I love these donuts. I've tried the jelly/fruit filled ones and then the regular plain glazed donut and they are all to die for. I always order it with a chocolate milk and I am in heaven. I don't even necessarily ever crave donuts, but these donuts are delicious. Waaaaay better than Vodoo Donuts. I'd much rather wait in line for these before a day of snowboarding then forever at Vodoo. A few times, I have driven up to Sandy just to get these donuts and didn't even head up to Hood that's how delicious they are. The staff is always friendly despite how busy they are. Thanks guys for making such yummy treats! They also offer a donut bouquet. I'd much rather get one of those than roses haha. :) read more

If I could I would give it a ZERO stars. A month ago I bought two breakfast burritos with my husband. One had rotten meat in it. The other one didn't smell too good either. We ended up having a food poisoning after having only a few bites. Not to mention there is a lot of dead flies in the light fixtures right above the pile of donuts for sale... I was two months pregnant at the time. I am thinking about suing you guys. It could have ended bad for my baby and sooner or later somebody will get really sick if you continue to keep the low standards. read more

Straight up I would give the donuts 5 stars. They were fresh tasting even in the afternoon, and so so good. The applesauce donut was nice and moist and the glazed old fashioned perfect. My husband loved the maple bacon bar, but said the bacon tasted like the frozen stuff. His custard filled was great. The staff on the other hand were rude and just grumpy. When we asked which donut one was it was like she was mad at us for bothering them. And then when I ordered my coffee (latte), she asked me how many shots I wanted, I asked her how many were in it normally and she grumpily said "there is no normal" - what is that supposed to mean? Honestly I would eat the donuts again but they need to give their staff a lecture or two about how to treat customers. read more

Worth the stop. Treat yourself to a donut on the way up the mountain. You can't go wrong with any of them but the Maple Bar and Cronut (croissant deep fried and topped with glaze) are two personal faves. Cheap, fast and not a place to hang out. Take them on the road. read more

My coworkers and I were on our way to a work site, and one of them told us that we need to stop at Joe's Donut Shop while we were out here. Prior to today, I never knew this place even existed. But now, I'll be forever wishing that Joe's was located in Portland. At first, I didn't understand what all the hoopla was about. Those in my group who tried this place out before were super excited, but I thought I'd just be getting an average donut, given the somewhat run down exterior of the place. Walking in, it was actually quite busy for being located in a relatively small town. There was a wonderful selection of donuts (and fritters) to pick from, but per the suggestion of the sweet lady who helped me, I tried a cronut. Oh my goodness. This donut-croissant hybrid was fantastic. It tasted extremely fresh and I could taste the chewiness of the donut with a slight crunch from the croissant bit. The glazing was rich and evenly coated every inch of my cronut. This was a heavier donut compared to some, but wow was it fantastic. Prices were cheap too; there were 8 in my group and we all got coffee and a donut for around $20 in total. This was such a delicious treat. I don't know when I'll be back here, but I can guarantee you that I'll be dreaming about this place until I'm able to come back. read more

Skeptical because it appears to be just another generic mom and pop donut shop and let's face it, not a lot separates the basic donut dives. But oh boy was I impressed. By far the best maple bar I have ever consumed! Perfect sweetness in the icing and the was so fluffy and soft! I've been stopping at Joe's for the past eighteen years on my way up to the mountain for a day of skiing. Not much has changed with Joe's, but that's a-okay because nothing needed to change. They've been perfect from the get go. You could quite literally pick any type of donut and be incredibly satisfied-- powdered, buttermilk, old fashioned, jelly filled, sprinkled, there are no duds!! One bite of the fluffy dough will have you convinced. You don't need gourmet donuts loaded with toppings-- you just need good ol' Joe's. read more

This is a mandatory stop whenever I'm heading up to the mountain. It doesn't look like much and it's not fancy, but you will not go away disappointed. Look for the obnoxiously painted red and white building on the south side of 26 and step through the door into carb overload heaven. There are lots of choices here, and you can't go wrong. However, every time I don't leave with an apple fritter I seriously regret it. So get whatever catches your eye, and back it up with a fritter (If the apple fritter catches your eye, get two. Seriously). Is there a downside? Nope. I mean, at least not for your first few visits. If you become a regular, well, you might want to look into getting a treadmill. These use to be my absolute fav I would bring them to my coworkers and everyone would RAV over their massive maple bars. Unfortunately they have changed their recipe or something I have re tried them three times and the maple bars are smaller with less glaze and not the way they use to be. Pretty good donuts, but a bit overpriced for a small "city" joint. I think they can charge what they do because people going to the mountain or coming back are pretty hungry. Admittedly, the donuts are delicious but I'm kind of bummed that I didn't get to try the maple bacon donut! Apparently they only make a couple and they go quickly. The old fashioned donuts have an amazing and delicious kind of crisp to them that makes them great. The maple bars are also fabulous, not to mention huge. I honestly expected the people working here to have an attitude problem, but I judged incorrectly. They were really friendly people and were helpful considering how busy it was. Since I've driven by Joe's and will continue to drive by more times than I could count, I suppose I'd go again but I don't know if it's actually worth waiting in a 20+ minute line. Can't believe I've never written a review for Joe's! These are honestly some of the best doughnuts I've ever had. Their fritters are incredible, the maple bars are incredible, it's all pretty much amazing. If ever you find yourself in Sandy, OR, do yourself a favor and stop at Joe's! SHORT VERSION: It lives up to the hype. The donuts are fresh and delicious, The coffee is fresh and hot! I had a Maple Bacon Bar, an Old Fashioned, and a Blueberry Fritter, and loved them all. LONG VERSION: My wife's grandfather was a regular here for decades pretty much all the way up until he died. He and his other WWII buddies would come in around 6 in the morning and have coffee for a couple hours. Myself, being from out of town, had images of what that may have looked like. Even though I've visited Oregon and Sandy several times over the past years, and the fact that this place has built up in my mind by my wife, I had never been to Joe's Donut Shop until last weekend. Some of the reviews I've seen write this place off as kitchy or common-place, but I'd like to say that its small-townish charm is completely authentic. And speaking as a non-local from a donut-savy town, they really are GREAT donuts! I tried a few, and none of them let me down! So, thanks Joe's Donut Shop for living up to the awesomeness which has been decried by so many. read more
