This is the best cafe in town my opinion steaks are great why go a steakhouse where cost anywhere from $20 and up so far everything I ordered was great and they have big menu of all kind of food for just about everyone me and my wife have take out sometime twice a week and they give you a lot of food for the money I have tried quite a few items and always happy with it. read more

If you are looking for old fashioned cafe food, this is the place. The burgers are some of the best I have found. They are huge pattys, hand pressed cooked on a well seasoned grill with a toasted bun! I can get 10X the quality for just a few dollars more than McDonalds! I used to be a fan. My wife and I used to love coming here for breakfast. It's small, cozy, the people are nice enough, nothing pretentious about it at all. And then - about a year ago - there was a giant fly under my giant pancake. My wife stopped eating (I did too!) and wanted to leave immediately. We paid for her meal and left. For the better part of a year, I'd mention to her that I'd like to go back. Something like that could happen anywhere and we DID like the food before - let's give them another shot. So, for Father's Day, she relented and said we could go. I ordered the giant pancake again, with the egg and bacon on the side. The pancake arrived, dark brown on one half and VERY dark brown - almost black - on the other. I put the butter on the cake... and it sat there. No melting. I touched the pancake and it was room temp; I then touched the egg and it was cold. Obviously, with the AC blasting, plates were setting under the blowers and chilling out before the waitress would get to them. And the bacon? I like it crispy but this had zero moisture to it - completely overcooked. The waitress said she suspected the pancake was overcooked but didn't know it and the egg were also cold. She offered to replace, but at that point I was just done with a once-favorite place. read more

There is a comfort to this place. It reminds me of growing up eating in my grandmas kitchen. The service is friendly and attentive. The food is good and gives me the same memories. . It's not a place to eat with your pinkies up, it's a place that is welcoming and that goes a long way towards improving the whole experience read more

Wasn't sure what to expect, but we found a new favorite. I loved the little cafe feel and the staff was great. I had the French toast breakfast combo and my friend had the hot beef lunch. Both meals were great with good pricing! We will definitely go back and try other things. read more

I really was hoping the food was as good as the service but it was not. I ordered cfs egg scrambled with cheese and dry toast. I got....a plate of mashed hash browns, cfs drenched in pool of oil and toast dunked in butter, and eggs covered in hard nasty sliced cheese. Worst prep ever, I am sure I tasted 12 other foods which says the grill is disgusting. And dirty. Coffee was so bad I couldn't bear to finish. I got sick as soon as I finished what I could eat. My man preferred the omelette, ham and cheese which was burnt and looked dropped on the floor, he ended up sick as well. I'm thinking no proper sanitation is here. I'm pretty sure the server knew the deal because he never once asked us how it tasted I'm assuming he knew it was terrible just by the looks of what he served us. I will never pay for my own torture again ... should probably shut down. read more

Joe's isn't a fancy place, but if you enjoy food that reminds you of home and service by kind and caring staff this is the place to be. Our family was there for d lo Saturday brunch and they weren't packed, which was a nice change. The pancakes were huge and eggs were cooked perfectly. When I think of a diner (or cafe) I think: cheap prices, big portions, homey. Joe's definitely has the homey part down. It is clean and simple on the inside with nice big windows for lots of light and vinyl booths plus some nice black and white shots of the cafe over the years. It's bigger than it looks too with a back seating are and nice old fashioned counter-style dining too. Not sure which owner we are on but they were not there when we dined. Unfortunately I didn't go there for the ambiance. I am a Benson resident so I like to patron my neighborhood when possible. Based on the food we had, not sure it's worth a second visit. We went for lunch, I had noticed they have a big sign that reads "SALADS" in the window and being on a diet currently thought it would be a good option. I was surprised to pick up the menu and read they offer a whole Mexican fare section. For some reason though you can't get any of it before 2 p,m. That seemed weird to offer lunch but exclude that part of the menu. Anyway, I ordered a chicken taco salad. I've had plenty in my day and knew it would be pretty basic but at $6.99 I got maybe a cup of chopped iceberg lettuce scattered over some fried flour tortilla "chips" plus maybe 4 oz of shredded chicken breast, and a 1/4 cup each of diced tomato and shredded cheese. I ordered salsa for my dressing and wanted to try their Italian too. They don't make any dressing in house the waitress told me and the salsa was clearly from a jar. Makes me dubious of the Mexican food quality. I didn't even bother with the Italian dressing. My husband tried their pork tenderloin sandwich and fries for $7 too. It was nothing too impressive, I would not have known it was pork being diminutive and wearing a thick coat of under-seasoned batter. Probably a frozen patty, to bad since a good pork sandwich can really be an awesome thing. He got less fries than you get at a fast food chain too and fries are not that pricey to be generous with. The waitress was friendly enough but when she served my husbands soda, it was off tasting and she seemed pretty unconcerned. Not a big deal but swift service and a sense of urgency over a customer's complaint goes a long way with me. Here's the thing though, when we got up to pay the bill, I looked over and saw another customer enjoying a plate heaped with fluffy scrambled eggs and overflowing with hash browns. What was the deal with our skimpy portions? A bummer to say the least. Save your money and eat at the Radial Cafe. read more

THE FOOD IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The new owners are big on making their own dressings and they have a more natural menu selection. If you really want something specific, they will make it for you. I recommend the special hamburger they sell, and a bowl of their soup (any of them are great). I also recommend their ice cream. They make a lot of their own ice cream!!!! Give the new owners a try, you won't regret it. The hours are normal again. The best time to go is lunch!!!! They are usually closed by 2 pm. read more

A Benson original, the kind of place where you'll see a dozen local work-guys and handymen sitting around shooting the sh*t during the lunch hour. The food is barely above basic diner fare. It's a shame because with the recent expansion of the Benson entertainment district, this would be the perfect place for a steak-n-shake-style hamburger joint. All it needs is a stern cleaning a coat of paint, new booths and furniture, a new kitchen and a chef willing to go through and cut their menu down to a mere dozen items. The place has new owners now. I haven't been there since the change, so I can't comment on the food. Hours still seem to be sketchy. In the last month I've only seen it open 2-3 times out of 30-40 drive bys. Old review below. -------------------------------------- The staff here is pretty friendly and the prices are right in line with any other diner in the area. The food is nothing to rave over, but it's acceptable. The only issue I've really had is figuring out their hours. Sometimes I'll go by in the afternoon and they are closed. Went here for breakfast about 6 months ago. Not good. Food was all out of the freezer, and so overly salted I could feel the bloating happening as I ate. Only thing that tasted like it was actually "cooked" and not re-heated were the pancakes. Unfortunately that didn't make them good. read more

It has been over 10 years since I was last at Joe's cafe...and for the life of me I don't know why I waited so long to go back. Went there last week with my wife and son and had a phenomenal breakfast and all for less than 10 bucks! This place is great, and now in the rotation of places we will cruise to for a meal with friends. Didn't order the bisquits and gravy, but should have...that stuff looked great! I chose this place for my 50th bday brunch! I'd never been and it looked interesting... like your typical dive breakfast joint but with a cool vibe. The food was awesome, great portions and tasty too! We had an omelet, French toast, bacon, eggs, toast, hash browns and coffee, all of it was fabulous! Can't help but think the people writing the scathing reviews are the same type of people that will go to a fast food restraunt and complain there's no real silverware. This place is perfect for what it is. The atmosphere is casual, which is great on a lazy weekend morning. We've never had to wait for a table, and even when the place is packed the staff does an amazing job of keeping everybody well fed and taken care of. Ordered 2 cheese burgers that tasted like they were cooked on grill cleaning solution, chemical taste to meat. Ordered 3 hot beef sandwiches, other food like green beans mixed in with the meat (looked like it was uneaten portion from someone else's plate). Smallest portions, pathetic waste of money.
