We love Joe's and visit the locations in Edwardsville, Godfrey, and Troy. Went to the Troy location with the family after a baseball game. From the start things were off. Took a while to be seated although only 3 tables were occupied. Our server who said he was new was overwhelmed from the start, getting drinks for six, taking our orders and double and triple checking. 25 minutes later he came out to say they were out of iceberg was romaine ok. 5 minutes later (30 minutes!) he told my husband they had no lasagna. It took him six trips to get our food out when it was finally ready. It was a mess! Guess we will stick to the other better-run locations. Food was good as usual but service ruined it. Meatballs were either freezer burnt or something. They were dark inside and I couldn't cut them. I didn't get the applesauce or drink with the kids meal. Also didn't get any parm cheese. My Italian American family and I come here any chance we get. My grandfather literally orders something different on the menu every time and always leaves satisfied. I, personally, get the gluten free pizza, which is very good! The service is normally prompt and everyone has always been nice. Also, we have never encountered any problems with cleanliness. Let's start with the service. I don't care what time, what day, it's always going to be great. We come on the regular now and look for a waitress by the name of Tabitha. My partner and I routinely ask for her and it NEVER disappoints. She is collected, attentive, and the girl doesn't stop. Pour a beer, grab refills, talk to the babies, help out a co worker, answer the phone... non stop busy bee. The pizza is great and the cauliflower crust is totally worth the try. The sauce is sweeter and compliments any topping. Pasta comes out of the oven PIPING hot and if you do t eat it all, it's nothing less than a righteous leftover for work. Unfortunately I am being forced to leave this review of which I will be candid, clear, and tough on this business. We are frequent patrons to this establishment, often Saturday afternoons for a ball game to which we dine in and have salads, wings, and pizza. On this occasion, of which was shockingly appalling on numerous levels of restaurant experience (bill pre tip $103). We started with some salads and wings (both of which were fine) - but we ordered a pizza with "extra sauce" (below is attached our extra sauce photo of a slice) if you are confused, you should be, because there is no sauce. We informed the waitress immediately of the issue, but as courteous customers we are never demanding or rude and simply asked for a side of sauce. The problem with this, is the pizza jsut wasn't the same. It was literally no sauce, no taste, and most importantly - not even close to worth the premium they are charging. I forgot to mention, when we asked for extra sauce, the poor waitress went back to ask the kitchen, and we could literally hear the waitress and the kitchen arguing. I will quote the highlight "I am not an idiot!" At the end of the meal we overall gave our displeasure, and even requested the manager. To which the "manager" never came out. I hate giving a review like this - but the experience, cost, quality level was shockingly egregious and overwhelmingly awful. I'd say the worst part was lack of professionalism from the manager. Waited over an hour for pizza. The server claimed the kitchen messed up and never made the pizza after waiting one hour. We left without ever getting the pizza. Ordered a large salad, but did not get enough for two people and was charged extra for a 2nd salad dressing (word to mgmt: should not be charging extra for a skimpy salad dressing for a large salad). the pasta was very good - my husband had the meat sauce = I tasted it and really thought the flavor was great. I had the marinara sauce that was good but had a spicy aftertaste . our waitress was just awesome = very friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. the atmosphere was so nice, not noisy and you could actually have a conversation with your companion. read more

The Troy location has gone down hill. Service is horrible. 45 minutes after placing my order they called and said that their delivery driver wasn't even there yet. It would be another 30 minutes. Was in for lunch with my friends and thought we had a decent meal. I took my husband there a couple days later. They showed a lunch pizza special for $8.49 on their menus board in the restaurant . When the bill came we were charged $8.99. We asked the waitress and she went for a menu and it showed a price of $8.99. Asked to be charged the lesser price as that is what they have displayed in their restaurant and she said couldn't. Asked for manager and young man came over and showed him the issue. He argued there was a price increase. We explained that it was advertised for the lessor price and if there was an increase the board should have also been changed. Basically he said no and walked away. So every person that orders that special is getting overcharged and that .50 cents per Order adds up. Well to say Im disappointed would not even describe the experience I had with the food at Joes Pizza. The garlic bread was hard as a rock...it smelled good but we could not bite into it. I've eaten there twice and won't return. It's ok but just that. Ok. I bought regular crust first and upon a later visit Chicago style. The pizza crust was ok on the regular not bad like Peels but nothing special. I just didn't like the sauce. The Chicago style crust was done on the top and bottom but real doughy under the cheese. Terrible experience here tonight . Understandably busy on a Friday night we sat there for at last 10 minutes with no service. I have zero issue with slow service when restaurants are busy . But when your table gets no attention and tables are seated and served , after coming in well after us, really disappointing in a location that has approximately 15 tables total. Equally disappointing was the manager response . He said OK when I shared my frustration. All the servers were also standing at the cash register area , seemed more interested in hanging out vs taking care of customers. My daughter and I wanted to try something different and we decided to go with with Joe's We were suprised at how clean this place was. The server and service was great. We ordered Pizza and pasta with meatballs and salad. My daughter ordered fettuccine with chicken and salad. Soda and tea. Unlike some places that serve Pizza and pasta the pizza was completely cut in pieces. The pasta plates were cleaned with nothing spattered on the plate rims. We did not have to rush eating the pizza or salads. The sever asked if we were ready for our pasta before just bringing it out. It is not a large dining room but very casual for groups. They have a Bar with TV's and you can see a TV from almost all tables and booths. I didn't have any beer or mixed cocktails so I can't comment on that. They have all you can eat spaghetti on Wednesdays, with salad, breadsticks, and drink included. It's cheap but filling and SO good. The House dressing tastes just like Olive Garden. I placed an order for pick-up last night and arrived at the store before it was ready. Had I not already paid for the order I would have walked out of the store after watching how things were done in kitchen. Not one of the preparers were wearing sanitary gloves. Bare hands were reaching into various containers and plating salads, salad toppings, pizza toppings, etc. my meal came with a salad but I didn't eat it when I got home as all I could see was the young man reaching into the container barehanded and grabbing a handful of damp lettuce and putting it in the container. Not a local but had a doctor's appointment in the area and my 4 year old wanted pizza for lunch. Ordered a small pepperoni pizza and mozzarella sticks. The sticks came out fast and they were pretty impressive. They didn't taste like typical frozen sticks. The pizza was good too, it wasn't the best but it wasn't bad either. Saw their site on Facebook and thought we'd give it a try based on FB reviews. It DID NOT disappoint! The small garden salad, with Greek dressing, was enough for two to share. We chose the medium Greek pizza (Mushroom, Black Olives, Spinach, Red Onion, Feta Cheese, Olive Oil, Fresh Garlic). The thin crust was the right texture -- hate a floppy slice -- and held all the ingredients on -- nothing worse than watching all the toppings slide off onto the plate!! For two people, it was right on the money and carried the flavor that a Greek-style pie should have.
