Karat quickly adjusted my wife's band when we realized it was a bit small and then, two years later, when I had a mishap with a local jeweler who completely polished my band, Karat restored the ring to its (perfect) original condition absolutely free of charge. That's not what these guys do and if you want cookie cutter jewelry, this probably isn't the place for you. If you want something special with a bit of personality, Guy's your man. For people unfamiliar with the 4 C's (color, cut, clarity, carat) and for the guys, the 5th and most important C (cost). Guy takes care of all C's. All diamond virgins have to attend Guy's Diamond 101 class. This is where he sits you in one of his offices, teaches all the C's, and the leaves you to inspect and learn through practice. There are a lot of skanky jewelers out there, this will at least help you see through their scams. When the search for your perfect gemstone begins, you get to tap into Guy's expertise and his network of dealers to find the right stone with the right price. I had a great time working with all Guy and his personable staff. He helped me design a custom engagement ring based on my pictures and sketches and made sure everything met my exact specifications. The end result? I got the perfect ring made from scratch without having to pull my hair out during the process. You can entrust your big purchase to chains or snooty stores that have no interest other than lightening your wallet, why would you? Let me start by saying we are in a pandemic, so why would you, as a business owner, tell me within 5 minutes of meeting me that you are so excited you just got back from your Caribbean vacation where NO ONE WAS WEARING MASKS? Why does that seem like it's an appropriate thing to come out of your mouth whatsoever? And laughing as if we are just making normal conversation. Another thing, why would you assume I live in the neighboring town when you are guessing my address to put in your computer--when we are smack dab in the middle of Hinsdale--a little bit of snobbery I sense there? Oh well. This lady (CJ--the wife/owner) seems to have zero filter and just kind of holds you hostage talking about whatever stream of conscious garbage comes out of her mouth. Again, another flag I should have minded, but unfortunately didn't. Anyway, long, long story short. The communication style of the store owners is terrible, they have no sense of ownership for possibly making a mistake on their end, and they seem like they could care less about return business. Thankfully there's like a zillion other jewelry stores in the area to go to in the future. Stay away from this one if you value your time, energy, sanity and money.

BUYERS BEWARE!!! We were sold a ring that was advertised and invoiced as 14K gold with diamond…read moreaccents. We were actually sold a gold plated ring with cubic zirconia! We would not have even known until our daughter's finger changed color. We had the ring appraised and inspected by another jeweler and appraiser. We took the ring back to the owners of Caffray, who claimed it was mismarked and that they had no idea! Yet they admitted to using gold plated material to size the ring, when I showed them the different metal color. Dave said of course he uses gold plate on a gold plate ring. I showed him my receipt where he personally typed 14K gold with diamond accents and charged me the price of 14k gold with diamond accents!! I'm sure when they bought the merchandise for resale purposes, they inspected it thoroughly and knew what they had! This is fraudulent! I would not trust this business! They also are going out of business and advertising big "going out of business sales" now! It makes me really wonder why now!
