It's Memorial weekend. We decided to go to Mt. Pleasant over the weekend before the big rush on Monday. We couldn't find anywhere to eat at Mt. Pleasant so we drove to the Spanish Fork location. My mother-in-law was opposed to us stopping here because she has a bad experience 30 years ago. We talked her into giving ac second chance. I ordered #2 Hanks Country Breakfast which included a chicken fried steak, hash browns, eggs, and biscuits and gravy. The chicken fried steak was crispy and not too much gristle like you would get with most cfs. The gravy was had a nice hearty flavor and with black pepper infused with the gravy. This gravy tastes really familiar to me. I thought I took a picture of my dish. I guess I didn't. The gravy was the same gravy that was on the biscuits and gravy. Again, very familiar with the b & g. The hash browns were cooked in butter not oil and had a nice light brown crust on both sides. I really appreciated this. My scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy and had a nice firm texture. I also ordered the Crazy Eights which is supposed to be "Italian Donuts" with Carmel and chocolate sauce drizzled on top with a chocolate dipping sauce. The "Italian Donuts" turned out to be the Utah Scone chopped up in triangles. I enjoyed the caramel drizzle but not the chocolate sauce, which was too bitter for my tastes. After thinking about why the biscuits and gravy tastes so familiar, they remind me of the biscuits and gravy from the IHG (Holiday Inn, etc) hotels I frequented when I was on the road. These b&g are supplied by Sysco Foods. Like I said, they taste a little too familiar for me. I'm not complaining, I really like these! What I am complaining about is how you order. I think using the phone at the table to order our food reminds me of the old "Training Table" restaurant chain. I didn't appreciate the "rules" on how we needed to order and that we couldn't split the check. They didn't even deliver the food to our table. I definitely won't be leaving a tip for service! My other complaint were the restrooms. They were nasty. I would've rather went in the bushes behind the building. Check your restrooms!!!! Good thing I didn't go in there before I ate. read more

Unique way to order food. Many options for American food. I like the scones and Navajo tacos. Lehi store has ice cream, shakes, and floats, but the Spanish Fork store does not, so it loses a star. read more

Absolutely amazing. The place was clean, the art was pretty, the service was simple and good. The order was done quickly, the employee took out order fast, and who o assume to be the manager or another employee personally came around to make sure everything was ok. I got the chicken teriyaki skillet, and it was absolutely incredible. They have a variety of sausages and food items, with great portion sizes and clearly skilled chefs. read more

Love the old school vibe when you first walk in! I've lived in SF my whole life and this is the first time I've been here, and it did NOT disappoint! ALL of the workers were so nice and respectful to me and my family! The cook, the waitress, etc. They were playing with my 1 year old daughter the entire time and she was loving it! We loved speaking with Mariana and Luis, unfortunately we didn't grab the cooks name, but he was very nice as well. This place is WAAYYY better than IHOP & DENNYS If I wanted to be a regular at any breakfast place, I'd choose this one! Couldn't get over how friendly and attentive they were to us the whole time! I love one man band for the novelty. The food is okay but nothing special. Very solid dinner food and of course AMAZING service.

This place is classic Americana and I loved every minute of it. I was all in on the love from the second we walked in. This place being a 2.5 star rating on here is just a complete misrepresentation of how fun and delicious this place really is. This place is different in that really everything is self service. But that also is part of the charm in my opinion. We got the hobo meal and damn that was on point and huge. The coffee was also really good. The service is good but like I said it's more of a self service place so be ready for that. read more

I wanted to try this place and we finally did, for breakfast. I'm pretty easy on restaurants, but this is one I am crossing off our list. As others have said it's pretty much self-serve: get your own silverware, pour your own coffee, bus your own food. Like breakfast at a Hampton Inn. Not quite what I expected, but I figured if the food is good that's what really counts. Unfortunately it didn't count. The scrambled eggs were dry and below the ones at a hotel buffet as far as taste and consistency go. The sausage patties had a puddle of grease below them, and the pancakes were tough and dry-- you need to run back and get a lot of syrup to get those down. Same with my wife's order, one of the "hipster avocado" thingies. She's usually easy to please-- she wasn't pleased this time. The phone at the table for the "call in your own order" scheme is straight out of the failed "Here's Johnny's" chain of Johnny Carson-themed restaurants of the late 1960s. I thought it was fun then. Not so much now. We shoulda driven a few miles past and eaten breakfast at IHop. This was a waste. read more

Did not enjoy my experience at all. Food was below average, and below average cleanliness. Burger was just meh, and the fries were hot, and re-fried! Just awful. My wife ordered the Indian Taco and only ate a few bites. The canned chili on it was just sooo good she couldn't eat another bite. We had flies buzzing around our table because of uncleaned tables and FULL bus bins with dirty dishes and whatever comes with those dishes (the uneaten food) sitting on the counter next to the self serve drink station and directly behind our booth. I understand the vibe and atmosphere they were shooting for and maybe it worked 30 years ago. It actually reminded me of the truck stop diner in the small New Mexico town I grew up in. Didn't like that place either. The staff was friendly enough but disconnected. It's a self serve type of place. You call in your order from the phone in your booth to the waitress who is literally standing at the counter 6' away. You then get your own drinks, utensils, etc. Not going back unless they remodel, get a new menu and/or CLEAN THE PLACE. Second worse diner I've been to since moving here. read more

Broken down seating, so the table was chest high, very run down, cold burnt toast hash browns browned only on one side, doughy biscuits, gravy with no meat or flavor, and overpriced! We have gone to this location for a year or so. It was recently updated and I believe it has new management. The inside is much cleaner and updated! And the staff is so friendly. My 2 year old son loves the phones that are at the tables, and the man working was so kind to him! He allowed my son to call him and chatted with him over the phone a few times. We love this place and it's quickly becoming our frequent Sunday breakfast spot. The service is always so quick and the prices are cheap for the amount of food you get. My usual is becoming the ham and eggs (Classic Americana) which is amazing. The ham is bone in and the perfect amount of salty. I love the vibe this place has. You order from a phone on your table and self serve your drinks it's a cool experience for kids and adults alike. The staff is always friendly and helpful in any way they can be. I happen to like this place and it's set up. You get up and get your own drink, you order over the phone at the table. The food was good, it was freshly made and came to the table hot, and it was fairly priced I believe. It was typical diner fare. Menu was varied and they do breakfast all day. The cook and the waitress were both very pleasant and nice. This place isn't amazing, and it's not terrible, it's what you'd expect. We decided to go to this place for our Friday night date. Let me start off by saying that their scones, which come with practically every meal, are delicious. I had a Navajo taco and it was decent. My wife had the Fort Worth chicken. Take a regular size chicken breast and cut it in half and then cut it in half again, and that was the size of the chicken breast that she got. It was literally gone in three bites! The mashed potatoes had more gravy then actual potatoes and they came cold. The waitress took them back and warmed them up in the microwave. After you got through all the gravy it turns out they were just instant mashed potatoes. There was some broccoli on the plate but it tasted funny so we didn't finish it. When you come in and sit down, they have the menus at the table on the wall and there's a white phone there that we had to use to order. The crazy thing about that was we picked up the phone and it rang 5 feet away from our table so we were literally sitting there watching her take our order 5 feet away. Then we had to stand up and go get our own drinks and silverware. At the end when we got our check that meal rang up for three dollars more than what was on the menu. I definitely would not recommend this place. I can't believe they weren't embarrassed to put out a plate of food like that. Many years ago when one man band first opened in the northern part of the county, it was our favourite place to go. Loved their breakfast menu options and Navajo tacos. Feeling nostalgic we stumbled into this location hoping to enjoy a meal from the "past." Husband ordered breakfast and I ordered a burger. Average wait time as told to us by the cook is 22 minutes. When food arrived, husband was thrilled with his breakfast. My burger was fine but nothing to brag about. Overall, the meal was okay but probably won't be coming back any time soon read more

One Man Band of Spanish Fork has the atmosphere of a small town 1950s diner. It is decorated with 50s rock and roll memorabilia throughout and features plenty of chrome. But looking beyond the glossy decorations the restaurant itself is in need of some serious upkeep. Some of the seating was worn out and others, like our booth, had gaping holes showing the stuffing and foam inside the seats. The restaurant and the bathroom were also kind of dirty, again needing more regular upkeep. Like the Training Table chain of restaurants, at One Man Band Diner, you order by telephone from your table. Moment later they ring your table to pick-up your food and pay for it upfront. Breakfast for two was cheap, only $13. My breakfast burrito was pretty good. Nothing remarkable. But it tasted pretty good and I was hungry. My wife ordered the country breakfast with a chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, hash browns and eggs. She said it was not very good and described it as "Denny's quality". Great food made per instructions and was hot and delicious. Kitchen was open and you can see how every meal is prepared. Kitchen staff all wore gloves and changed them out regularly. One man band has an old 50 vibe to it and you use a phone to call in your orders to the kitchen. When your food is ready they call out the number of your food and you go get it picking up silverware and beverages of your choice. Just let me start by saying, trying to find anything open in Utah on a Sunday is next to impossible. I'm only giving them one star because they were open. As for their food, let's start with the people to take the orders... I specifically called for an order to go, a simple breakfast sandwich, I gave them the simple instructions over the phone I repeat it twice, when I arrived the breakfast sandwich was ready to go already in a bag, I should have known to check it first. My mistake. Low B hold several miles down I 15 south I discovered that he didn't even come close to making it right. I called and asked for a refund and the gentleman that answered the phone said he would, two weeks have passed no result. I try to take a bite, it was disgusting. Cooks need hairnets. Every single person in that kitchen was not wearing gloves and did not have their hair protected in anyway. We had seven meals at the table and five of them had hair in them. Owner was nice enough to give our money back (although we had to ask, they only offered apologies at first) but the damage was already done. Cooks had an attitude about the situation. Used ketchup packets to put ketchup on burger? Odd. Just because the theme is from the past doesn't mean that the place shouldnt be modern. New furniture, new picture frames, better updated food stations, etc. And the new stuff can be designed after the 1950's so it keeps the charm. But right now it looks old and gross. read more
