Simply put: Joe's makes the best donuts. Period. I've never had a better donut (apple fritter, cake, jelly filled, original, bear claw, etc) anywhere else. They are heavy and dense, so if you prefer light and fluffy ones similar to the hot glazed from Krispy Kreme, look elsewhere. But, if you're like me and think that real donuts have some "umph," look no further! You've reached donut heaven! :-D And on top of that, if you get there before they sell out, they offer an outstanding sausage breakfast burrito. Personally, my favorite on the west coast. I've noticed that other reviewers have criticized the staff for being cold, slightly rude, and acting as if you're inconveniencing them by buying their donuts. And you know what, those reviewers are right! But, that doesn't change the fact that Joe's Donuts simply makes the best donuts ever. They're so good, and (to me) the staff is part of the experience--part of what makes "Joe's" "Joe's". Joe's!!!! This is why I go camping.....I can never pass up this little red checked gem on the way to the mountain. The maple bars...real maple frosting, not like artificial flavor at Safeway, etc...the custard filled chocolate frosting, the round one....has so much homemade custard it plops out as you try to eat it. They are sublime....The simple cinnamon cake donuts and the buttermilk bars! Never a "donut person" before being introduced to Joes 12 years ago. Not just 5 stars for their Sandy location but 10. We are treated to Joe's donuts at the Arrow Coffee Shop in Damascus; treated = having for purchase. The quality is far superior to others donuts available locally, and perhaps, only closely matched sort-of by Donut World in Gresham (where I drive to just for their donuts when Arrow doesn't have on Saturdays and Sundays). Frankly, I wish they'd open a store in Damascus. In fact, being a city councilor, I would like them to consider opening a store here in Damascus. You are missing out on a DONUT TREAT if you haven't tried Joe's in Sandy. I like the Glazed Old Fashion, Maple Bars and Fritters the best, BUT ALL GOOD ! read more

Joe's us great! It's always busy, always! Staff is friendly. Joe's parking is small, you stand in line , lots of out of town people on their way to the mountain but some of the best doughnuts in the Portland area. I've eaten doughnuts from so many different places. Well Portland thinks it's lucky for voodoo doughnuts. They're sorely missing out of they think those are good. I must have drove past Joe's one-hundred times plus - mostly because back in the day, I was Hood-bound via Salem, racing for the early fresh tracks. Now that I live on the outskirts of Sandy, I finally set foot inside the hallowed, checkered donut kingdom. What did I find? Not what I expected. I figured them to be your average, Winchell's-like cakey donut factory. Not! On this day, I found a custom-created Pumpkin Rum cake donut, chock full of enough rum to give you that 'just did a shot" aftertaste. This is a good thing. It did not get in the way of the yummy pumpkin goodness, instead, complimented it. Was also pleased to find a fine assortment of scones, as well as all the donut standards us ugly Americans have grown to love. Stop here. Buy donuts. Praise Homer Simpson. read more

I've driven by Joe's Donut Shop since 1995 and finally stopped in for the first time. Best Maple Bar I've ever eaten. Old Fashioned Glazed was great. Plain Cake was moist and delicious. Raised Glazed melted in my mouth. The donuts were cheap. I was helped at the counter with no problem or attitude. I will never pass Joe's again! read more

I am a Flight Attendant and have had my share of donuts around the states! Joes over VooDoo ANYDAY!! Voodoo is cool cause the way they box their donuts and name them. The donuts are great! They're soft and so yummy! The cronuts are to die for! I think the shop is adorable. It would have been 5 stars if the "customer service" we received from the girl behind the counter would have been good. She didn't even pretend to be nice. This has happened every time we've went in so I won't be back. To me customer service is the most important part of my visit.
