Side salad that came with entrée (2.27.2026)
    Jenni M.

Joe's Italian Restaurant is located across from the Hobbs High School on Sanger Street. My daughters and I enjoyed a nice dinner before attending a middle school musical on February 27, 2026. Parking in the unmarked lots on either side of the building was available. I hope they improve this someday with an even ground and painted lines. With as packed as it was, I was surprised our wait was only about 15 minutes. The host was friendly and attentive, asking if we liked our seat. A basket of soft table bread reminiscent of rolls with olive oil was served sooner after we received our drinks (2 sweet iced teas, $5.98 and a Mug root beer, $2.99). They do not serve wine or other alcoholic beverages. My youngest and I had dinner salads served in bowls. The salad, while simple, was freshly served with mostly green lettuce, a grape tomato, and single ring of red onion. I appreciated their serving mine plain and bringing olive oil for me as dressing. I dashed a bit of grated Parmesan cheese and a touch of salt on top of the drizzled oil. They also brought red wine vinegar. My oldest enjoy a small supreme pizza ($16.99). For a small, it was considerable size. She brought most of it home. My youngest chose manicotti ($13.99). She must have enjoyed it because she did not share. I had really high hopes for my piccata entree, but my (gluten free) penne pasta per request was way overcooked. I prefer my pasta al dente, but much of it was mushy. But the sauce was really good. I had this dish with shrimp ($20.98). I gave two of my shrimp to my youngest and I had three. Service by Kelvin was great! Just a minor hiccup in forgetting our takeout boxes. He remembered our Italian cream cake ($7.99) which was divine and made in-house. It's markedly loud inside. This restaurant took the place of longtime meat market resident, Kendall's - in which case I saw an old sign in the corner that said "Welcome to Kendall's" on it. There are a few things they could do to take the ambiance and overall Italian vibe to the next level. Overall, I do recommend this place. I look forward to trying more dishes. I am so glad Hobbs is drastically improving in wait service and higher level dining with the addition of Joe's. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4.5 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 3| Price: 4

RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4.5 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 5 | Price: 4 PARKING Free plaza lot parking. LOCATION/AMBIANCE This medium-sized brick and mortar pizza place is located at the Navajo East Plaza on Navajo Drive. Inside it was a simple, clean design. The menu on the wall to the right cannot be missed nor can the large wood fire oven. High-top tables for two and a few tables for parties of maybe 6-8 in a group were available. THE GRUB Their pizzas come in two sizes: 8" (4 slices) 12" (8 slices) I opted for the 8" "New Mexican" ($11) which was their green chili chicken. It was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it; however, it was the perfect size for my ever-slowing metabolism. There was a bit of black residue on my fingers from the bottom of the thin crust that made contact with the wood fire oven, but I liked that smoky flavor and didn't mind that minor inconvenience. It wiped off easy with a paper towel. They have a pizza called "Boujee Lady" - LOL. Might have to try that one next time as it is pepperoni with "burrata cheese and finished with hot honey drizzle." Also, they offer an Italian Chopped Salad. It looked amazingly fresh. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB No kid's menu available. SERVICE Welcoming and quick to take my order on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. I barely had time to go through my to-do list and answer a few emails before my pizza was ready. MY FAVORITE PART... The New Mexican! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... It's not that recognizable from outside. Kind of plain Jane signage. I didn't even know this place existed even though I walked by a week beforehand. TIPS + Closed on Sundays. + They have an upcoming "Slasher Sale" October 14-19, 2024 - "Buy one get one 50% off"... Check their social media for those special hours: Instagram @woodfirepizzanm or https://www.facebook.com/WoodFirePizza + Order online for pickup or delivery at: https://www.woodfirepizzanm.com/ + Mobile pizza trailer also available to cater events!

I ordered the pizza with the truffle drizzle....no flavor of truffle at all...it was just oily on top. My mom had the pepperoni pizza, which ended up being even saltier. The salad we shared was premade in one of those clear boxes..nothing special about the salad... for 9.00, it was a sad disappointing salad. I wish the pizza had been better...

Their orange, white and black food trailer is easily recognizable, "Serving SENM & West, TX since 2016." The first time I tried them was at my nephew's birthday party. While the owners were extremely nice and generous & even gave us a quick tour of their snazzy trailer, their pizzas are good. Not great. Yet another case of "I wanted to love it, but..." Lol. My friend who made the orders, was ecstatic about the "Da Vinci" which entails "spinach, artichokes, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese & garlic olive oil." It was alright. I prefered "the 505" which combines "sausage, Hatch green chiles, mozzarella cheese and red sauce." It was more savory and delicious than even the plain cheese, pepperoni, and the slice of "3 Little Pigs" (pepperoni, Canadian bacon, sausage, mozzarella cheese & red sauce) that I tried. These are very thin pizzas. The edges were much too burned for me most of the time. This is very typical of wood-fired pizzas in my opinion. Even the culinary hub of the Greater Los Angeles area where I lived for 10 years. Also, their dough itself was not very flavorful or enjoyable to eat, so I dug into my brother and sister-in-law's kitchen to create my own dipping sauce. Maybe they've created some since I tried them last summer, but I haven't heard about it. Because the owners were so generous and kept the pizzas coming for our hungry crowd - plus I wasn't the one paying the tab and didn't have a say in "more 505s please" - I can't go lower than 4 stars even if they aren't my favorite pizzas. First off, as an almost life-long Hobbs resident, I have clout in expressing this viewpoint. I personally didn't feel unsafe on this side of town on December 5, 2024, but many folks presumably won't go here because they might be scared. Especially at night. Go here for takeout only. There was barely any standing room. No dining area. Godfather Pizza is the godfather of all the pizza mob catch phrases... "Enjoy the pie, wise guy." "A pizza you can't refuse." "Join da family." "We don't skimp on cheese." The pizza crust was surprisingly delicious. At the Stripe's register, I ordered the following: + Large limited time Burger pizza ($20.99) + Mini jalapeño cheese sticks ($5.49) + Small pepperoni pizza (4 mini slices $5.99) Both young employees were extremely friendly & honest - the Godfather employee said the secret sauce looked disgusting when he opened it up and wouldn't recommend it. He created a burger pizza that was probably even better without that sauce. Those employees & the cheesiest burger pizza I ever devoured bumped up my review to 4 stars. TIPS - Digital ordering is not available at this location. - Loyalty club is also unavailable. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 2 | Price: 4
