This review is long overdue for work we had done in October. We needed a contractor to turn a large…read morebedroom into 2 smaller bedrooms for our kids. We needed framing, sheetrock, electrical, trim and closets built. Joe was way more responsive than all other contractors and was very reasonable with costs. The price was exactly what he quoted us. (Another contractor was supposed to start before we found Joe and completely ghosted us around the start date.) Lou was the main guy who was here several days and he was great. We felt totally comfortable with him in our home. Our 4 year old son kept asking where Lou was after the project was completed. Lou worked around us when it came to hours that worked best for our family. Our kids love their bedrooms. And our 4 year old son finally sleeps in his own bed. We will be calling Joe when we are ready to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms.

DISASTER. Turn and run. We hired Joe for a large 203K project. We had problems from the very…read morebeginning: he was slow to start, kept changing his mind about the game plan, complained about the fact that he could get no money up front--terms of the 203K that he had of course agreed to--and pressured us to give him significant up-front money to "help him start". He instructed me in June of 2024 to rush to buy materials for a small bathroom that was still mostly unfinished in April of 2025; that kind of thing happened multiple times. His workers were inadequately supervised, and he was difficult to reach, often saying things like I'm at a kid's soccer game, out to dinner with my daughter, etc. The way that 203K's work is that HUD inspectors come out at regular intervals to make sure that adequate work has been done to make a draw from the total budget. Joe did a bunch of stuff merely to look busy to justify the first draw, in August: a slap-dash exterior paint job over crumbling paint that made a mess and did not hold, for instance. Between the first and the second draw, there was slow but meaningful progress--but by then we were 5 months into a job that we were told would take 4-6 months, and nowhere near done. During much of that 3-month interval he had just one guy working on our huge project, an electrician. After the second draw, in late November, he basically just stopped working on the house. We were making double housing payments the whole time, of course, so we panicked. We were almost out of money. After numerous calls and messages failed to get him to pick up the pace, at the urging of our lender, we scheduled a third draw, 3 months after the second one. At that draw, the HUD inspector certified that no work had been done, so no funds would be paid out. That's when we finally worked up the nerve to fire him. It was terrifying, because our lender told us that we would have trouble getting anyone to take on such a large project with only what was left in the budget after Joe depleted it. By the grace of God, we did find one. He swept in and got the job done in about 4 months. We finally moved in almost exactly one year after closing. Of course we had two mortgage payments the whole time. The work could have been finished within 6 months, or close to it, if we had found a great contractor like the one we found after we fired Mr. Depiano. Working with Mr. Depiano was harrowing. We were newbs at this, and therefore easy to fool. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.

In over 35 years of home ownership, i have never worked with a better contractor. Kyle is amazingly…read morethorough and completely dedicated to the project. He has an incredible work ethic and really takes pride in the job he does. He's very respectful of the property and does his best to minimize property owner inconveniene. When facing unanticipated challenges, he works out solutions rather than go to a change order. He finished our bathroom (gut rehab in a 100 year old house) on budget with everything square, level, and plumb. Great skills, patience in providing explanations, and just overall an amazing guy. Absolutely would hire him again. Just a terrific experience.

We hired KMC Construction (Kyle) for our bathroom remodeling project after speaking with several…read moreother contractors. KMC's quote was reasonable, but what set them apart from the very beginning was Kyle's superb attention to details. His project description was unparallel...from how he would cover the floor, to the specific brand/type of grout he would use, to the exact type of fittings he'd install behind the shower...talking about being meticulous. Others would just give a two-liner description and a ridiculously higher quote. I have hired many contractors for different types of projects for the house, but I NEVER came across someone who is a caring person like Kyle. Get this, he noticed a flat tire on my wife's SUV. I was going to call AAA, but before I could blink he drove out of the driveway, went to the local automotive store, bought a flat tire repair kit and fixed the flat tire! What contractor would do that? As for his craftsmanship, Kyle is a true example of a perfectionist. I am not exaggerating, each step of the project from demolition of a 4" thick concrete wet bed, to framing the walls and the niches, to tiling/grouting, to painting the wall/ceiling/trims...he did everything painstakingly. He was very helpful, understanding, cooperating and again CARING person whom anybody should hire without a hesitation. He truly goes far and beyond. He not only works around your budget, but also throws in freebies (and they are not cheap freebies, they are more involved work, like moving the floor plumbing system for the vanity to behind the wall, or installing additional stuff like the vanity lights, medicine cabinets, etc. etc.) to make your bathroom completely transformed into something that you could ever imagine of. He worked straight through weekends, stayed late hours, and made absolutely 100% sure that everything was done correctly, and beautifully right from the beginning. Bottomline is this: if you want just a contractor to do your job there are plenty of them in the market. But if you want a truly caring craftsman to do the job and treat your home as his own, Kyle at KMC Construction is DEFINITELY your guy. He does not rush, or cut corners to get the job done quicker...that's not Kyle's style. For example, one of the features of our brand new Moen shower head was not functioning, for which Moen sent us a new replacement. Kyle offered to drive all the way (over 30 miles) to our house just to install it for us. I never heard of any contractors offering this kind of a service. Will we hire Kyle for future projects? You bet we will. And I would even go out and offer my email address (ghosh.asim@gmail.com, put "Kyle/KMC" in the subject line) if you need further information or references. Trust me, you won't go wrong hiring Kyle. In fact, you might get hooked to his fine craftsmanship and honest pricing that you would end up having him do other projects in your house.

You can read glowing and hostile reviews on this company. That said, I felt it was only fair to…read morethe company and the employee's to post a review so there is more for you to consider. I am pleased with my purchase. I got what I ordered in a timely manner. The product was not damaged upon arrival. Assembly went fine, but on that note the instructions were not consistent with the parts (ex. baluster attachments and instructions were not similar...they have improved the design, but not updated the instructions). My spiral stair has been in use and is showing no signs of rust nor is it getting loose. I would return to them in the future if I needed another, and I would recommend them to a friend (that I wanted to keep as a friend). Jim

The oil-rubbed bronze staircase came covered in silver hardware, the handrail arrives as a coil that has to be bent into shape on site and ours is visibly wavy, our professional installers had to sand the factory finish off parts just to make them fit, and the top cap literally lifts right off. The finished staircase feels flimsy, creaky and cheap -- absolutely not what I expected from an $11,000+ product. The customer service somehow managed to be worse. When we respectfully raised these issues, they dismissed everything as "personal aesthetic preferences" and refused any accommodation. Then the owner, Allen Cohen, personally emailed me to say my criticism was "insulting," suggested that "maybe next time" I buy from one of their competitors, and ended with "You'll do what you want from here." When I told him I was stunned by how unprofessional his response was, he replied with two words: "Thank you." For a company selling expensive products, the combination of mediocre quality and an owner who responds to legitimate customer criticism with this level of arrogance is remarkable. Allen suggested I use a competitor next time. I strongly suggest prospective customers take his advice
