I have been coming to this shop ever since I bought my 2014 Honda Civic. He has been our family mechanic for years and left all of our vehicles with issues that were not fixed . Carlos is friendly but I guess it's a distraction for the actual work being done . My Honda came with a lug knot key that he lost. After changing my tires a couple times they didn't use the same lug bolts or place back the lug knot bolts that originally cane with the vehicle . I got a flat tire shortly after and couldn't even place my spare on due to Carlos and his workers loosing the key to the lug knots . You are constantly left in the dark about repairs and consistently told there was no time to work on your vehicle as it was busy . When I pointed out that they lost my lug knot key that came with the vehicle they said they can take the bolts of with with a "master key", yet never offered to return or look for my luggage knot key they lost which also explains the random bolts found on my tires. They charge cheaper but maybe that's to overcompensate the bad communication and poor parts that don't last long . I went to jiffy lube for a oil change and they stated that my oil screw had been stripped from whoever did my last oil change , which made it difficult to do the job. Surprise surprise it was union 3 . I stated this to my mechanic , Carlos at the time, and he said they lied to get money out of me . So I end up doing my oil change with my friends sister who is a mechanic , she said "we need to change this screw due to it being stripped , if you leave it on like that it can ruin your whole oil chamber , which is a issue that goes far beyond an oil change. " so cool cool cool ... the workers have been stripping my oil screw every time I went to get an oil change . Mind you I went to auto zone where the oil screw was a simple 2.49 to fix , yet my own mechanic who's been doing my oil change couldn't do that for me. My brothers car is 2020 Kia Optima and he takes it to get an oil change practically every month almost . We asked why is his car wasting for much oil in such little time . Carlos response "Kia's and hunda are like that" . My brother took his car to the Kia dealership where they stated there was an issue with his oil consumption. There are far much more stories I can say but I think that explains my point . It's sad because my family and I truly did have a relationship with this mechanic and trusted him . Please don't make the same mistake we did and strive for your car to have better service and care with someone who can be transparent with you . read more

I pulled off the freeway for help when I heard a big rattling under my car. Luno was so kind to me and found bolts to replace the oil cover on the bottom of my car that hadn't been replaced earlier in the day. Brought my car here for multiple things, from brake pad replacements, to leaking hoses, engine rebuild and more. They do great work and pretty quick for always being so packed. Recently took my Kia there for a/c not blowing cold air even though freon had been recharged multiple times. Multiple Kia dealers couldn't find the issue. Carlos found the issue and had it fixed in less than 30 min. Life saver for sure considering I have a little one in the back and these summers are getting hotter. read more

Great mechanics and more affordable than most shops. My only complaint is sometimes they get very busy and they get backed up. They are mechanics not a customer service agency. They are always very busy. They will eventually fix your vehicle better and cheaper than anywhere else. It's about as close to knowing a mechanic as you will ever get. My Toyota 4 Runner broke down (alternator) at 5 pm on a Thursday on the 5 south near Dodger Stadium. The Metro tow truck towed me off the freeway to a nearby side street. From there I called my insurance company's roadside service for another tow. My insurance company recommended nearby garages for further assistance. After a couple of dead ends I called Union 3 Auto Shop and Carlos answered the phone. I told him what happened and asked if he could fix it. I thought it was too late to drop off that night (it was now 6 pm) but Carlos said that he would be at the shop until 7 pm. I was able to get get towed by 7 pm and met Carlos. He was very reassuring and I left that evening feeling relieved. He told me he would have my truck ready the next day. Carlos called me the next day at 1115 and said that it was just my alternator that needed to be replaced. I asked him what time should I pick it up later that evening. He laughed and said that he was already done with the job and that I could pick it up now. I was shocked. I hung up without asking how much was the total and hopped on a train to head to his shop. I was expecting to pay a certain amount and when he told me the total I was pleasantly taken aback. It was more than $300 less than what I was prepared to pay. It was nice to have my faith restored against the stereotypes most people have about garages. I found this quote about Carlos' shop and couldn't say it any better so I'm going to include it in my review. "If you need fast reliable service that works with your wallet, and at the same time does not charge a daily fee for your car to be held on the lot, then I think you've found the right place." Carlos is friendly and his crew are professionals that will take care of you and your vehicle. He is also open till at least 7 pm Monday through Saturday so it makes it easier if you need to drop off your car after work. I highly recommend Union 3 Auto Shop and plan on taking my truck back for maintenance. read more

Absolutely horrible 0 stars if I could this man is a liar puts cheap parts on your car so you keep coming back and charges you as much as he can, mind you he has been my uncles friend for ever and my uncle recommended him to me he knew who I was and still did a horrible job on mine and my sisters car mine was the worst after he did my tune up in September 2018 I had to go back 5 times because my hose kept leaking every time he said it was fixed the next day I had to go back and I live in the Valley every day I had to drive down to LA, less than a year after he fixed my car July to be exact the same thing happened again I was told it was under warranty for 1 year now 9 months later he is charging my uncle for work he did on my car in July while it was still "under warranty" stating that what he did was something different, yet when I picked up my car and asked how much I owed him he said nothing, this man is a crook do not I repeat do not give your business to this man go somewhere else because you will regret it. read more

*update* This shop still sucks and you should still avoid it Avoid this store at all cost! You will be left in the dark about your repairs if they ever even get done at all. I went to this shop 8 times for the smallest issue, a squeaking coming from the suspension. 1st visit I was told "there's only one thing that could cause that and we can fix it right away!" So of course I had them work on it. After paying and driving off I realized the issue wasn't fixed and brought it back to them the next day so they could inspect it. Now after the first two visits I came back every single week for months for the same exact issue and most of the visits had the same answer "we tightened everything you're good!" Well obviously that wasn't the issue but that's the answer I got every time. After about 5 visits (each one at least 5 hours) the guy (Pedro) finally says "sorry we've been so busy I couldn't get your car into the shop to get under it and look" well I'm assuming that happened everytime except the first two because I never got any new info when I went it was always "we tightened everything it should be good!" Should. Not a "we test drive it to make sure and it's fixed" just a SHOULD BE GOOD. After 7 maybe 8 visits once again 5 hours each time so an accumulative 35-40 hours at their shop and all that had happened was I paid hundreds for a repair of parts that didn't need to be swapped, during which time they broke a piece of my wheel and had to repair that, spent hours and hundreds of dollars ubering back and forth to get my car and at the end of all of it my car still makes the same sound, I still lost hundreds, and they eventually said "well we can't fix it, but go to this shop in Pasadena they can help!" Umm no I'm sorry you already took my money and time, I'll go somewhere professional that actually fixes the damn problem or at the very least answers my calls or questions when I'm car-less trying to coordinate everyday life ! read more

They messed up in places that they were never suppose to be. They were only suppose to be fixing one part of the car. They took amazing care of my first car ('98 civic) , helped guide me through necessary work and checks up, exploring my new car ('03 accord), and everything inbetween. I am unhappy with my experience. I brought the car in because it was losing acceleration, then dying completely and I would only be able to start with a jump start. Very dangerous since I drive 80 miles round trip to work and back on the freeway. I had it towed in after it died on the freeway one night. Carlos suggested several fixes, including saying he would tighten the timing chain and replace a part that had to do with air flow meters. If I had known more about cars, this would have been my first red flag. He had my car for a week and a half. I got my car back, and paid $260 for what I was led to believe were repairs related to the issue of the car turning itself off and losing acceleration. I drove the car 3 miles home. I tried to drive it to work the very next morning, and it died completely. Would not even turn on. I called the Nissan dealer, and they said it's impossible to tighten a timing chain, which is one of the big things Carlos initially said he did. After talking with Nissan, I called Carlos, and he told me over the phone all he did was a coolant flush. Which was NOT what I was led to believe when he was working on my car. He had my car for a week and a half while I was spending 5-7 hours on the bus to work and back every day in addition to my 8-hour workday. AND ALL HE DID WAS A COOLANT FLUSH. I asked for a refund, and he did the right thing and gave me all of my money back. I am taking the car to a different mechanic. Whether it was intentional or just plain incompetence, I am very unhappy. What a waste of my time. He also had the nerve to ask me if I was sure my car wouldn't turn on! read more

Where to start... Dont be fooled by Carlos nice demeanor. I had my valve cover gaskets done here and was charged 400 bucks, which is on the high side for my car. The gaskets were leaking oil and continued to leak oil after i paid the 400 bucks. I brought my car back multiple times and tried to get him to fix it correctly, which never happened, and eventually i couldn't keep going back on my days off to correct the problem just had to end up getting it done somewhere else. My car was literally smoking from the oil dripping onto my exhaust and the whole time carlos swore up and down it wasnt his work. Well hes a liar and a thief, it was his work the whole time...shocker. Not only that but the guy who actually did them correctly, which is (andys automotive in glendale) also told me he didnt change a bunch of hoses that needed to be replaced and multiple other parts, along with just throwing silicone on the problem to correct the mistake. I wouldnt waste this much time to write this if i didn't want to stop other people from getting ripped off, you'd have to be retarded to use this sleezeball as your mechanic. read more

I had taken my 64 Corvair to Union 3 several times, in the past few years. In the first part of March, 2012, I brought her in to get the clutch checked, the weatherstripping replaced, interior lights fixed, and the reverse light fixed. Well, about a month passed and no call from Carlos. I had to call him and he updated me on the fixes needed. No more follow up calls and I had to call him again, end of April. Finally, on May 24, 2012, I stopped by there and he said it was finished. I told him I could get it that Saturday, 05/26/2012. On that day, I had to call over there three times and each time some one said they would call me back in about 20 minutes. I never got a return call. I finally called at about 3 PM and I was told the car was at the car wash. I finally went to the shop and was given the total, which was about $300 more than the original estimate Carlos had. Next, they said it was washed and there was bird poop on the convertible roof, the clutch and brake pedal pads were off and one of the speaker cages had been knocked off and not replaced. On the outside, one of the four spinners on the rims, was missing. Finally, Carlos had not done the weatherstripping, as he said he could not find the part. He just referred me to a company who produces the part, which I went online and bought it in about 5 minutes. Carlos did not call me and tell me he could not install the weatherstripping, which was one of the main fixes I wanted done. I normally receive very good service from Union 3, but this time I was very disappointed. I will certainly not be coming back to Union 3, as they have succeeded in losing my business. read more

I had my transmission changed at this shop 3 years ago and they did a great job. Peter is easy to deal with and will probably give you a good discount. I Left my car there to change the whole transmission Friday night and it was done on Monday. Drove off to work without any problem and it is still running good up to now.
