The red sauce on the enchilada was fantastic, mildly spicy don't have that in Oklahoma. Taco meat was flavorful and full of meat, charro beans is good as well. Very light chips that near melt in your mouth. Our personal favs are the stuffed avocado with fajita chicken smothered in queso & their crispy quesadillas. When pulled into our hotel in Amarillo, never having been here before, we checked in and, feeling hungry, decided to rustle up some grub. We found Joe's Taco and decided it sounded good. We also then realized they closed in 11 minutes, so we called, figured out they were just 2 blocks away and, with the young hostess helping us as we walked, placed our order for the stuffed avicado. Turns out they stop taking orders at 9, but leave the outdoor patio open. We arrived with 4 minutes to spare, added a couple Hopadillo beers to our order and proceeded to devour the TOTALLY FRIGGIN DELICIOSO stuffed avocados with really awesome beans and rice. The staff were the best part of the meal, and the meal was off the hook! They brought our food to us, checked in on us, and made us feel totally at home. My first indication things weren't going to be good. I walk with a cane and upon entering the restaurant the rubber tip of my cane started "slipping" across the floor with each step I took. After "gingerly" traversing to our table and being seated we ordered drinks and guacamole. Drinks arrived quickly, but the guac came after the two of us finished more than 1/2 basket of chips! No one was staring at us, so I assume we were eating them at a leisurely pace. We placed our lunch order and waited over 40 minutes to receive them. My wife ordered the Tortilla soup (her favorite thing to order at a Mexican restaurant), after 40 minutes it was delivered. It had become lukewarm, In addition to the temperature, it had little flavor and tasted rather similar to "water"! I ordered a beef taco and a chile rellano. The chile rellano was buried under, at least, 3 lbs. of cheese and was hard to find without "digging" through the layers of cheese. The taco was placed on top of the "steaming" rice and had softened to the point it was beginning to fall apart. The beef? was without much flavor and that made the item edible by only two bites. We were recommended to try this place by a local and I ordered the Barrio Burrito with marinated beef and red sauce. It was so delicious and huge! It had tons of flavor and I enjoyed every bite, plus a ton leftover, and that was even awesome the next day. The chips and salsa were very good and the waiter brought each person their own personal dish, which I thought was thoughtful. The others in my group really enjoyed their tacos and plates as well. When I walked in it was just a little dive bar and I ordered a couple of hamburgers and when I got them and took a bite of them I was blown away they were so damn good. I do not like to complain about service... but I also do not like driving 15 miles in traffic to pick up the food I was very excited about only to get home and find it was NOT what I ordered. We look forward to going out about once every two weeks and we haven't had Mexican food in over a month so we were very excited about it, this was a big let down! After reviewing Joe S. pic's and review, my hubby and I decided to have dinner at Joe Taco. Excellent choice!!! We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and seated mediately. Our server Darian was friendly and very informative. We were served complementary chips, which were lightly dusted with a their secret house spice blend. The red salsa was ok and the green cilantro lime salsa was different - not my favorite. My hubby ordered the Barrio brisket burrito with Hatch green chili sauce, served with refried beans and Mexican rice. The burrito was loaded with brisket and mixed cheese, smothered with hatch green chili sauce - very tasty. I ordered the combo plate - shredded beef chili Relleno, crispy tacos with shredded beef, refried beans and opted out for the rice, which I got anyway. For my sauce I ordered hatch green chili and their tomato ranchero sauce, both sauces were delicious, just the right amount of heat. My taco was loaded with tender, tasty shredded beef, topped with lettuce, tomato and cheese. The crispy taco shell very good, right next to being fried, (I love fried tacos) although it was not fried, I really enjoyed it. My chili Relleno was a large Anaheim green chili, stuff with shredded beef, lightly battered and fried golden brown. I poured the Hatch green chili sauce on half the Relleno and the tomato Ranchero on the other half. WOW, absolutely delicious!!! The rice was overwhelmed with Cumin, not to my liking. The refried beans would've been good if they left the cumin out. We didn't care for the beans and rice, however that Burrito, Chili Relleno and Taco were absolutely delicious. These were unique tacos- I got the bbq chicken and brisket, but they accidentally added bbq sauce to the brisket taco. Bbq sauce is not something I've ever had on a taco, but it was good. It reminded me of a bbq chicken pizza. It was reasonably priced for the amount of food, the salsa was tasty, but I didn't care for the house made chips- mine were somewhat stale and I didn't care for the rice. I would return for the tacos. The service was also quick and polite- they had us seated and out of there in 30 minutes and that was convenient. read more

This is one restaurant which has very fast service. It is a little difficult to find parking, though we were told that street parking is allowed. Even before you order, you'll be greeted with chips, salsa and a guacamole sauce. The chips also had some spice sprinkled on it which made it a little different than others. We ordered the fish taco and stuffed avocado. Our server told us that stuffed avocado can be considered a small portion but that was definitely not the case. Both the dishes were good. Our waitress, Hailey (I apologize if I am spelling her name incorrectly, I forgot to look at the receipt before we left) was friendly and not intrusive. It was a Saturday night and quite busy, but we still received our food within ten minutes of ordering. My boyfriend and I shared the Taco Tour (includes six tacos of varying meats and six different salsas), and our four year old ate the cheese quesadilla. Tue next time we travel through Amarillo at lunch or dinnertime, we'll likely be back! The four star rating is because of the noise. By the time we were finished eating, there were only three other tables of people around us, but the bar and the patio were really loud and we could hear it. Stopped in while we were traveling to Tennessee and we weren't disappointed! The service was great and it allows dogs on the patio which was awesome for us since we're traveling with my dog! I really liked Joe Taco. It was recommended to me to get the stuffed Avocado. This turned out be the right choice. It's a whole fresh Avocado which you can top with your choice of meat and sauce. Besides that, the restaurant appears to be very popular with the locals. People hanging out at the bar drinking a bear and talking. We came at a quiet time. I ordered truck tacos: brisket, pork and chicken. All three were good. The rice was not oily at all and the beans were perfect.
