Few years ago she changed all my caps to porcelain which looked better but they all got infected, i did not know much about dentistry but dentist said there was a leak meanly the crown not fitted well. This dentist said my teeth couldnt be scratched by her tools and then followed up with a scrape on one tooth and left it rough. After i complained to her about it she asked me to come in saying she would fix it and now the front row is permanently rough and the one tooth she scratched is the only tooth that accumulates plaque no matter how much i brush. Another dentist in went to mentioned some dentists slightly damage teeth intentionally so people have to keep coming in for cleanings and i suspect this is one of those places. The damage i got from this dentist is irreversible and its extremely annoying to always feel roughness in your teeth. read more

Absolutely garbage dental work. I have permanent damage to my teeth because they insisted on polishing my teeth even though i said no and purposely scratched my teeth stating they were scratch resistant and i shouldnt worry. This happened in 2019 its now 2022 and ever since then ive been having issues with my teeth. Almost every day. Before you come to this place remember you only have one set of adult teeth would you risk that one set for a dentist that has already messed up someone elses teeth. read more

My favorite dentist, thus far! I was referred from my co-worker to switch over to Jocelyn. She raved about how gentle and caring she was, and she was absolutely correct. She's appointment only because she doesn't like to rush. She wants to spend time with each of her patients and ensure they're taken care of. I've had cleanings and cavities done by her. She was able to take out plaque (without charge) when other dentists were quoting me HUNDREDS. She has great recommendations and most importantly, she wants to make sure you're not in pain. I had some discomfort for one of my cavities and she was able to squeeze me in to fix my problem. She's a wonderful professional that I'll refer to the many co-workers I have! There's an ample amount of parking in the lot shes located, the staff are kind and her work space is very clean. read more

UPDATE: After sending me a private message offering me an Amazon gift card to take down my review, this Dentist allowed her receptionist to doxx me by using my full name in a reply. For the record I called multiple times besides 217 and 218, and the insurance company also called at least once. Perhaps spend the time investing into your business rather than trying to intimidate me After several hours calling for an emergency situation and being confronted with a voicemail saying they were going to be closing for Christmas (this was in August) I decided to walk in bc it was such an emergency. The office was filthy, and the desk clerk was so rude, really off putting from the moment I walked in telling me I should have left a message on the voicemail that clearly hadn't been updated since December. He then accused me of stealing his pen as if that was his biggest concern while my mouth was filling up with blood. Just terribly rude and seemed to thrive on his sense of superiority. For the record I didn't steal his pen but I did go through the trouble to do an emergency dentist switch because of his rude attitude and I was able to find a dentist to see me w no attitude for my dental emergency. As I left I told him exactly what I thought of him. I told him he was an a$$hole. He then proceeded to leave the dentist office and chase after me in the parking lot threatening to fight me and calling me a faggot. read more

After a month of trying to make an appointment ncluding voicemails with id # and phone # to call back 4 times . I finally called their emergency line. I spoke with an incredibly rude office manager witch responded to me "If I would like for him to kiss my feet or my ass". All just because i wanted an appointment for me and my family at the same time. This was unreasonable to him and the staff. My family and I have been going to Dr. Capistrano's dental clinic for more than 5 years now and I now live in Monterey Park, but I would still prefer to go to L.A. to have my teeth cleaned etc. by Dr. Capistrano. One thing I really liked about Dr. Capistrano is that her hands are very light.. I have experiences with other dentists but their hands are heavy and you can really feel the pain even just a simple cleaning. Secondly, their staffs.. they're very accommodating and friendly. If you have a dental emergency they would try to squeeze you in their schedules to accommodate you. I would highly recommend that anyone who are afraid of dentists to try Dr. Capistrano and company... trust me.. it'll take away your phobia in going to see a dentist. Kudos to you guys! read more

If I could give her 0 stars I would. They completely screwed me. Told me I had 4 cavities and two "to watch." Got two of them filled. I got weird vibes from this place and got referred to another dentist who told me I have ZERO cavities and that the "fillings" that she did were "an embarrassment to the profession." I am now getting my fillings re-done and staying with this new and wonderful dentist. I wouldn't send my dog to this woman. What a hack. Yay! I did it! I went!!!! I am not a fan of the dentist office, and have put it off for... well let's say long over due!!! I was referred to the office by a family member... then read the Yelp reviews which were very promising... and I would say very accurate (the positive reviews). I felt bad as I missed my first appointment, and called all flustered.. they were very nice about it and let me reschedule for the next week when they had an opening. Made my rescheduled appointment, and was greeted nicely as I walked in, given my new patient paperwork right way, and taken as soon as I was done. The hygienist started right away with my X-rays and was so gentle and kind getting them all right. Then Dr. Capistrano came in to begin my cleaning and assessment. They both asked how long since my last cleaning and I was embarrassed to tell them probably 2 years (this is where it always goes bad) but they were very kind, and didn't berate me or make me feel bad, they said well let's take a look! They worked very in sync with the cleaning process together, and couldn't have been more gentle or calming. They let me know when it might feel more sensitive and kept assuring me all looked pretty good. Of course I had quite a bit of plaque build up in certain areas because of the gap between cleanings but again, just took care of it thoroughly and made me feel very comfortable. And then it was over! Honestly one of the nicest dentist visits ever! They said everything looked good, and this should tide me over for another 6 months! Hooray! No waiting, no lecturing, and so sweet! I pre-booked my next appt for March, and am so glad I have found an office I feel suits my needs! For X-rays and a cleaning with the dentist and hygenist it was $125 since I didn't have insurance, which I think was very fair. Highly recommend! read more

Dr. Capistrano helped me get what I thought was a cosmetic issue fixed using my insurance. I had a tooth that was starting to turn very yellow from a childhood trauma that had damaged the root and was causing internal problems. I had dentists in the past say there was nothing that could be done to fix the internal yellowing of the tooth. Dr. Capistrano immediately referred me to a specialist the 1st time we met for a front tooth root canal with optional whitening to fix my issue. I paid for the optional internal bleaching but my insurance covered the rest. I think the whole procedure only cost me $500 out of pocket and my tooth is no longer yellow at all! That tooth had been making me feel very insecure to smile for YEARS!! I am very grateful for Dr. Capistrano's help diagnosing a solution to my problem. read more

If you are afraid of the dentist, or were traumatized when you were a kid, Dr. Capistrano will change all that for you. I couldn't believe when I had my first cleaning with her. I was cringing waiting for the discomfort and pain. Next thing I knew, I was done, and I felt nothing. This was over ten years ago, and I 've been with her since. She has the most amazing gentil hands and she really cares about your dental health, and takes great pride in her work. She is wonderful at what she does, and her staff is the best. My wife's review: I've been going to this Dental office since 2004 and have been here several times a year. Dr. Capistrano is very personable and accommodating. She's always there to fix any of my issues and is always readily available to help my needs. Her clinic is clean and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I needed a new nighttime mouth guard. Dr. Capistrano's assistant set up to take the impression of my teeth, and when she put the piece of metal in my mouth to get the impression, she set it down at an angle, hitting against one of my teeth. Instead of adjusting the metal piece, she pushed down hard, which resulted in it sliding off my tooth into position, and slicing out a chunk of my mouth on its way down. I bled a lot and had a good sized hole in my mouth for about 6 weeks. At this point, it's healed and I have a small scar left. Something good is that Dr. Capistrano caught that one of my fillings had worn down and she worked to replace it. However, her 1st replacement filling cracked, the second fell out, and her third and final attempt lasted about 6 months before cracking again and I went to another dentist to have this one replaced. At this point, due to the repeated work done to replace the filling, my root was now close to the exposed part of my tooth and I ended up needing a root canal to fix this, costing me thousands of dollars. read more

She has done everything from cleaning to crowns and bridgework for me, all with excellent results! She is very personable, listens wells, and does only the work that I want, without pushing anything else on me. I had a first time appointment here. I received no notice of confirmation. I had to call the morning of the appointment and got little help & plenty of attitude from the incredibly inefficient and rude receptionist. Memo to receptionist: Bad combination. Rude and incompetent. If you're going to be rude, at least be halfway good at your job. Anyway we showed up for our 3pm appt. and it was closed. We had an appointment. They were meant to be open. They were not. This dentist is presumably an absentminded hack, and that's the charitable view of it. I think it was a blessing in disguise, her total dereliction of duty. I've been going to Dr. Capistrano since I started graduate school in 2013. I think my graduate school recommended her as the first option and I understand why. Being on a low budget and not having the greatest insurance, Dr. Capistrano AMAZED me with her work. I got cleanings here and cavities filled and I am always so grateful for the quality of the work and the care that she puts into each visit. I can barely tell that I got fillings. Everything looks so natural. Dr. Capistrano is very thorough in inspecting what needs to be done and she really listens to my concerns no matter how much of a baby I can be regarding numbing. I have a slight phobia of dentists, but Dr. Capistrano always goes above and beyond to put me at ease. Her staff is really friendly as well; a really genuine group of people, which is not that common considering my past experiences of dentists doing as much as they can do extract money. Last time I visited, Dr. Capistrano did the filling that was scheduled and she even did a partial filling in a tooth that, even I knew, needed her attention and it was for NO CHARGE.
