small space, it can't be helped I guess. Adding something warm to the menu would be appreciated, especially with the cold weather coming up. This place is not AMAZING, but it's a cute and convenient cafe to grab a quick bite and drink before your commute.

Andrea, the barista is simply amazing! Actually, the whole staff is super friendly! Every morning I look forward to grab my "Joboken" coffee and get on with my day! The spot is so convenient and the pastry is fresh as well! I feel like grabbing coffee from Joboken is a routine now and talk to Andrea who is always in a great mood and makes customers feel like she is your friend! Love love!

Unfortunately received stale pastries. I would try their hot drink but definitely not for the baked goods.

Terrible macchiato. It was so citrusy / acidic it made me shiver. I had to throw it away. Cool decor, I guess.

They've kept this place in good condition. Lots of seating and menus everywhere. It once was an Art Deco bank, you can kind of get the feel of that just from looking around. If you look at the mural behind the cash out point it gives you a little touch of history what once happened within these walls. I ordered the salmon toast. It was a little hard but I like the cream cheese was thinly spread not just thrown in like many places. The salmon was good and the mint tasted fresh. The capers were like slightly toasted and crispy, i've never had them like that before and I loved it. I think the toast was just missing a little drizzle of olive oil on top. To be honest, I think the capers were my favorite part. They were just this unique texture. I've never experienced before. I also got an iced lavender chai latte to go. It was so light and delightful, with the perfect blend of lavender. I really enjoyed this place and would totally come back again.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.

I ordered doordash so didn't experience the place itself, but I tried the new salmon niçoise salad…read moreand I really enjoyed it. It was a very decent amount of fish and a very hearty bowl because of the other toppings. The anchovy dressing was great to top it off.

After trying Cookies 'n Panna for the first time, I was craving it for days afterward. I also love Red Flag. It's unique, unexpected, and one of their sweeter options. Of their rotating flavors, I've had Smooth Strawberry and Mango. They're good, but not flavors I would personally repeat. The strawberry isn't as strawberry forward as I was hoping and the mango was decent, but didn't stand out. The biggest challenge is the line. Even at 3 p.m. on a random weekday, the wait can be 30 to 40 minutes. They sell out of flavors as the day goes on, and close relatively early for a dessert spot at 9:30 p.m. If there is something specific you want to try, go earlier. They post the menu daily on Instagram, although I have shown up on a few occasions and found the in-store menu differed from what was posted. If you want to skip the line entirely, and don't mind buying a bit more ice cream, you can order pints online ahead of time.

When you enter there is a bar you can sit at and two large high top tables next to it. As you walk further in there is a lounge with couches and various sizes tables. The whole space is surrounded by books! Heaven! We ordered a chai, matcha and a ginger cookie. Shout out to the woman taking my order for comping me my drink for my birthday! Everyone from the staff was friendly - I really enjoyed being there. The only thing I would say is someone should come by to check on the tables more often as I had to return other people's abandoned drinks. But you know what first world problems, am I right? Maybe they can have a sign or mention to customers to return their own cups before leaving. I sort of can't imagine why people don't... It is quite popular spot so you need to be very patient and strategic if you want to grab a table, as well as sprinkled with a little bit of luck. We unfortunately got there a little late. I went there at 3pm and hunted for a table and my friend got there by 330pm. By the time we ordered and started drinking our coffees - we were informed the lounge area will be closed at 4pm to prepare for the evening wine bar. Oh right this cafe turns into a wine bar in the evenings! How cool! At 4pm we thankfully grabbed one of the high tables - sharing it with another couple but it was large enough for the 4 of us. The lights dimmed and the atmosphere changed to more intimate. We unfortunately had to leave at 5pm, but I imagined picking up a James Baldwin book, ordering some white wine and enjoying both.... Mmm definitely next time. Maybe sometimes after work - sounds like a great wind down.
