I normally don't write reviews, but what just happened was quite shocking to me. One of my business friends and I meet once a month to discuss our businesses and catch up in person. We always try new places and she suggested Joe's. I lived in Jersey for five years so I love a good diner. They were really busy so I waited a while to be seated. When nothing came open we decided to sit at the bar. Service was great. Food was great. We stayed about an hour. Our backs were to the entrance since we were at the bar so we had no way of knowing a line had formed. Instead of asking us politely if we were able to give our seats up soon to allow for new guests, a gentleman who worked there walked up to us and told us very rudely (in front of others) that we needed to go because they had a line of people waiting. It's a small cafe and there were people all around us who saw it happen. We weren't being loud or rude or anything, so it came out of nowhere. It was embarrassing and awkward. We were being kicked out and had to stop our conversation and finish it outside in the cold. I have never experienced anything like this. I know they are doing well and I'm sure my business won't be missed, but I truly can't believe that just happened. I don't wish them ill will at all. However, a little heads up and kindness would have made this awkward situation unavoidable. I hope they can discover a better way during peak hours to address their clientele when this happens. So we flew into Dulles for a work conference and since we couldn't check-in to our hotel till later that afternoon we decided to grab a bite to eat. After parsing through some reviews I stumbled across Joe's. Definitely diner vibes from the get go and I was excited. The staff was very attentive and we sat almost immediately for it being near capacity. I was debating between dishes and the waitress suggested the chorizo. She did not steer me wrong. It was so delicious! Not a piece left on my plate. Highly recommend for those traveling through the area to check it out. I'll definitely be coming back once again if I'm ever in the area. read more

My experience here was overall average. Pros: Price. From the handful of breakfast places I've checked out in the area, in terms of price, this might have been the best. Parking. Although this place can get extremely busy, parking is pretty good and was easy. Pace. The food and coffee was made/served quickly, and was hot in temperature, too, which I appreciated. Cons: Customer service. Unfortunately, we did not feel comfortable here. Although some of the waitresses were kind and accommodating, the owner - who seemed to be friendly with almost everyone - was unfriendly to us. In fact, we felt like eating fast so we could leave sooner. Other things to share are that this place can get busy, so if you decide to come be mindful of the time you go; maybe call in check beforehand. Joes is always a great experience. Not fine dining - just great food. Plus they are patriotic which we love! Soft scrambled eggs with jalapeño for the win. So good and my daughter loved her grits. Service is excellent. We accidentally dropped half our English muffin on the floor. Tbis place was like sitting on your mom's table on Thanksgiving weekend having a nice breakfast and getting the feeling that everyone at the table cares about you! MOST DELICOUS PANCAKES ANYWHERE!!! I was looking for a diner, a quick and simple place for a solid breakfast. I've been to Silver Diner - they're fine, a bit pricey. I prefer non-chain restaurants. I landed on Joe's Cafe with solid reviews and prices I wasn't taken aback by. The open seating cafeteria looking restaurant was bustling on a Wednesday morning with regulars bellied up to the counter and groups of friends, families, and construction workers scattered around the rest of the room. I was quickly greeted and offered to sit anywhere - I chose the counter. A high counter with a vantage point to the entire restaurant and the behind the counter workings of the restaurant. The menu is simple and classic. Eggs, omletes, pancakes, waffles, with home fries, hash browns, or grits. It took me a while to decide if I wanted to stay classic with eggs, fries, meat, and toast or venture into trying a varied assortment of breakfast goods. I chose the latter - the "4 Deuces Breakfast Special:" two pancakes, two eggs, two strips of bacon, 2 sausage links or patties and I added a side of home fries and a coffee. Coffee beans were being ground as I sat at the counter and pots were being brewed continuously. I don't know what coffee they are using, but I certainly enjoyed four cups over a 30-45 minute span. Good Pick Joe! The pancakes arrived first and I added just a little Smucker's syrup to the top. A sweet cake with hints of vanilla and cinnamon made the pancakes absolutely THE BEST I have ever had. So good that they didn't need a sweet syrup. If I didn't have the rest of the breakfast coming, I would have ordered a second stack. The eggs were scrambled, the bacon done just enough, and the patties were pepperie and fatty. The basis we all look for in a basic diner breakfast. The home fries came out and were seasoned just enough and well done with crispy edges and soft potato centers. I added some salt and pepper to bring out more of the flavor, but they were good on their own. Two pancakes, two eggs, two strips of bacon, two sausage patties, home fries, and four cups of coffee cost approximately $15. Probably the best deal I have had in the last five years! What I haven't gone on about here...the service. Was there a waitress that took care of me? No. There were five staff members who checked on me, refilled my coffee, served my food, and thanked me for coming in as I walked out the door. THIS is the place I want to be a regular at. Good food, great service, and at a great price. I'll be back Joe...I'll be back! read more

Came here after a visit to the Steven Udvar-Hazy annex of the National Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport with our son and his 3 year-old son. Very much a diner vibe with great prices. Service is good, friendly and helpful. Food is simple and good. I had a Reuben sandwich, my wife had an open-faced turkey sandwich. Our son also had the Reuben. It was like taking a step back in time. Prices are so reasonable compared to what we spend in Los Angeles that I was tempted to order more stuff so I got a bowl of grits which were great. Surprisingly superb breakfast there every time! Wait staff is welcoming and efficient and they don't hover they just seem to appear out of nowhere. EVERYTHING is good. Even the coffee!and I'm picky. They close at 2pm- on the weekends this is perfect for still being able to snag a great breakfast at lunchtime. You might have to wait to get in during peak times but trust me, it's worth it. There's no true mom and pop breakfast restaurant in northern Virginia. Say what you want, but as someone from California and moved to Reston, it's been a huge bummer. The first thing I noticed was how many patrons said goodby to Joe Salem (the owner) and shook his hand. This is a big WE CARE ABOUT YOU LOVE FEST. They serve breakfast and lunch. So get there early. The prices are low, ... low ... low for our area. Joe told me he would rather make a small profit on large volume. It works. My Eggs Benedict at 12.99 was better than the $24 plate served at a resort or the one at the chain diner. PLUS, they cooked it to order. No salt. Yolk cooked. AND well done english muffin. The wait staff is friendly and attentive despite how busy they are. Normally this is not my kind of place. I do all the cooking and follow a very healthy diet. But you can get BROCCOLI as a side with your hamburger or (I'll bet) your egg platter. Breakfast and lunch are available any time from 7 am to 2 pm. (7 am to 3 pm Saturday and Sunday. Cheap greasy food. Tastes pretty good but it's just too much for me. Hopefully my stomach handles it well. Coffee is on the weaker side. Waiters are really fast and since my friend and I were sitting there for awhile they asked us to leave since they had a big line going on. But that's the reason the wait is not too long. Server came to our table twice. Once to drop of waters and take our order and once to bring our food. Never saw her again.
