Perhaps I was a little too harsh on my last review regarding the dust from last time which was not an issue at the table I was at today. And I still have my grips with as you can see in the last review, though my last experience was improved. Both the Hawaiian and Margaritas pizzas were good. We went on a Tuesday and they have a $2 off deal for the smallest size personal pizzas. Which can be quite a deal, the Hawaiian I got was only $10. If you got a plain pizza it would only be $7! My main critique is that the crust is too thin, and there isn't enough extra trust on the edging of the pizza, it makes it harder to grip the pizza when eating especially when it hot. The drink option have free refills including the juices up to two refills. The atmosphere with the bar and the sports games give a good environment. The waiters were also attentive and kind. They also have a fantastic cauliflower crust option for those looking for something on the healthy side. Id recommend it. read more

This place could be 3.5 stars but everything was mostly ok. The broth for the tortellini soup had no flavor so I didn't finish it. The lemon chicken was pretty good but again the the pasta didn't taste like much. The garlic bread was ok - heavy on the butter and less so on garlic. The lasagna was also just fine. I will say the portions were on the generous side. The service was also fine. Not bad but nothing stellar. Ambiance is foos for a casual dinner out. Prices are very reasonable. read more

We patronize Joe's frequently. We also bring our out of town guests there also. They were impressed with the history and quaintness of the restaurant. They were also delighted with their entrees. We've had several items on their menu and for me nothing beats the Joe's Special Pizza. We know the waitstaff pretty well and they are always welcoming to us. read more

Holy Smokes! This place is great! Ok, so to quote my mother: "This place is a mix of dracula's castle, and a cosy mexican cabin." What a mix, but very much true. It's super cosy, great place for a date. It's dark with colors of burgundy throughout. The lamps that look to be decades old are actually chianti bottles. I find it funny that the wallpaper (that also looks to be decades old) is of Mexican landscapes and yet they serve Italian food. Even the sign outside is a dude wearing a Mexican sombrero yet it's a pizza and spaghetti house. Gotta love that. They have free parking across the street. You come in, sit where you like, and they'll bring you a menu and silverware. The pizza is different than what you normally see in most places. It's super thin crust. You remember Boboli pizza crust? Something like that but man... it was very good. We got the caramelized onion pizza, and it was really great. A lot better than what anyone of us was expecting. But let me tell you what the star was at Dracula's mexican castle, the shrimp scampi pasta. Oh my word... This was honestly the best version of shrimp scampi I've had. Once they brought out that plate, you immediately could smell the wine. They do it right, it was absolutely delicious. Buttery, garlicky (to dracula's demise) Shrimp cooked perfectly. I'm drooling as I write this and wanna go over there to relive that moment. I'm just upset that in all the time I've been coming to visit Western MA, It took me this long to give this place a shot. That's a mistake that wont be repeated. Also, my brother ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and I could see how tender the meatballs were. He says it was some of the best he's ever had. I'm so sad to write this. I have been coming here for years, but something's changed. My go to meal the saltimbocca just has no love in it anymore. The dinner salad is the is the same, use to be a delight with the little extras like the radish. I bragged to husband how great the spaghetti and meatballs was...I ate those words tonight. The meatballs are not the same. What happened? Did they get new chefs or new owners. Hope they see this and add the love back in. This local hotspot gave us out of towners a good meal after a long day. We had attempted to dine here the night before but the very long line and the paucity of parking temporarily dissuaded us. The next night we finished our activities earlier so we gave it another go. It is definitely a popular local spot featuring pizzas and pastas in a quirky locale. We watched some scrumptious looking pizzas emerge from the kitchen but my heart was set on pasta with a white broth and my dining companion went for the lasagna. I have included pictures that barely do the dishes justice. In truth the experience deserves 3 1/2 stars for unpretentious food that walks the line between cheap and expensive. It is a local hangout as noted earlier and the locals are loud so not a place for intimate conversations. The Mexican themed decor gives it a funky vibe. This is a great place to go for pasta and pizza. Casual atmosphere. Family-friendly. Good service. Nice beer list with local brews. I had a local English Brown Ale that was wonderful. Good food at a good price. We had wings as an appetizer. They were meaty and flavorful. Hubby enjoyed the Chicken Saltimbocca. My daughter had the Mexican Pizza and liked it. I had the eggplant parmesan and kinda wished I'd ordered something else. The eggplant was heavily breaded - more breading than eggplant. (I would have preferred no breading and should have asked before I ordered.) They do have gluten-free pasta for those who need it. We had their homemade creamy garlic dressing on our salads - delicious. And the garlic bread was very tasty. A half loaf was more than enough for the three of us. Ample portions. Joe's is a fixture in downtown Northampton. Their food is average but if you like thin - crust pizza Joe's is the place for you. It's somewhat of a dive and not super-clean but it's a place where you can bring your family without problems. Service is sometimes good but sometimes not so good. We moved to this area from central NH a year ago and have been looking for replacement pizza to our liking for a while. Joe's was suggested by a neighbor who clearly hasn't been there for many years! Perhaps if was once great? We found it to be awful and will never go back. We have been trying local pizza to find our personal preference style for a year. We like "NYC style", and Regina's in the North End of Boston is how we like our pizza too. But we are open for new experiences so we tried a simple cheese pizza (to go) at Joe's. The Worst pizza we have ever had! Different Is ok, but bad is bad. For example: We liked VeganLand pizza we tried at the NOHO Tuesday farmers market. It is very different, but tasty and expertly prepared. Full of dough flavor and remarkably good cashew based cheese that is hard to believe is non-dairy. But we love NYC style, thin crusty bottom with freshly made dough, expertly cooked. This is not what we got from Joe's. We like well done crisp bottom pizza, but Joe's crust was like a cracker with black flat crust edges. No flavor remained in the dough after the yeast was consumed by over proofing or being held too long. The sugars in the dough had long been consumed before the pizza went in the oven. It appears they over cooked it and the crust simply burned to carbon black instead of browning.This may have been in-house mixed dough, but it was held in the cooler too long. Frozen pizza from the grocery store offers better crusts when carefully baked at home. Sending out a pizza such as this indicated total lack of respect for the food and their customers, IMO. Poor handling of the pizza dough prior and during the time in the oven. This dough may have been passed Its "ready to sell" date. IDK. At this point we think the Antonio's Pizza in Amherst Center is the best we have found in the area. Flavor in the dough, sauce, and cheese without adding tons of salt to make up for flavorless sauce. This place is freaking adorable. Like, so cute. And the food is really good. During the earlier days of the pandemic, this just seemed like place to get COVID. No masks in sight (because you could get away with bucking the rule as long as you had a drink of some kind in front of you) and a full room of people. Yikes. But the food. The food is really good. Whatever you do, do NOT order the chicken marsala. Truly terrible - there doesn't appear to actually be any marsala in the sauce, just butter and garlic with pale hunks of chicken. I'd consider this dish to be a staple at Italian restaurants, and I've ordered it countless times. The staff is very homelike in my experience. I haven't explored their menu beyond their pizza, which is in my opinion the best in Northampton. The restaurant itself could use some updating as the entire place feels like an outdated, eclectic dive bar. There's nothing wrong with that and it works for the customer base, just my opinion. My son and I took a day trip to Northampton mainly to check out the recently opened Deep Thoughts record shop. While I was finishing up there I mentioned wanting to get a bite to eat. The owner of Deep Thoughts recommended Joe's. It was conveniently located right next to where I parked so I decided to give it a shot. It doesn't look like much on the outside but as soon as I stepped in I felt like I had been transported to a cozy neighborhood restaurant in the 70s. As a child of the 70s I absolutely love this atmosphere! We were warmly greeted by one of the waitresses and told we could choose any table. Our waitress was very friendly and brought our drinks quickly. I ordered the chicken parm grinder and my son got a 10" pizza. The chicken parm was great! Crispy breading with a generous amount of melted provolone and sauce on toasted bread. Although I didn't try my son's pizza it looked like a great bar pie. He said it was great and I believe it! Definitely a local hangout. I have driven past this for year but never thought to go in. Thanks to Yelp I made the plunge on the way back from hitting the VT slopes. Glad I did. The place inside is a throwback. Older booths line one room and not a window to be seen. It was bright outside but dark inside. Service was good though overworked. The dining room was crowded for a late lunch. Families, couples, friends. A good mix. As for the food, we scored a pizza, mussels and fried mozzarella for under $30. A good value. In this ever more expensive world, joes was a refreshing experience. I visited with 2 friends recently and we were about to order a whole loaf of garlic bread but the waitress suggested we size down. Sage advice! We decided to split and nibble a bit of everything so we ordered a spinach garlic pizza and a meatless lasagna. We left satisfied and happy with a bill less than $50. I just did take out lasagna - only two layers of noodles ( bottom and top ) - hardly any sauce or cheese. It has no flavor . A tiny little limp salad and no bread. I love Joes. A very unpretentious place to enjoy a meal in a town that, well, can at times be anything but "down home". The waitresses have obviously been long time employees and are very professional and attentive. The food is some of the best Italian food in the Pioneer Valley. The place can get rather crowded and is almost always busy. But you never feel neglected. My go to here is the Chicken Marsala and it has yet to disappoint. My advice? "Eat at Joes" read more
