Must be a big to-go place but we dinned in, it's not fancy at all I'm pretty sure our table was next to their printer but I have 3 boys and we loved every bit of it. Food was fantastic, my wife had French toast, this was made with texas toast. Very large portion and delicious. My son had grilled cheese with bacon and fries. Well melted and meaty. My daughter had a breakfast sandwich on a bagel. So large she could bearly finish it. I had 2 eggs over easy with spinach home fries and shrimp.i must say I think my meal was the best. The spinach and shrimp were cooked perfectly, my eggs were a little runny just the way I love them and my home fries were with onions and peppers cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and made you feel right at home. The place is not a white table cloth restaurant but that wasn't what we we're looking for. So good for breakfast. We've only had their food delivered, but every time we order, it is a lot of food, freshly made and delicious. The home fries are thick and freshly cut, full of flavor and I haven't had a bad scrambled egg order yet. Whenever I see a place that basically has five-star reviews, I have to try it. Like so many small places, they don't get enough press or exposure, and Joe Mama's definitely deserves both. I had a smothered breakfast burrito with a cinnamon roll, and my wife had a waffle. Everything was wonderful. The service was great, and we got to sit outside with Milton, our toy poodle. She has a warm personality which makes you feel good along with the meal. I got Joes eggs n meat which came with eggs, I got a piece of fried fish, home fries, & a biscuit. When I say it hit the stop that's exactly what I mean! The eggs were exactly how I wanted them, the home fries were well seasoned & crispy. The real star of the meal was the fish though. Just from the picture I knew it was about to be something serious. It was crispy & moist on the inside, & seasoned well. I took a menu with me because I will definitely be back for a fish sandwich. I've been here about 4 times and each I got something different and had a little bit of a different experience. The first time I was taken back by how homey it is when you first walk in it truly feels like you've entered someone's kitchen which is a good thing if that's what they are going for. I ordered the joe boy the first time with a side of fish which was excellent. Both the sandwich and fish were flavorful and cooked well! My next two times I got dessert which was always better than the dish so I look forward to the different cakes they have to offer. The creamsicle was good but should just be named orange cake because it missed that dreamy creamy factor but was a delicious piece of orange citrus yummyness and that's just fine with me too. My last visit yesterday morning is what made me drop two stars off. I've been trough sanitation schooling so I know a lot of the different things that should be happening and a lot of things weren't. In an open kitchen it's a must that things like gloves and hairnets are worn for obvious reasons. Money was handled then cake was handled without any gloves or hand washing involved. That was one star and the other came from the disappointment of the joes got beef sandwich. It sounded so good but it only had one sausage and it was split so it only covered half the sandwich. I'd prefer it to be sliced the long way and spread out to cover the entire sandwich. This is a pet peve of mine. All in all the food is quite delicious and the fish, although prices at $4 a piece (yikes), is to die for. UPDATE: Just had the "Richie Rich" sandwich and it has redeemed a star! Phenomenal sandwich must add to the normal menus because it's truly delectable. read more

The food was delicious (obviously made from scratch), the portions were very generous and the two ladies running it are just the cherry on top. I got the big Joes Breakfast. The big joes breakfast included eggs, a meat, home fries or grits and pancakes or French toast. I got scrambled eggs, fried fish, cheesy grits and Strawberry Nutella French toast. I believe it was 8.99 for the meal ,with a 1 dollar up charge for getting fried fish. The fish was really good and it was nice to have the option of getting home fries or grits. I got cheesy grits of course to go with the fish. My son loved the strawberry Nutella pancakes and boyfriend who got scrapple, eggs and home fries said the home fries were some of the best he's had. Stopped in today for a late lunch with the hubby. We walked in the door and was immediately greeted by the owner and server, who immediately invited us to sit where we liked. It's definitely a different atmosphere, it's one of those places where you feel like you're basically in your friend's kitchen. You know how to go to some establishments and you feel like you're a bother to staff? Not here, not even a little bit. There were smiles from the moment we walked in until the second we left. Including when our server came running to our car because hubby left his wallet. Thank you again!!! I had the cheeseburger (with bacon...duh) and hubby had the fried fish platter. It was southern style, cornmeal breaded and fried. He really like it. The mac and cheese side he selected was excellent, as was the potato salad. Whenever I am in Harrisburg I try to stop by this lovely Mom & Daughter run restaurant. The food is genuine home cooked from scratch kind of cooking that you just rarely find anymore. What a great change to the Olympic bar! The menu is very inexpensive and you never leave hungry. The fried fish is what they are known for! Also, they have a 2.99 breakfast special that does with eggs, homefries or grits, and a biscuit. You can't beat it! Food on the floor, stuff stacked everywhere and it just needed a fresh coat of paint. I'm ok with dives, but clean dives and this wasn't one of those. My fish was very good, a large piece of white fish. And surprisingly the grits was very tasty,( it's been my experience that not everyone knows how to make grits). The eggs were bleh...
