    Come on in & enjoy!!

I picked up Mungo's to go during the last hour of the 2024 Italian Fest. They were starting to shut down their tent, but went out of their way to prep & wrap up 3 lasagnas for G, M, and me. The service was PHENOMENAL! Each little pan was wrapped in cellophane, so the orders traveled very well with any minor seepage contained within the cellophane. And the food......also PHENOMENAL! I LUV cheesy, creamy lasagna & it absolutely did not disappoint! Also, the meat(s?) and sauce did not give any of us "of age" folks heartburn. I'm not sure why G & M hadn't been there before, but we'll definitely be dining there again in the future.

Scallops, side of pasta with garlic sauce, and red sangria. My favorite meal!!!

The food at Mungo's is outstanding. It's a highly convenient restaurant to go to when you want delicious Italian food and don't want to drive all the way to St. Louis, MO if you live over here in Illinois. Everything I have had at Mungo's has been perfect. The sangria, house salad, pasta con broccoli, scallops, toasted ravioli, bruschetta, cheesecake... every single thing is made to perfection. It's a nice dinner spot in Collinsville. I'm glad they are here!

I had the absolute best time at Mungos for my husband's birthday dinner. The service was amazing. The bread they start you off with is to die for. The menu is huge so there is so much to decide on but I love options. I love the atmosphere, it's very cozy. My husband and I got Moscow mules, they were delish. The pasta portions are large so you willl most likely have leftovers. Our server was so sweet and brought out a dessert for my husband with a candle!

Linguini with white clam sauce, Manhattan with their own special twist, crusty sesame seeded bread...all so tasty!

Dinner with friends and family on a Sunday evening! Everyone walked away full and happy! Staff were excellent and perfectly attentive- the Manhattan is perfect, bread is warm and crusty, and all dishes were served exactly as ordered! Be sure to stop in for a delicious Italian meal for a very fair price!

We first heard of Mungo's during our visit to the Italian fest in Collinsville. I got their lasagna, and it was the best I've ever had. The provel cheese, and their delicious marinara sauce makes for the perfect lasagna! I knew we had to come and try it in person. We celebrated a birthday tonight, the 5 of us came and had an amazing dinner, and we had an awesome server named Anwer. He made sure every step went perfectly, our bar drinks and appetizers came out expeditiously, and dinner was right on time! All of our food was amazing, but the lasagna and spaghetti with meat sauce are the best of both I've ever had! And I come from an Italian family so that's saying a lot because I thought my grandma made the best spaghetti. They have carrots in theirs which I'm not mad at, it's different, but yummy! My husband said his chicken Tony was absolutely amazing and tender, and he's a pretty big chicken critic! Also, my baby dropped her bottle and the man behind the bar was kind enough to pick it up and rinse it off with hot water. I thought that was very kind and the extra mile. Overall the restaurant was very nice inside, the bathrooms were very clean, they did have a smell to them, I think they need some air fresheners in there because they are clean aside from that. We can't wait to come back! Thanks for an awesome dinner Mungos!

So it's been a while since we've been to this place. Tonight was something special! I had chicken Tony, which is a fabulous pan, seared chicken breast, covered in mushrooms and a cheese cream sauce. It was amazing. The side salad it comes with was extraordinarily flavorful as well. Nice blend of Italian dressing and cheeses. For dessert, I had cheesecake which was fluffy and decadent. It was rich with flavor. I recommend giving this place a shot. It's nice to have such a good Italian restaurant on the side of the river.

They have salads, breadsticks and pesto, Linguine marinara (Thin flat noodles in red tomato marinara sauce) And margherita pizza (tomato, cheese and basil) just hold the cheese and you have a tomato basil pizza.

There was ice filled to the top to give an illusion of a full drink, but it was obviously not full. After being seated outside, I ordered a red Sangria. It was sweet, tart, and the perfect drink to go with the Dylan Pizza. The pizza was incredible and Neapolitan-style. It was smooth and the combination of flavors worked well. I loved the honey and caramelized onions, but the olive oil base made the pizza a little soggy over time. The service here was a bit underwhelming. After being sat outside, the servers switched, and we didn't get taken care of until it was near closing time. However, the patio and pizza were stars of the show, and definitely have me wanting to come back.

That's the vibe. We started on the front patio on a Friday night and quickly realized we'd made a mistake. The doors to the interior were open and the music -- a rock-forward playlist that night -- was loud enough that we considered bailing. Our server, was unbothered when we asked to move up to the rooftop. Where we met with a new bartender and server, London, who rolled with it, got us resettled, and from that point on the night was great. London was clearly handling the bar and most of the rooftop tables, but she was attentive throughout, and made eye contact, which seems a near miracle from many 20-something these days. Bumping the score up just for the flexibility on the table move alone. The food: crab cakes were genuinely good, not life-changing, but well above the weak-crab-cake bar that exists in most of the world, served simply with capers and a small salad. I went off-script and ordered the wagyu burger medium rare with fontina (London mentioned cheddar is the more common pick, but the Fontina offerd a great alternative). The burger was deeply flavorful and cooked exactly right, but here's my one real note for the kitchen: toast the brioche bun. Wagyu medium-rare puts out a lot of juice, and an untoasted bun loses its structural integrity about three bites in. A quick toast would let the bun keep some additional integrate and keep up with the perfectly cooked beef. The pom buff were great, the best elevated patato tots you may come by. Beyond what we ordered, the Greek salad is a longtime go-to -- chopped, with grape leaves and pita, available in a small or large, and easily dressed up into a light meal with or without adding some protein or can be share as a self-dress bruschetta appetizer for the group if you ask for extra bread. The cheese boards are also a reliable pick. The wine list is extensive (it's a wine bar, after all), but they don't sniff at cocktails -- I had a solid fine old fashioned, and my wife shared had a Malbec that paired well with everything. Lots of gluten-free options across the menu, too. What Sasha's gets right is that it has refused to become precious. "Wine bar" reads as pretentious to some people, but this place runs as a neighborhood spot. You'll see college kids dressed way down, couples on dates dressed way up, Hawaiian shirts, oversized sweaters, the full range. It's the kind of place where you can split a bottle with your girlfriends, meet a date for drinks and a quick bite without committing to a full dinner, or roll in for brunch on the weekend. Different times of day, different vibes -- always approachable. 4.7 stars. Loses a few tenths for the front-patio music situation and the weak burger bun, but more than makes up for it on flexibility, food, and overall hang factor.

After explaining we'd just be there briefly for a drink, we were allowed to sit there, but the interaction felt dismissive. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. We were pushed to order quickly, our menus were taken right away, and the check came almost immediately. It made what should have been a relaxed stop feel uncomfortable and transactional. I understand how busy restaurants can get, especially on nice days, but a little more consideration and courtesy would have gone a long way.
