I can't speak for anyone else's experience but for me, I have to give this place 5 stars. Brought my 2007 Acura Rdx here out of desperation. I had previously taken it to 2 mechanics and was told nothings wrong with the car. "There's no check engine light and car feels fine." Except it wasn't fine. My husband would drive the car and it would randomly turn off on him which hello! That's not right! Anyway, there goes $180 for nothing. So, I found this place online and decided to take it in. Mauricio jumped in and started looking at what could be the problem. After a few hours of testing, he figured it out!!!! The alternator and battery were done. He explained everything and even showed us the old alternator. Car has been running fine with no issues since replacing the parts! Super grateful that he took the time to investigate and fix the problem. Will be coming back! read more

I feel terrible leaving this review but would hate for someone in the neighborhood to experience what I experienced with Mauricio. I was referred to Mauricio by a relative about a year ago. I took my truck in to get the belts aligned because I couldn't get them to stop squeaking. After he aligned the belts, I had an incident in the road where my water pump pulley cracked, so I took it back and he assured me it would be a quick and easy fix. It took about 6 MONTHS, including a month of hassling him-showing up at his shop, phone calls, false promises (gave me his word multiple times it would be finished), excuses, and flat out lies to my face before I towed the truck out of his shop and back home. I should've trusted my gut and taken it out sooner, but I was way too swamped with work and trusted he would fix this "minor" issue. I treated him with great respect since he was referred by my uncle, and I even offered to pay him more for labor but I ended up getting screwed in the end. To make matters worse, he left trash in the truck bed, cab open, and my hood open creating more rust and debris for me to clean. I even saw rodent prints on my seat from when he left the window or door open (see pictures). I'm just very disappointed and feel terrible leaving this review but I don't want others to experience this type of treatment. read more

Mauricio is the man! My wife's car had a tire pressure, check engine and maintenance lights all turn on. Mauricio Fixed up the car super fast. He topped off the fluids. Changed the oil. Added tire pressure. Like in an hr. All the warning lights are turned off and everyone's happy. I live in the area so of course I want to stay local. Joe's auto service is a little spot that you would easily overlook driving by but the service here is fantastic and the quotes are very honest. I've gone to several automotive shops in the area and Joe's auto repair is the best in terms of quality of service, speed of service and honesty. By honesty I mean they will explain to you why you would or wouldn't get a service and whether it's really worth doing. Prices are fair too. I wish I found this mechanic sooner. Excellent service! Joe was amazing,went in because i needed to change my front brakes. Joe took my car for a ride to make sure because he saw that the brake pads still had padding and he was confused in why i need to change the brakes. After the ride around the block and of course my car was perfect, he decide to take the tire off to double check the pad on the inside, and sure enough they need to be change. I dropped off my car at about 3:30 p.m. on a Monday and by 5:30 my car was finished. all reasonable prices for honesty service. read more

Worst Mechinac ever had my pickup truck over 1 year he always had a excuse why my truck was not ready I would call and no one would answer the phone and when they did answer the phone they had a excuse he was on vacation or it was a family emergency I don't think I should have to drive all the way to his shop to ask a simple question like is my truck is ready!!!!! Great service and prices! A bit slow, if you're in a rush. They repaired my car when I needed a replacement engine. They offered me a quote $500 lower than any other shop! Every time I go there they offer me a ride home if I need to leave the car overnight. Once, there was a delay in fixing my car because a long-time client of theirs who is elderly and no longer drives, called them and asked for a ride to her doctor appointment. They were operating one man short because they decided to take the lady to the doctor! So sweet. They really care about their clients and the community. Would definitely recommend, though if you are truuuuly in a time-crunch this shop might not be the right fit. read more

Horrible experience, had my truck for 8 months in and out of this shop and could not even figure out what was wrong with it. Had me pay up front and never did anything to my truck. Mauricio is my go to guy in Highland Park. Took my car to him because it had a service engine light. He was talking to one of his employees when I got there. He was holding some black box with a long wire on it. I told him about my light. He said since he was already holding the scanner, the box, he would check it right then. After connecting the box to my car, he got out after a couple minutes and went and turned my gas cap till it clicked. Told me he cleared the code and that I needed to make sure I turned the cap till it clicks after gassing up or I would get the light again. I have gas up twice since then, making sure cap is turned all the way and no more light! I know many people could have taken advantage of my ignorance but he did not. So, this guy is like the homie........ But I never knew him till I took my car for brake replacement. I took my car to a JUST TIRES shop and they wanted me to buy new rotors, and for some of you who knows about rotors, that shit is not cheap! I kept thinking about this place and, heck, why not..... I spoke to Mauricio and gave him this crazy ass story about what had happened. I took my scion to him after getting off the phone with him, he looked at it, gave me a break down of what he could do for a fraction of a price compared to what the other shop wanted, and I consented. Not only did I saved a lot of money, but I'm amazed at how Mauricio was honest about what he could do for many others and not about the money. Would I bring my car to him again? yes. I must give thanks to Mauricio for his quick service and hard work he did on my 2015 Buick Encore. I haad my check engine light on my breaks were shot out and my water pump and my oil change. Mauricio was very understanding that I needed car done that afternoon he was very respectful and understanding. The car was done an hour before his estimated time. Deserves a 0, but I must give it a 1. Took him a whole month to fix my issue. My issue wasn't extreme, like a transmission rebuild, or anything like that. My issue was related to the timing belt. The time doesn't bother me, had he kept good communication with me and updated me from time to time what was wrong, then I would have understood, and at least kept in the loop. But nothing of that was given. He wouldn't call to update me on the car, he just kept feeding me lies about how it would be ready soon. He kept telling me that he would have it ready the next day, and I would return the next day to find it is not ready. This happened just about every other day. All in all, I had a terrible experience with this shop. In the end, my car did get fixed, but it took far too long. Don't come here, and if you do, don't expect your car for a few months. read more

Horrendous service. has not worked on our vehicle for months to complete other vehicles that require less labor and time. He lies and promises to have the car ready and delivered by a certain date and when the date comes he gives multiple reasons and excuses why he has not completed the task (ie; employees leaving). Going on over 4 months waiting for our vehicle to be fixed, missed many opportunities to sell the vehicle and am about to file a small claim against the auto repair shop sadly due to our circumstance. I'd advise to take vehicles here only if the task at hand or problem is fixable in a day or two. read more

Such a BAD experience here first i got my breaks done about 6 months ago there after my break system was repaired it has not been the same i've taken it back but still was un able to repiar. So today i installed new tires on my car at a local tire shop in Hlp. the attendent notice that the locks that are on the rim did not match the key that removes the lug-nut that there was very emberassing, and the last person(s) that removed my tires was Joe's auto serviceso i had to drive to joes on a almost flat tire and after bringing this issue to Mauricio (the head guy) denied any wrong/mistake doing. So that cost me an extra $20 to relace new lug nuts. so what i think what happen here was either when they installed the lock on the tire the could have mix the key with somone elses lock or it could have been one of the attendents considering we didnt have a good relationship due to me making an issue about his work that was done on my car. i feel bad because Mauricio is great guy and his workers are giving his buisness a bad name. I recently asked a few locals around the area regarding Joe's auto service. and all were bad everyone had the same issues. not good service. i think he needs to get a new crew or something. one advise to all "IT PAYS TO PAY JUST A FEW $$ EXTRA" If you want professional work done on your car. Update:The owner called me to apologize to me and asked me to recant my prior review.He wanted to make it up to me by fixing my car again at cost. Now if I had my car in his shop for 7 months and he couldn't fix it ,why would I bring it back? In addition, I noticed he had cracked my speedometer glass and put a scrape on the side of my van. He knows he did this and didn't acknowledge it. Not only does this shop not care about your business unless it's a fast buck, they will make any and every excuse possible like" The owners on vacation", "the owners is testing a car"," call me in an hour," " I will call you back at 12pm", "you will have your car today", "the part hasn't come in yet", etc, etc, etc. Please Yelpers it is important to detail your accounts of your experiences to help others. He told me he considers me a "friend". But in all my experiences how many friends that lie to you and make excuses remain your friend? In 7 months my car was in the shop I wonder how many other cars he fixed for a quick buck and left my car to rot. Long story short, my friend referred me to a "shade tree" mechanic working out of his house. He fixed my van in 1 day.Yes 1 day. It wasn't the so called "mystery module" or rewiring the "harness". It wan't any of the things Joe's Auto did. It was a simple fix. Although the price to fix was reasonable from the new mechanic, he had to charge me extra to redo what Joe's Auto had taken apart and left jumbled. The actual issue was an ignition switch ($50) and a relay ($20) . I'm not saying it is the smartest thing to do but I got better service from a guy working out of his house than at Joes Auto Service. read more

RUN! RUN! as far away from this place now that you have the chance to. You will leave with something else that they messed-up or damaged. took my car for the control arms to be replaced and bushings on stabilizer bar got my car and two days later now the stabalizer links broke because it was put on wrong and they denied that it was their fault so I ended up having to pay for that then I had my locks removed from my rims and when I realized what they did they damaged all four of my rims with chisel marks. I had them replace the trans axel boot and now its leaking transmission fluid. A Nightmare...................................... read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Mauricio spoke to me like he knew what he was doing so I trusted him. I needed a replacement engine and he gave the lowest quote I had been given so I agreed. I didn't really contact him for almost 2 weeks because I understood the engine would take longer than most other issues. After the third week,every time I called I would either get no answer or he would say "hey call back in an hour" EVERYTIME! Every hour I called. No update on the status and he never explained what was wrong. He would tell us he couldn't fix the engine so he had to order a new one, so he told us call back in4 days and it would be ready. We called back and he said something else was wrong and to call back tomorrow. One day he dropped the key in the engine and asked just " can I go now?". It had already been 5 weeks at this point. We went to the store after trying to call him 50 times one day,(either no answer or "call back in 20 minutes") one person said he was on vacation and another said he had an emergency, on the same day! When we kept demanding to speak to him he said that we were becoming ridiculous and he just wanted to be done with the car. So he told us not to call but to just show up for the car on 5 days from the call. Since he lied to us before, we called him that day to come get the car and he said call in an hour 4 different times. After 8 weeks (yesterday) we called and said we needed it today and he said he was finishing it up and to call in an hour, instead of calling we just showed up. When we got there our car was covered in dust and the battery and other parts were in our trunk. He said he had just order a part so it would be ready tomorrow, we told we were finished with him and called a tow truck immediately to take to a different mechanic. The mechanic we are using now said that he NEVER TOOK THE ENGINE OUT!!!! The manufacturer seals were still intact and Mauricio hadn't done anything to our car. He told us he replaced the engine THREE TIMES, and he was constantly waiting on parts. But in reality he hadn't done anything. Mauricio only called twice during this whole ordeal and one of the times was to ask when the tow truck would be coming. The mechanic helping us now is located at the north Hollywood Goodyear on laurel canyon and vanowen, they are nice and he has already called and communicated more in the one he has had the car compared to Joes auto. PLEASE DONT GO TO JOES AUTO FOR ANYTHING!!! read more
