    David special - stuffed sopapillas
    Tasha R.

Came in late after driving in from out of town and was able to get a table quickly and was served complimentary chips and salsa. I devoured the salsa myself, and they were kind enough to bring more when I ordered my meal. I knock off a star because the food isn't like typical Mexican or New Mexican taste. As a native New Mexican, I was excited to see staffed sopapillas on the menu and had to try it. I had the David's special with both skinny meats, the beef and chicken. Neither one of them was spicy, but they both had good flavor with the peppers and onion more like a fajita flavor. I had it with beans and "papas" come to my surprise the papa's was mashed potatoes. This was very odd to me, but I didn't hate it. It had a good flavor but a bit unexpected and weird to have with my meal. Overall, the food was good but not typical Mex or New Mex more of a TexMex fusion, in my opinion. I would come again to try other menu items and given the good service and prices. I also had enough leftover for the next day to have breakfast, which is always a plus and nice to enjoy for another meal.

Yum! Well coming from the north east I don't spend a lot of time in Tex-Mex restaurants because there's not a lot of them! Hotel recommended Chuy's but I always try to do local Found Joe Taco of course on yelp so gave it a try. Loved my food. Had Daces Speciall (recommended by Matty the bartender) two sopapillas topped with your spicy meat & cheese, covered with green chile & queso sauce, served with rice & beans, topped with pico de gallo

This will be a fond memory for years to come! This was the first pet friendly restaurant our boy Klaus visited. What a perfect first! They were so friendly and all the workers came out to meet him! The outdoor patio was fun on such a beautiful evening, even if it was a little windy! The food was also excellent. Everything tasted fresh and was priced right! Thank you for a truly special memory!

We loved the food here. The Queso cheese dip was fantastic! My taco enchilada plate had fresh veggies roasted instead of beans & rice. It was so good & a great price. The service was top notch. Quesadillas were huge & tasty.

Stuffed Avocado is the best I've ever had! The salsa is good and maybe someday they will bring back the green tomatillo salsa

But here again it's great for those that don't want to socialize I suppose. The order out was super busy (door dash, Uber eats orders) the employees were hustlin. Once order was placed, I filled my cup with unsweet tea and it was soured. For the sake of pure awareness, I let the lady know about the finding and she further tasted it but didn't find it unpleasant. Mind you, I have ran a restaurant on my own and have worked in the restaurant industry since high school.... I know what bad tea tastes like. I make a new drink choice and move on, not the end of the world with 15 other drink choices available!! Once my food arrived and I'm half way through eating, she proceeds to come to the table in a very offensive manner asking "Well would you like me to make you new tea? What do you want me to do?" At this point, I was shocked at how she approached me and did not have much response other than "It's alright, I got something else to drink, thank you." So I finished the meal, go to top off with lemonade before leaving, and the manager/owner hurries over and says "No, No! That is not lemonade, just the concentrate!" In my mind I think to myself "umm, sorry Sir, I didn't know that. I thought that the "Hours of Operation 8am-10pm" on the door meant that this place was fully functioning and in service within the hours that you have posted. The entire time I was in this restaurant, the workers were refilling and setting up for the day..... the place was not to par within their "Hours of Operation." Will never return!!!!!

The staff was friendly but did not provide the best service throughout our meal. We shared the combo beef and chicken fajitas for one. The chicken was cooked perfectly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We also ordered the Tacos de Birria (goat) with consommé, and they were delicious! The meat was incredibly flavorful, and they came with a small cup of sauce that added even more flavor just be prepared because it packs some serious heat! My girlfriend's mom was especially excited to take me to El Tejaven while I was visiting. This dinner was a celebration of my girlfriend's sister playing in the top All-Region orchestra. It has nothing to do with the food itself, but I want to mention it because she did a great job performing and I think it deserves to be remembered here. It is the reason we went in the first place. It was a busy night at El Tejaven before we arrived. A group of 32 was just wrapping up dinner. Thirty two people. At that point, just cater, dawg. It took about 20 minutes after arrival to get seated, but it likely would have been much quicker if it were not for a group that size. Once we were seated, we were served chips and salsa. The salsa was spicier than I was prepared for, but it was good. The chips were excellent as well. Most people at the table ordered margaritas on the rocks, while I got a dressed Dos Equis on draft. From what I tasted, the margaritas were solid. For appetizers, we ordered the small queso and the small ceviche. The queso was standard but good. The ceviche, on the other hand, was exceptional. I could have eaten a large bowl by myself. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered the Orden de Tacos, which comes with four tacos on corn tortillas. I got all of them with al pastor. I also added a side of rice and beans, which normally comes with the three taco order but can be added on for the four tacos. The tacos were very good and exactly what you want from street style al pastor, especially with the cilantro and onions. It comes out to roughly four dollars per taco if you do the math. The rice and beans were both great and I ate all of it easily. The plate also came with a side of guacamole that had a nice kick, which I enjoyed. Living in Austin with family in San Antonio, it is easy to find good and authentic Mexican food. That does not always seem to be the case in Amarillo, so it is nice to know there is at least one spot in the city that feels authentic and not overly gringoified. My girlfriend's family knows ball.
