Took my family to Joe's and it was so worth it! As we were walking down the sidewalk looking for the entrance - Joe, himself, called out to us to come on over because he was waiting to hold the door. This warm, friendly welcome set the tone for the whole experience. Joe stopped by and told us the "rules". Everyone orders something different and we all share. My daughters both ordered waffles but one got it in a combo so she could follow the rules. I got the breakfast burrito with Texas sausage & bacon. My husband got the eggs & diced ham with a side of biscuits and gravy. My son got the French Dip because you can order breakfast or lunch at 10 am. Everyone ate a good portion if not all of their food. It was good. We will definitely be back. For the food but more for the service!

We wanted to try something different for lunch. I found Joes Cafe on Yelp. It did not disappoint. Everything we had easy really yummy. The bacon and sausage were highlights. Kids loved the pancakes. Joe is a national treasure that should be protected at all costs. He let my kids pick out a handmade wooden toy car. He calls them his niece and nephew and had some juice and grits brought to our table to try. This was our first time having grits so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was really good. As others have said, the hospitality is second to none. Joe made us feel like family, we will definitely stop in again.

The hospitality is phenomenal over here! Definitely makes you feel like you are family when you come! Staff is great and the food is delicious! Food is made and served pretty quick. This place gets packed but seems to have quick service! They have both breakfast and lunch on their menu. I got Joe's ultimate burger. That thing was packed with sautéed mushrooms and bacon! It did not disappoint. We also got the Belgian waffle. This thing was so fluffy yet crispy at the same time. By far the best waffle I've ever had. Overall great experience. Appreciate Joe the owner and the entire staff for giving excellent service and experience! Will definitely be coming back.

To say this was one of the best breakfast experiences of my life wouldn't do it justice. The food 10/10 , service 10/10 , vibes 11/10. The owner came out and was just the nicest guy you could ever meet. Had a few funny stories to tell us and was going table to table making everyone feel at home. this would be a weekly stop if I lived here

Let's start with the food - it was fast, delicious, and enormous. The staff were all incredibly nice and chef David even came out and gave us a small dish of grits and another dish of sausage gravy to try, both super tasty.

The best little spot to get breakfast with a loved one! It's super homey inside and all the workers are so friendly. If you're lucky, Joe will come chat with you and tease you while you're eating; he is what makes this cafe the best! The food is all great & fairly priced. Portions are huge. Joe's Café didn't have air conditioning going when we ate lunch there. It was incredibly hot. It made it a very uncomfortable dining experience. They messed up on a few of our orders. They bring out the food as it's made and one person in our group was forgotten. I got the French toast with eggs and bacon, and the food was very average. The syrup bottle on the table was beyond sticky. The best part of the experience was our waitress. She was really nice. There is plenty of parking behind the restaurants.

We were looking for the best breakfast restaurants in Orem, and Joe's Cafe was the first to pop up on google. When you walk in the restaurant feels college themed, with tons of pictures just everywhere on the walls. I mean, there isn't really a blank space left. I ordered the short stack pancakes, and my Mimi ordered a half Belgian waffle. We both got hash browns (Yes they have actual hash browns not home fries) and scrambled eggs. Service is quick, it took about 10 minutes for our food to be on our table. But, instead of receiving a short stack, they gave me silver dollar pancakes. But this is ok, I didn't mind. The pancakes are light and buttery, and practically melt in your mouth. My Mimi really liked her waffle, too. The hash browns aren't too soft, and aren't too crunchy. They're cooked just right. The scrambled eggs are soft, but could be a little more runny. Anyways, our breakfast was pretty good, but can have some improvements. This would be a 4, but considering how friendly the people are, this is a 5. Great job Joe!

First time to Joes Cafe and it was fantastic. When we walked up Joe greeted us as if we'd been friends for years. Joe then asked us what we were in the mood for, told us what was good (which I'm convinced was everything looking at the tables next to us) and he had our order before we even sat down. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with grits and my wife got the breakfast sandwich with avocado. I'm a big biscuits and gravy fan but also critic. I need a good biscuit, tasty gravy that is meaty. This was it! Throw in two over easy eggs on top and it all just worked! The grits also really good and sweet. My wife also really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich w/avocado and by the looks of it would have been something I would order in the future if the biscuits and gravy wasn't so darn good. Also, don't sleep on Joe's juice, delicious! We sat outside on the patio which on a beautiful Utah morning was perfect.

We were greeted and seated promptly. They even placed the high chair for us and gave our toddler a car to play with while we ordered. The vibes were great and everyone was super friendly. My little one was even given a small pancake with a fruit smiley face to eat while we waited for our food. Definitely kid and family friendly. As for the food it came out fairly quick and was nice and hot and good size portions. One of the better breakfast places I've been to and would go back.

Seriously great food. I got the Denver omelette with hash browns and an English muffin, my husband got the French toast with eggs and sausage. Both were excellent. It's easy to miss on state, but stays busy. It feels like your eating at a corner spot in New York. Stoked we have something this great in Utah! read more

Great food. Great southern hospitality. Joe is busy in the kitchen but will spend time talking to customers and take photos. The walls are covered with photos of him and customers. We had the tuna melt, biscuits & gravy, and chili cheese omelet. All delicious and very reasonably priced. read more

This place is amazing. It's a family business and it's great. The customer service is very good. You can see Joe cooking in the back, and if he's not sure of something on your order he'll come out and ask you and he's HILARIOUS. His probably 13 year old daughter took our order and she was so professional and adorable. I ordered a Belgium waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, 2 eggs Sunnyside up and 2 pieces of bacon. It was delicious. This is just good solid diner food with a southern twist! The grits are delicious and so are the biscuits and gravy. read more

We will not be ordering any more food from Joe's Cafe. We made an online order and paid. When we arrived to pick the food up the order had been forgotten about. Our food was ready approximately 30 minutes later. When we got home we realized that half of the order was missing. Furthermore the food that wasn't forgotten was very mediocre at best. Lastly, finding several hairs in the food was what ultimately pushed me to write this review. I truly do not understand why this place has a rating as high as it does. read more

Joe's Cafe is hands down one of the best breakfast/lunch places I've ever been to! My wife and I went for a late brunch. She had a burger and I had the biscuits and gravy with an over medium egg on top- both of which were fantastic. I'm personally picky about how eggs are cooked. I love yolk but I don't want it to be too runny. A perfect over medium egg is how I can tell a breakfast place is the real deal, and Joe's has it down. The sausage gravy was killer! The service was also quick and very good. Joe makes sure to become friends with everyone that enters the restaurant. Great personality, great food. Definitely coming back. read more

Legitimate food cooked with soul. This place brings me back to my childhood. Recipes seasoned for excellence, I don't even eat gross but I crave coming back and getting them here. (Legitimately the only time I've ate a bowl and wanted more.) Like the traditional African American breakfast. It's heavy and puts me straight to sleep afterwards. Not a bad problem to have as long as you don't have any other plans for the day. The experience makes this a 5 star restaurant without question. Go there once and you're treated like family. read more

Joes is one of the last of the greasy spoon restaurants where you can actually order grits if you like. Make no mistake about it, if you go there, you must order the grits. If you go there on a Saturday for breakfast, good luck finding a seat - they are that popular. Joe's is a great atmosphere. If joe doesn't recognize you, you will certainly be introduced to him and his wife - super nice people. Regarding the food, I ordered eggs, bacon and hash browns and grits. There was so much food that I couldn't finish it - enough leftovers fo another meal. Bottom line, it is easy to order. I highly recommend Joe's. Park in the back. read more

This place is special and joe is one of a kind. Don't even think twice about going anywhere else if you want some good dang grub. Joe's omelet is huge and filling. This place was great! Why is it not on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives!?!?! What makes this place great is of course, Joe! He's such a character! You will fall in love with him. And the food was fantastic of course. We ordered the grits of course and we devoured it. He even gave seconds on the house, because we let it slip that we weren't full. I would totally go here again! This place is delicious. The portions are huge as you'd expect in a southern comfort food joint. My favorite is the biscuits and gravy, but the grits, French toast, and eggs are all amazing. The staff is super friendly and you feel right at home there. It gets a little crowded and seating is limited, though, so try to beat the crowd. read more

This place is awesome. I used to walk by this little place every day coming home from work. I had no idea what was inside and doubted that I'd ever try it. I'm so glad I did. Big portions. Super good grits. I always get an omelette which is giant. The owner, Joe will want you to try his special juice. He's pure energy and entertainment. Joe has given me free food several times. The restaurant is cool with lots of pictures of the customers. My only complaint is the use of American cheese. I am not a fan, put some real cheese on that food and I'd give this place 5 stars. read more

Joe's Cafe has good food and very friendly service. The first time I ate there was a few years ago, and I remember having a positive experience. The owner was friendly with everyone who came in, and I enjoyed the food, though I no longer remember what I ordered. That hasn't changed. Today he approached me and thanked me for my business when I came to pick up my simple online order of a breakfast sandwich and grits--which was done 10 minutes earlier than expected and absolutely delicious! :) read more

LOVE their pancakes. They come as small bit-sized pancakes but in a HUGE pile! They are delicious and melt in your mouth. Joe, the owner, is super friendly and loud and funny and personal with every customer. We go here when we want home cooked like breakfast/brunch. Don't waste your time with other places. read more

Everyone says that they have the best biscuits and gravy, but it's impossible to say since today we didn't get biscuits at all. We got a wonderful mountain of meaty gravy on top of cut up sliced bread. SOO disappointed! We even asked what bread they used, and they said biscuits, but the bread pieces had little crusts like on plain white bread. I don't know if they ran out of biscuits today or if that's really what it's always like but I was sad to pay $8 for it. I'll be taking the gravy home tonight to put on top of real biscuits. read more

If I could put no stars I would. I like a big personality as much as the next person, but I do not like strangers grabbing my hair and asking if it is real. This is what Joe did. Throughout my experience there he was touching women customers without asking, taking pictures with little girls, one of whom he told to put her arms around his waist. He keeps talking and talking and overwhelms any thoughts you're thinking about Wow, this guy sure is handsy.... I got on yelp to see if anyone else had experienced this as well. Someone mentioned he had been sent to jail for soliciting sex with a minor. We went a couple of times, the last time he wanted a pic with our daughter which we thought was weird. I watched him make our food, he accidentally dripped some pancake batter on the front side of the griddle and on his shoe. He used his spatula to scrape it up off the front side of the griddle and off HIS SHOE! Then used it to keep flipping pancakes and hash browns. Then I found out he got arrested for soliciting sex from a minor and has a history of doing this. This is why the location was closed for a few months, he was in jail. I ordered #2 Hanks Country Breakfast which included a chicken fried steak, hash browns, eggs, and biscuits and gravy. The chicken fried steak was crispy and not too much gristle like you would get with most cfs. The gravy was had a nice hearty flavor and with black pepper infused with the gravy. This gravy tastes really familiar to me. I thought I took a picture of my dish. I guess I didn't. The gravy was the same gravy that was on the biscuits and gravy. Again, very familiar with the b & g. The hash browns were cooked in butter not oil and had a nice light brown crust on both sides. I really appreciated this. My scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy and had a nice firm texture. I also ordered the Crazy Eights which is supposed to be "Italian Donuts" with Carmel and chocolate sauce drizzled on top with a chocolate dipping sauce. The "Italian Donuts" turned out to be the Utah Scone chopped up in triangles. I enjoyed the caramel drizzle but not the chocolate sauce, which was too bitter for my tastes. After thinking about why the biscuits and gravy tastes so familiar, they remind me of the biscuits and gravy from the IHG (Holiday Inn, etc) hotels I frequented when I was on the road. These b&g are supplied by Sysco Foods. Like I said, they taste a little too familiar for me. I'm not complaining, I really like these! What I am complaining about is how you order. I think using the phone at the table to order our food reminds me of the old "Training Table" restaurant chain. I didn't appreciate the "rules" on how we needed to order and that we couldn't split the check. They didn't even deliver the food to our table. I definitely won't be leaving a tip for service! My other complaint were the restrooms. They were nasty. I would've rather went in the bushes behind the building. Check your restrooms!!!! Good thing I didn't go in there before I ate.
