Quick stop before our hike on Saturday! We are staying in the airBnB near Sandy and found the famous donut shop in town, Joe's donut There was a line when we got there Saturday morning but they were quick to serve so we didn't really have to wait for a long time. Our whole family enjoyed their donuts and especially kids loved it! I liked how they decorated outside and inside! Everyone in town knows where Joe's donut is located.

Favorite donut place in the greater Portland area by FAR. Let me tell you... I'm like Homer Simpson. If there's a donut to be had, I've had it. I've judged it. Joe's always delivers. Highly recommend the blueberry fritter, glazed pershing, or any of the jelly filled. If you've considered coming here enough to look it up on yelp, just go. You won't regret it! (the T-shirts are phenomenal too)

My family and I love joes donuts. We stop by here pretty frequently throughout the month. They have a very nice set of employees, I always enjoy socializing with them they always are super kind. There is seat inside and outside for your needs. As well as plenty of places to walk to after a stop at joes take your donut for a stroll and enjoy the city of Sandy. Thank you joes we always appreciate the service and intention put into your business !!! The donuts being very affordable for a ton of them is just a bonus !

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews of this place, but had to check it out for myself on my way to Mount Hood. My husband and I got an apple fritter, cronut, maple bar, and cinnamon twist. The donuts tasted fine (apple fritter had the best flavor) but all of the donuts were extremely doughy and undercooked. Like when you bit into it, the donut just flattened into nothing. Unfortunate because I feel like they have potential to be really good if they just worked on their baking. Probably won't be back anytime soon, but if you're on your way to the mountain and in need of some cheap donuts, they'll do the job.

Delish!! There is a good variety of donuts to choose from, even cronuts! The service is very quick and polite. I ordered and got everything bagged up in less than 5 minutes, even with the afternoon rush line outside the door. This is a cute quiet mom and pop shop. The parking is small so be prepared to walk. :)

It's a Sandy area must go! Small little shop doing what they do best, donuts. The simple cake donut was not my favorite I have had, yet the fritters are high in my list. Try the blueberry- you will thank me later. Looking forward to trying more when in the area.

We stopped in today on our way Sunriver. They close at 5:00 and we got there at 4:52! The guy working there, possibly the owner, was super friendly. It's a really cute place and the donuts are phenomenal! We will definitely be by on our way home. ,

They're good donuts! And cheap too. I think what I appreciate most about Joe's is the "small town" store feel: it's got a unique look, they've been around for decades, employees are friendly without being over the top, they're fair about prices, they decorate for every holiday, etc. Pull off the road as you pass through Sandy, you probably won't regret one of these sweet treats to fuel you up before or after your Mt Hood activities.

The locals and frequent travelers to Mt. Hood love this doughnut shop. There is always a line out the door. Lots of campers buy the doughnuts by the dozens, choosing several varieties. Prices are far better than those fancy doughnut shops in Portland. These are your basic doughnuts - cake and yeast - both are delicious. I got the Boston Cream, but I think they call it something different. It's a yeast doughnut with vanilla cream inside and the top is dipped in dark chocolate. It is very sweet so definitely get a cup of coffee to cut the richness. I prefer the basic cake doughnut. Either the plain, cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. They are small, half the size of the others, but they are dense and filling. Look for the red and white checkerboard building as you drive through Sandy heading up to Mt. Hood.

First time here! Ambiance- it's definitely an older store front. There's I believe a couple tables and some chairs. Atmosphere- it's a little hole in the wall, the staff are friendly and they seem to work pretty hard to put our fast and friendly service to customers. They're also just super sweet! The gal that helped us was nice! Price- it's pretty decent. They have an assortment of donuts to pick from, soda to drink, milk with other flavored milk. I tried their maple bar- it was so good! It had a great ratio of sweet and savory. The gal had just put fresh maple frosting on it so I literally ate the whole donut while getting into the car- it was that good. Joe's has the Best "Simple" doughnuts I have ever tasted. They don't try to over complication the doughnut and are masters at creating a delicious tasting doughnut with out all the gimmicks. Dont Waste your time with the "Pink Boxes" place All you get is stale cereal stuck on crappy tasting doughnuts that make you wish you had just went to Joe's in Sandy. Joe's Is number 1 in places to stop when traveling to Sandy. If there is a line rest assured that it WILL be worth the wait. read more

Wow! This was a great find on our way to the mountain from Portland. They had a huge variety of beautiful frosted sweet sticky delectables here, including their version of the cronut - it was awesome! Donuts are very good but was very disappointed with the customer service there. We had not been here for years. We decided to take a morning drive for a sweet breakfast treat and was approach rudely. Reeked so strongly of bleach, my eyes and nose stung. The cashier wouldn't let us buy a dozen for the price break because she claimed "she was out of certain kinds" even though it was in the AM. The donuts looked and tasted mediocre at best. And the place was stuffed to the gills with morbidly obese mouth breathers and ultra-conservatives who gawked at the sailor tattoos on my arms. Felt like I was in a David Lynch movie. read more

Safeway makes better donuts. The old fashioned donut was super dry and the glazed was super cold....and lathered in glaze. I needed a stiff coffee to wash it down and forget the pain. read more

Dear Joe's, I miss you! I don't know how I neglected to come visit more often when I lived in the Portland area!!! If Joe's mailed out fresh donuts I would be their biggest customer based off my consumtion of maple bars and french cruellers alone. Fortunately, they don't mail donuts and therefore, I don't have to constantly run up and down the hills of San Francisco to make up for it. read more

Visited Oregon for my first time last month and was excited to try VooDoo and Blue Star donuts... let me STOP you before you waste your time and money! Both are highly overrated and overhyped! Thankfully a local told us about Joe's and OMG donut heaven! Frosting was perfect not overly sweet and the cake part of donut tasted like a donut with lots of flavor! I especially love the Marionberry? One :) This is THE donut spot top go to in Oregon! Trust me and the locals lol read more

Best donuts period. Voodoo, Blue Star, Krispy Kreme, not even in the same league. Used to go here as a kid with my dad and have recently rekindled the love affair. So incredibly delicious! I've had the glazed old fashioned & maple Pershing/peanut. I was afraid they wouldn't be open by the time I made it or that they wouldn't be as good for sitting out all day...they were open & tasted super fresh. Cherry fritter and a cup of good coffee (Portland Roasting Dark Sumatra). Great start to a day hiking around Trillium Lake and Mt Hood. This place is old and kind of beat up in a good way. But the donuts are top notch. Low price compared to the over priced Portland donuts. And better tasting and fresher. Service is friendly if a little slow when crowded. But that's mostly on weekends. If I'm going through Sandy it's an automatic stop. read more

Best doughnuts (or donut) on the planet!! The line is long but worth the wait! I love walking up to Joe's on Saturday mornings to get a delicious doughnut then walk across the street to Mountain Moka for a yummy latte or whatever fun drink of the month they are featuring. My favorite part about Joe's - the school cafeteria meets 50's decor inside, I love that its a favorite destination of mountain goers, and that the bulletin board inside is filled with local events and activities. read more

ATMOSPHERE: It's a dive. Cluttered, shabby. But that's fine, I knew it would be. SERVICE: Friendly, good attitudes. FOOD: Most recently, I've had pumpkin/rum and applesauce. Moist, dense but tender, good taste. Really oily, but not to the point of being disgusting. Overall, quite tasty. Coffee was weak. I dumped in some creamer to give it a little flavor. PRICE/VALUE: Wow. Two smallish (but not tiny) donuts and a coffee for $2.85 I think. Not the cheapest, not the best, but possibly the best value you'll find in a donut shop. read more

Impossible to eat, had no berry flavor, and was just really dry and stale. It was so bad that I almost wanted to go back in and alert them of the quality issue in case it was put out by mistake. The shoppe is so cute, it's super tempting to pop in on your way to mt hood or bend, but it was so disappointing, I recommend skipping.

The chicken pot pie for me was missing vegetables. They were a little slivers and Bitz here and there, but for the most part, it was chicken soup in a crust. The tots were fresh and hot very very tasty. In fact, I threw some tots into my chicken pot pie and it was amazing. A whole new dimension. My server was great, so friendly and welcoming.

The worst was the triple berry blitz (?) bar. It was some sort of cake that was hard like a dry shortbread and had a thick layer of extremely sweet frosting that was so dry, we weren't sure if it was chocolate, but it had no snap or anything, so perhaps it was chocolate, poorly executed. Impossible to eat, had no berry flavor, and was just really dry and stale. It was so bad that I almost wanted to go back in and alert them of the quality issue in case it was put out by mistake. The shoppe is so cute, it's super tempting to pop in on your way to mt hood or bend, but it was so disappointing, I recommend skipping.

Joes donuts is probably the best kept secret in sandy. Well who we kiddin, it's no secret to anyone that seeks out some of the best donuts anywhere. I would easily put a joes maple bar against a silly krispy kreme, a dunkin', or any other donut shop. Definitely a must. Amazingly tasty and big donuts. If you want trendy and don't care about taste or quality go to Voodoo donuts which is some of the most over rated crap in Portland. If awesome taste is important to you its worth making the trip to Joe's in Sandy. read more
