I've been coming here for years and I'm not sure I'll be back. Everyone is always very friendly and I've never had a problem before my last visit. I came in to get my brakes changed and it longer than I was told. After getting my car back, the brakes squeaked very loudly. I came back and they adjusted it but on the way home, MORE SQUEAKING! I was a little skeptical about all the positive reviews of Joe's, but the hype about is very well deserved. I dropped my car off around 1 in the afternoon, and told Joe that my transmission was acting up. Within 3 hours he had fixed the problem, and fully tested it. Whats more, he charged me hundreds less than another shop would have, and didnt try to replace something that wasnt broken. I had a great experience at Joe's! The cables connecting to my battery were frayed and not connecting properly so I needed them to be replaced because I had to get under the hood every time I wanted to start my car. Anyway, Joe was recommended to me by my boss and he was great! I feel like other places would have charged $200 without thinking twice and he charged me $25. Joe is not only always much lower than the other quotes, he is a truly honest stand-up kinda guy. I left my daughter's car overnight with him so that he could try to repeat an electrical problem by trying to start it a few times one afternoon and then again the next morning - and because we isolated the gremlin to the stereo having drained the battery a few days before (my daughter later told the other parts of the whole story to allow that to be figured out)....and he would not accept any payment for the troubleshooting !!! Brought my Ford Focus to him to repair a problem the "Brake Center" had caused, day later and $85, they found a short in the electrical system that the brake center had caused and it wasn't just resetting the engine light because it came back on every time you turned the car on. I joined Yelp today just to write a review for Joe's auto. I went to get my car maintenance at Joe for the 2nd time today. He did an amazing job! Very reasonably priced, honest (he will not rip you off), attention to detail, answers his damn phone, and prompt. Everything you want in an autoshop, or in any service business for that matter. I wish AT&T and DirectTV and the IRS were as helpful and responsive... I went to him the first time after I bought a used car to get him to look at it, and change the oil (I went based on the Yelp reviews). He changed the oil, told me the car was in great shape (its a 1999 Jeep!!), and did not need anything except shock replacement (which after my research is pretty standard on a 14-15 year old car!). I waited 3500 miles, went back to get my oil changed, and had him replace the shocks. I also had a leak, which I thought was bad (I am not a car person), but Joe looked at it, and he said it was not a problem- it was a normal A/C drainage. I asked him if anything else needed to be done (b/c I actually trust this guy), and he said no! Now this is where a shady a-hole auto service or dirtbag scamming dealer probably would have tried to rip me off...not Joe. Bottom line: Joe is honest. If you don't know anything about cars, take your car to him. He will not rip you off with fake repairs or ridiculous prices. He will fix whatever you need, and he will have it done by when you need it done..... Seriously people, the BEST auto shop and business anywhere (at least in LA lol). People, governments, and other business's could learn alot from Joe and his autoshop. I hope his good karma reciprocates, and he prospers! Thanks JOE! I just returned from Joe's after my 2006 Camry's annual maintenance service. My big bill---are you ready?---was $34.65. Last year, it was $66.00. Before that, I was having the dealer maintain my Camry because it was still under warrantee and I figured that using the dealer for maintenance would facilitate repair if there was a problem. I wasted a lot of money dealing with the dealer. Joe is honest, hard-working, and knows vehicles. Our world would be a much better place if most businesspeople were like Joe. read more

So I read all these great reviews about this place, so I said why not take my car there for an oil change and also for the check engine light.He calls me and says that he needs to replace some sensor and only the Honda dealer has it,I told him ok go ahead replace it.After few days I saw my friend at the mall who happens to be working for Honda dealer and asked from him to check how much that sensor costs just for hell of it.He calls the next day and tells me that Joe overcharged you almost $15 above the list price and he said that Joe also would get wholesale discount of $10 ;that's $25 total profit on just one part and the shipping is free !!! As you may have noticed this place is not ASE certified ,so I would be real careful especially when you have the "Check Engine" light on.In my experience, these kinds of places lack the tech knowledge to diagnose ,test and find exactly where the problem is .Instead, they just go by guessing and you end up wasting your time and money. I've used the same mechanic for the last 17 years for all the cars I've owned, but I found myself with a broken timing belt in El Segundo which is about 50 miles from home and the tow service would have been several hundred dollars so I decided to go with someone in the area. Yelp to the rescue! Not only did Joe have great reviews, he was only 2 miles from where my car broke down. To make a long story short, my AC compressor and AC condenser were both broken and that is what caused the belt to burn and snap. Replacing both and the belt would have put the bill into four figures. Replacing just the compressor and belt would be $800 (the compressor is the expensive part) and the car would run, but the AC would not. I agreed to just do the compressor and belt so I could get the car running again since it is wintertime and I could fix the AC before the summer hits. Well, Joe was sympathetic and so when he started work on my car (2008 Honda Civic) he bypassed the compressor to get the car running without it and passed the savings on to me. Parts and labor were less than $200 out the door to do the bypass and install a new belt. He could have made himself more money by also installing a new AC compressor but I would not have benefited since without a new AC condenser, AC still won't work. first, some back story: two years ago i took my 2001 honda accord lx to airport marina honda for a 60000 mile tune up. in addition to the tune up, they told me that i needed my (factory-installed) brakes replaced (and rotors resurfaced), which i authorized, as i was told that the brakes had ~2000 miles left, though the brakes were functioning without any problems. two years later my car started to vibrate when braking. i took my car back to airport marina, where they charged me $98 to tell me that the brake rotors were warped. when i asked why, they told me that the cause was my "hard braking" habits, which is funny considering i drove 60000 miles with no problems, only to have vibrating warped brakes 15000 miles after getting new ones at airport marina's suggestion. in addition to brake problems, my car's idle control valve (ICV) was malfunctioning. they told me that they would have to replace the ICV. the total (parts and labor) for brake repair and ICV replacement at airport marina honda = $478 for the ICV + $209 for brakes = $687. considering how the warped brakes were "my fault" and the price, i decided to look elsewhere. now we come to joe's. i did a yelp search and quickly found his high ratings. i checked him out and found joe to be a no-hassle kind of guy who made sensible and money-saving recommendations. instead of getting a new ICV, he recommended simply cleaning it for $75. parts and labor for the brakes totaled $167. total = $242, almost 1/3 the price estimated by the dealership. FYI, the idle problem is now totally fixed, and my brakes work great (solid, smooth, no vibrating). i think that airport marina honda works to squeeze whatever they can out of your wallet, and their brake workmanship seems poor, perhaps even unethical. joe, however, seems to offer good service and good prices, keeping his customer's interests in mind. i will go to joe again if i have another car problem -- he told me that he does all kinds of repairs. read more

Brought my car in to check if a tire had a slow leak that was repairable. He checked my car within the minute I arrived, and had it repaired, and all of the other tires pumped up correctly within 15 minutes of arriving. Quick, easy service, very reasonable price. Would recommend! read more

Not impressed. I needed a last minute oil change and called around. Everyone I normally go to was booked so I called Joe. He was nice, friendly, close by and off I went. I made the cardinal sin of NOT asking how much for the oil change. To be fair, Joe didn't pressure me to stay when I balked at the price. But I was pressed for time and long overdue for an oil change so I stayed. The work was done quickly. Why the 2 star rating? $67+ for AN OIL CHANGE ON MY ACCORD? NO WAY! Joe said otherwise he "loses money" on a synthetic oil change. In addition, no other "wellness" checks like other places such as fluid checks or tire pressure checks, etc. like other places do. Good YELP reviews or not, I'm not coming back! I keep good records. My last oil change at the DEALERSHIP (4 months ago cost $ 44!!! This place is nice but a rip off. read more

Called mechanic asking about oil change for the old beater I've been driving for a decade. "Sure, come on in." When I arrive, he seems upset and starts complaining about an engine noise and laying a guilt trip about the car's state. He has the attitude of a snarky ex-girlfriend and refuses to touch the car, saying the engine sounds messed up so he won't do oil. "Take it to Jiffy Lube, they won't care" he says. I asked if he can fix the problem, as this is an auto shop and he is a mechanic, after all. He gives me a lot more attitude and says he's not touching it because it could potentially require expensive engine costs. I've never met a mechanic so averse to making money fixing cars. Not to mention rude. He didn't drop the attitude until the very end of the conversation when it was clear I was only going to respond to his bitchy mood with kindness. In the end I took the car elsewhere and got the oil changed, fluids replaced, and the engine noise stopped completely. If I could give this guy zero stars I would. Unprofessional and lazy. read more

Figured two/three days, nothing less then $500. I was surprised to get a call from Joe same evening to tell me that all my car needed was a $100 oxigen sensor.
