I've always had one dentist I trusted with my teeth since I was little, but unfortunately, he retired, and I had to find a new one. Luckily, my parents found Dr. Santos and highly recommended him. Even though my parents since moved to Roseville, they love him so much that they still make the 2-hour drive for their check-ups! Dr. Santos is fantastic--so kind, and the conversation is always easy and light during the cleaning (which definitely makes the experience better!). He's gentle and incredibly thorough; my teeth always feel amazing after each visit. I believe he only has one employee, Ian, but Ian is always friendly and welcoming. Went in to get a check up today. Since I haven't seen a dentist in about 11yrs. Ya. I said it.11yrs. Did the X-rays and did had my teeth cleaned by Dr. Santos. The guy is awesome. BTW. I'm happy to report I had no cavities. The fillings weren't chipped and didn't need any work. Brush and floss boys and girls and someday you too will keep your teeth. Thanks again Dr. Santos. Dr Santos is hands down the best dentist I've ever had. I was a past drug user, so my grill is in need of a bit of TLC, but Dr Santos never makes me feel gross or shamed. His skill work is so seamless too. I never feel any pain, which has always been a problem with past dentists, as my jaw nerve is abnormally deep. Needed a new dentist when our old one stopped taking our insurance. Searched through the list of dentists taking our insurance and checked all the reviews. Thought I'd give Dr. Santos a try, and I'm so glad I did. It's a 2-person office and, Ian, is both receptionist and dental assistant. He actually helps with the patients, so he's not always at the front desk to answer the phone. Don't give up. Just leave a message. Both Dr. Santos and Ian are super friendly and make you feel welcome. My husband and I both felt Dr. Santos did a good job with the cleaning, and my husband will be making an appointment for a filling and a crown. My husband has a slight problem with dementia, so Dr. Santos reviewed what he'd told my husband. When I still had a question I called Ian, and he was able to explain the whole procedure in detail. This is not a review of Joel Santos as I never got to see him but his staff and office policies. First it's almost impossible to get a hold of his office staff by phone. First few times I left a voicemail trying to set up an appointment I never got a call back. Eventually I realized I just had to keep calling until someone picked up. I have HMO plan where Dr. Santos was listed as my provider. Unfortunately my name for some reason did not make it on to the roster of patients even though I had valid coverage starting the first of the month. So I called my insurance and they offered to fax or call his office to let them know I was covered. They had the same issue and could not reach the office by phone. I spent a marathon 2 hours calling back every few minutes until someone finally picked up to let me know they would not take proof of insurance by fax or phone. If my name was not on the roster they would not see me period. They advised me to wait till the start of the next month and check back to see if my name was on the next roster. What's the point of having an insurance plan if you're dentist won't see you for an entire month? I was fortunate enough to be able to switch my provider and find another dentist willing to take me where the front office called me back right away and scheduled a tentative appointment while they waited for confirmation from insurance. Joel Santos might be the best dentist in the area but good luck getting a chance to see him given how shoddy his office staff and policies are. read more

My first dentist appointment went very well with Dr. Santos!! He was referred too by my coworker who really loves him. He took the time to explain things and told me what I needed as far as work to be done. I can tell he is very caring and he made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Santos is amazing! Super nice assistant and is quick. Plus he actually makes you feel well and isn't like other dentist or dental offices were they just try to make huge holes in your pocket. (Depends on what insurance you have though) I've had crap Dentist in the past and hated them all. They weren't really friendly and didn't make you feel at ease. Some would X-ray my teeth and say that I have cavities or something wrong and just wanted my money. I never felt any pain, So when I went to see Dr. Santos, I got X-rays and he said I didn't have a damn thing wrong with my teeth. Those 'New' generation Dental offices are just after money and lie to you. I'm so glad I found Dr. Santos and that he is my dentist. He's not rude or anything like other Dentist. He's super nice and intelligent. Only downside is that he's super booked so you have to schedule your appts. in advance. Other than that it's great. Overall Dr. Santos is truly awesome and always makes you laugh. Plus he explains things to you before and after your dental appointment. Definitely recommend him! read more

I heard about Dr. Santos because I used to see his dad when I was younger. He is a great dentist. I took my 3 year old son there and he was explaining everything he was going to do to me and also to my son. He showed my son all of the dentist tools he was using and let him not necessarily play with it but showed him the suction and how it felt on his hands so my son wouldn't be scared. My boyfriend also had an appointment with him for a cleaning and said he was very through. (My bf is quite picky with dentist). I went in today for a cleaning and exam. I must say that is the best cleaning ive ever had. My teeth feel super clean and feel great. Im going in for another procedure later but the price for it is by far cheaper than other places I have gone to. I recommend dr. santos as a dentist. read more

To start this dentist shares an office with another Doctor. We cant get an appointment right away, they never pick up the phone. I went in to get my regular exam and because one of my molars was hurting. He cleaned my teeth and set up my appointment one week later for my fillings. I returned and he didn't fill the tooth that was hurting he filled another tooth, when i came back to let him know he said that he didn't see that cavity, which I think it was awkward because it was huge.
