The shop was clean and well organized, we heard from an acquaintance that the donuts were fresh. After arriving we noticed the advisory that the vendor would be closed after all the donuts were sold. We arrived at 1:30 pm and noted the selection was somewhat limited. We ordered three donuts each and paid $3 each, price is a bit high. After consuming one donut, it was indeed fresh and moist. Not sure why these donuts are a bit higher than Krispy Crème donuts. Probably stay with Krispy crème due to distance from SalmonCreek. Once I called the gal from the back to assist me. I requested Decaf coffee? No. Cappuccino? No, We are out until,we get our order in. (Logical) Finally settled on a Hot Chocolate, because they had that. Then I turned around and realized there is no place to sit! When I asked about seating she said "most people just sit in their cars." Of course they do, there is no seating! I ordered a Lemon Poppyseed Old Fashioned and a French Toast (their version of a Maple Cinnamon Roll?). Love Old Fashions and Lemon Poppyseed muffins, this fusion missed on all counts. I've been in the shopping center a number of times in the evenings so they've been closed. I was so excited to be able to try Dots Donuts today! I had an apple fritter which simply melts in your mouth. It's big enough to share but today we ordered two because I was being selfish. It was the right decision. This thing is all for me. My friend got a lemon something or another and a coconut for his daughter. Mine were predictable- the raised cake was unremarkable. The frosting, however, stood out. Caramel flavor on point, and the strawberry tasted exactly right. And they were so pretty. These aren't your bougie $5.00/each donuts, either. A dozen for the office won't break your bank. I wish they could capture the delicious, yeasty, sweet smell that sweeps over you when you enter and sell it by the bottle! We had a wide assortment to choose from, although Apple Fritter and Raspberry Filled are my "go to" favorites. The maple bars are huge and covered with just the right amount of sugary sweet maple glaze/frosting. The apple fritter could easily satisfy two hungry tummies! The old fashioned are just what you'd expect and I'm looking forward to some brisk fall mornings spent dunking them into my hot beverage. Dot Donuts has a great business philosophy. They make all of their donuts fresh in the very early morning, and stay open until 2:00 p.m. or they all sell out, whichever comes first. They usually make 30 varieties each day. Their "filled" donuts are a great take...there is an indentation (think of what a biyali looks like) into which they put their fillings. This makes them easier to eat, and makes it far easier to identify which donuts are filled with what. Be sure to try the coconut cream filled variety. It is REALLY good! The donuts themselves are big, and the flavors are REALLY good! Their plain raised glazed is outstanding, one of the best I've ever had. I visited for the first time a little over a week ago. I drive by every week when I pick up my groceries so I thought I'd give them a try. I picked up a variety of different kinds and flavors for my partner and I to try. The folks that worked there were very friendly and generally helpful so I wish I could give them a higher rating. I need to start by saying I've eaten a lot of donuts. A LOT of donuts. From Voodoo Donuts in downtown PDX, all over the northwest. None of them were as good as these were. I got there at about 6:00am this morning and there were 5 people ahead of me. It gave me time to look around and get a better feel for the place. This was hands-down the cleanest donut shop I've been in. Well-lit, with friendly, quick, and efficient staff. By the time I finished take the store in at-a-glance, the lady in charge was asking what she could get started for me. I asked for two dozen donuts for a meeting that morning, and within mere MOMENTS, the staff had assembled the two assorted boxes in a flurry of efficiency. I paid with no hidden fees. I've only been at fairly early hours (7ish am) so there's always been plenty of options, but there is a heads up that they close "when the donuts are gone!" so be sure to get there early! They've got their staple flavors, then do special flavors-- not sure if it's weekly, monthly, seasonal or what, but it's a good selection! If $17.95 a dozen sounds steep, remember that you're paying for quality-- and these guys do a bakers dozen, so you get 13 Oh! And the employees have never been anything but really nice, helpful and patient which is wonderful, especially at early hours! Some are a bit creative like the cotton-candy glazed donut and some are epic in flavor & size, like their filled "eruption" donuts. I bought the box of assorted donuts for $18. I picked out my donuts hoping everyone other than me would eat them all and I'd have no basis for this review, but maybe people are increasingly living more healthy? That's the dream of this public health pro, but donuts and cookies and brownies still entice me! Apparently more so than others. Anyway, let's just say I got to try several different donuts, and the cake and cream filled are the best (versus simply iced). They are still west coast donuts (yeah, yeah...), but let's just say one basic improvement they could make is to sugar up the bottom half of the donuts. I found all of the donuts to be lacking flavor once away from the icing or cream. But the doughy part of the donut should be more than a carrier for the icing or cream; it should be able to stand on its own. Unfortunately, given the calories and an undecided answer to the question that my rational mind has before sugar takes it hostage -- "Is it worth it?" -- these calorie splurges need some work. More sugar! Did I say I worked in public health?! Still, more sugar. 'Cause if you're gonna eat it, make it worth it.
