If you're looking for true Texas comfort food done right, Joe Allen's absolutely delivers. From the moment the plates hit the table, you know you're in for something special. Our waitress Hannah was just the sweetest. She recommended the sweet potato fries and they were perfect. The brisket was tender, smoky, and full of flavor with that perfect bark, and the ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious. The smoked turkey was juicy and surprisingly rich, and the sausage had just the right snap. Add in classic sides like buttery corn, perfectly seasoned green beans, and crispy fries, and it's a full-on feast. Don't skip the homemade bread and BBQ sauce--they tie everything together and elevate every bite. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the portions are generous, making it the kind of place you leave full and happy. Joe Allen's is the kind of spot you'll crave long after the meal is over. We'll definitely be back!

    Lunch special steak

It has been a LONG time since I've eaten at Joe Allen's. I remembered their sign with lunch specials and thought I'd give it a try. The hamburger basket was tempting but then I saw the lunch steak as a special also. The steak was perfectly cooked, very tender, and very tasty. My waitress was an extremely nice young lady, 7-Sierra. Altogether a great lunch. Like Arnold Swartinager "I'll be back!"

It was ok, the corn bread were dry as hell, onion rings were over fried also thick breading and a very thin slice of onion. The brisket meat was good tho.

Pricing is good for the amount of food and the quality of it all. They make the cornbread and sourdough bread, we bought a loaf of sourdough. Texas Bbq place ambience is cool. The portions will make you happy. We had chopped brisket, jalapeño sausage (not too spicy), ribs, sweet potato fries, and home fries, all was very good. Daily specials. Lots to explore. We will be back! Eat here!

Casual, diner feel. Food was good, but a bit pricey. I couldv'e eaten the beans and cornbread and that would have been filling!

Good food, service kinda sucked. The last time we went they were out of most of the meats on their menu.

Great food. Good service. Rustic, but well worth the effort to get away from the chain restaurants off of the interstate.

Expectations were high, food came out very slowly, 25 minutes for catfish, 10-15 minutes for each round of catfish.

OMG next time I go I am ordering this with double queso and double brisket! It was so delicious there as not one bite of anything left on the plate that we shared as an appetizer was perfect for 2 people but you would want the whole platter to yourself if having for dinner and to be really honest I wished I wouldn't have had to share! By far the Queso is the best I have had since I moved to Abilene, finally the search is over and the Mexican food places in Abilene need to take some lessons from them on how to make Chile con queso! AMAZING! The brisket on top with the tomatoes cilantro sour cream and jalapeños was the Bomb! I would totally have a chopped brisket sandwich here if they had some gluten free buns to put it on! And on top of everything else the service was on point, friendly attentive and just very accommodating' I hope she is there next time we go which will be very soon! Oh and best part we had a beer 2 all you can eat catfish plates and the loaded brisket nachos and a big iced tea, all that under 45 bucks pretty awesome for date night! We ordered two 2 meat plates with sides. Order 1: rib and brisket with green beans and macaroni salad with jalapeño corn bread. Order 2: brisket and grilled chicken with pinto beans and potato salad. Unfortunately, the food was not to our likening. The green beans taste like they were from a can and macaroni salad didn't taste fresh, it tasted like refrigerator. Potato salad was whipped and pinto beans had an odd taste, couldn't make it out. Rob had too much black pepper and the other meats really didn't have a good smoke flavor. No comment on the BBQ sauce. With two drinks, we paid about $50.00 If you enjoy meats that don't have a Smokey flavor, this may be to your place. As we like to say, give it a try for yourselves since we all have different tastes buds.

Absolutely some of the best BBQ I've had in ages - and I'm a bbq snob from Kansas City!…read more We had the sampler (brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and one each of the mild and spicy sausages). I fully expected that one or two of the meats would be good and the rest just passable. I was wrong. Every single bite was spectacular. We also had the brisket and queso chips and pig candy - both were really tasty; the chips especially were very fresh and sprinkled with just a touch of bbq rub. We arrived a few minutes before they opened on a warm Saturday and the wait was about 75 minutes or so. Definitely worth standing in line for. There's ample outdoor (but covered) seating and plenty of good music playing, plus cornhole games if you're feeling competitive. Jays will be our go-to for BBQ the next time we're in Abilene! PS - if it's still available when you go, be sure to try the cherry chipotle sauce - it's amazing!

They do have restrooms so that's nice. The line gets long and they are slow in taking orders and getting the food out. We arrived around 11:15 on a Friday and the line was already long so we decided we would order to go as we need to get to Lubbock before 3:00pm. We ordered the Texas Trinity to go. This place has charm and lots of stuff to look at while waiting in the long slow line. You can go up and order beer to drink in line but my thought is that the beer is over price. Some places have free beer or free water while you wait outside in the Texas heat, not here. So the food we got made it all the way back to eat in Houston on Sunday when we got back. The true test of good BBQ is how it taste when you reheat it, all the food was good but the brisket was a bit dry 8/10, the sausage was nice 9/10 and the pork rib was good 9/10. Perini Ranch Steakhouse is outstanding!…read more The 16-ounce ribeye was excellent. The beef quality was superb--thick-cut, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned without overpowering its natural flavor. While the edges were cooked slightly beyond medium due to the uneven cut, that's a very minor critique. The grilled asparagus was delicious, and the green chile hominy was absolutely amazing. Overall, I would give Perini Ranch Steakhouse a 98 out of 100. The food, atmosphere, and quality were exceptional, making it one of the best of the steakhouses I've experienced.

The outdoor seating consisted of old wooden tables and benches that were uncomfortable, and the heat alone made it difficult to enjoy the meal. To make matters worse, we spent the entire dinner fighting flies. The steaks were around $50 each, and honestly, they were underwhelming. They lacked seasoning and flavor, especially for the price point. I've had better-seasoned steaks at Texas Roadhouse and Outback for roughly half the cost. The sides were equally disappointing: bland, uninspired, and forgettable. The bread pudding was decent and was probably the best part of the meal. Overall, the combination of uncomfortable outdoor seating, excessive heat, flies, and mediocre food made for a frustrating experience. I had heard so many great things about Perini Ranch Steakhouse and expected something special, but it simply didn't live up to the reputation.
