My husband saw a video on TikTok of someone ordering from The Branding Iron. We just so happened to be going to Lincoln from Omaha so decided to make a breakfast stop. Very intimate and eclectic diner with a huge breakfast and lunch menu. We had to start with the cinnamon roll as it was massive. It was very fluffy, warm and had whipped icing. What a cute little place in Wahoo! Super friendly and great service. Food was super great too. All your cafe classics. We drove 30 minutes to try this place out. We arrived around 9:00am and sat on the waiting bench for about 15 min, until a table opened up. They are quick to clean up tables and get folks seated. It is a testament to how good this place is when, although small, it is packed. We were waited on promptly by a very sweet and hardworking server. When the cafe is surrounded by a cow operation on three sides and smells like sizzling beef you best be ordering a thick and juicy hamburger. We did just that on our first trip to the Branding Iron Cafe and we were not disappointed! Located near the edge of town, not unusual when cattle are involved, this little cafe packs a big punch with its breakfast and lunch offerings while open 7:00 am-2:00 pm Thursday thru Monday. (Closed Tuesday and Wednesday) Upon entering a server let us know it was open seating, brought us menus and promptly took our drink orders. Servers were amazing and with one fluid trip to the grill to que up our order she wiped down two tables and straightened another. As we were leaving, we learned that the cook was newly hired and just finishing up week one at the grill. Hang on to this one! Our $8.99 burgers were seasoned and charred to perfection. Add in the perfect fries and you will keep 99.9% of Nebraska's population satisfied--our burgers and fries were that good! Our only disappointment was being too stuffed to try items from the dessert or breakfast menu. The strawberry shortcake will be sampled on our next trip along with the biscuits and gravy, eggs over easy, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls.............you see the dilemma. My eggs were cooked perfectly, bacon was delicious and sausage gravy was very good, too! Our young waitress took exceptional care of us! I was in town for some business with the city Hall and look this place up and it only had one review as I recall but it was complimentary so I thought I would try it I had a 1/2 order roast beef sandwich was mashed potatoes and a side salad a glass of water for only $5.90 . Yep, Woohoo in Wahoo!! I said it. Heading north on 77 in NE in the RV and looking for a late Sunday morning breakfast, and discovered this gem. Less than 2 miles off the Hwy, and able to park the RV. But that is not what makes this such a find. Well prepared food and a welcoming staff puts the Home in homestyle café. I had eggs over easy done to perfection and cheesy grits. Quality and quantity beyond what you would expect for the price. And what did I spy with my little eye? A tray of giant sticky buns. Had to get one for the road. Next day breakfast on the road to remind how great a choice it was. My guess, from the expressions of disappointment that the biscuits and gravy had run out (it was already after noon), is they must be a local favorite. So go early for that. My companion had the corned beef hash that hit every marker as well. read more
