No lines at this Joe's, but also just not as fresh. Of course, I visit during a time that Raising Cane has its great grand opening, which does distract and divert the queues across the street! Ate hot cheese there, toted that box of slices to the UP!

Perfect for NY pizza craving. It was around 8 pm on Friday evening so it was a bit crowded. However the service was pretty quick. There were tables both inside and outside. We liked the extra spices and flavoring that they had available at the tables. We ordered 4 slices, 2 cheese, Sicilian and veggie. They were all very good but we preferred the cheese. The Sicilian was a little too thick for our preference.

best pizza in AA, hands down. Tried them in NYC and was excited to see they're in U of M AA. Kudos to whoever paid / bought their franchise to open there.

I came here after reading tons of great reviews and several people telling me to come, so I had high expectations. I stopped by around 1am and grabbed a couple slices with a girlfriend. The pizza was classic New York style and by the slice, it tasted pretty fresh, it was hot, fast, and definitely hit the spot for a late-night bite. It was very very busy too so be prepared to wait. That said, it wasn't really my style. The slice was gone in about a minute because it was so thin (and I know that's how NY style is) and while it wasn't bad by any means, it didn't blow me away either. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get it during normal hours, but it's worth it if you're nearby and it's late!

    Pie arrived all messed up.

I won't be back. I've ordered delivery and visited in person many times. It's nothing incredible but I love NY style pizza. Crisp thin crust. Delivery in the past from Joes has been great. Today I waited over an hour and a half for two pies, both of which arrived soggy and cold with messed up crust. I called twice to check on delivery, was told they were short staffed, was told they'd call back, was never apologized to or treated kindly. Delivery driver arrived and did not say sorry or anything, despite being pre-slated a $12 tip when I checked out. So not only did I tip for crap service, I paid over $80 for crappy pizza. That price & experience might be ok for others w more cash to burn. It's not ok for me. Joes was a treat for us and now I won't be back.

A great pizza option near U of M campus! This shop has single slices for sale but be aware there's a $5 minimum for cards, if you only plan on getting one slice bring cash. There's a few tables inside and public restrooms. The service was quick. I got 2 slices a classic cheese and the Zingerman's cheese only available in AA. The cheese was okay but the Zingerman's cheese was fantastic! It has a sweeter flavor to it that I've never had before on pizza, would recommend trying it. If you like NY style pizza this spot is for you.

Ordered a whole pie (pepperoni, sausage, red onion) and a few slices while we waited. Everything tasted great. Not sure why, but the freshly heated slices ended up being so much more crunchy and tastier than the whole pie. They have shakers of pepper seeds, oregano, and garlic powder (warning... it looks like Parmesan). Service was very friendly and quick. Only a few tables and area along wall to eat. We went around 3pm so didn't have to worry about a lunch or dinner rush. We were able to grab a table and some of the extra seats along the wall to eat. It was on the pricey side... We had 4 premade slices (2 cheese, 2 pepperoni) and a full 3 topping pie and our bill was ~$55.

Joe's in Ann Arbor of all places

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw Joe's of NYC has an Ann Arbor location. Sometimes these 'franchises' work out like Regina's of Boston. So I gave it a try and it was excellent. The pizza isn't quite the same as Joe's in Greenwich but really really close. The delivery and online ordering were much easier to use than going to NYC. If you're a fan of NYC style pizza this a must try.

This place was sooo good! Honestly, I had never heard for Joe's or knew about this place but my husband had it on his food bucket list and it was so worth the drive. Well actually, I had heard of it and did not know it, I guess it was featured in Spiderman 2 which I have seen several times but did not know this was the place until I finished my meal and asked/ saw the pictures on the wall. This is a fun "hole-in-the-wall" experience with a few tables and large pies on display to order. We tried quite a few. The service was good and I love that they allow you to custom order, so we got a couple white with spinach, the mozzarella with tomato and one with sausage. A fresh mozzarella, and pepperoni and a cheese. It was all good, I love the large New York thin slices. The kids both loved it, and the one child who doesn't like pizza as much loved and would totally go back, so it must be good. We had so much fun eating and taking pictures. I will definitely be back. My goal would be to order a couple whole pizzas to take home to warm and try the Zingerman's ranch, that looks so good. I did not think to try it at the time, but I did like the garlic, red pepper flakes, and oregano at the tables. I combined all of them to dip the crust, so good! What a fun experience. While I have been to New York a couple times, I do not remember getting any pizza to compare this location but I enjoyed it.

Which is better the Cheese Pie or the Zingermans Moz Pie?

Hi, it’s personal preference. I recommend sampling both. Our cheese is our classic. Same recipe for nearly 50 years now. Our Zingerman’s fresh Mozz is very unique, and can only be had at our location in Ann Arbor.

Finished with toasted pine nuts. The flavors were very good, fresh, rich and creamy. Portion was generous. I had the Chicken Parmesan: pan fried chicken breasts, mozzarella cheese served with angel hair pasta. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful as was the angel hair pasta. Disappointing Experience - Reservation Was Not Honored…read more I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this restaurant, particularly because this was supposed to be a special evening celebrating my company's 7-year anniversary. I made our reservation one week in advance for a party of 10 and specifically requested the Wine Room. I was told by the hostess that the Wine Room was available, and I provided my credit card information to secure the reservation. Based on that confirmation, I made plans for our company celebration around having a private space. When we arrived on September 9, we were told that the Wine Room was already reserved and had apparently been booked for over two months. Instead, our party of 10 was seated in the regular dining room. The fact that the Wine Room was supposedly reserved for more than two months makes it especially frustrating that our reservation request was confirmed just one week before our event. If the room was not actually available, we should have been told that when we made the reservation--not when we arrived for our special event. What made the situation even more disappointing was the response from the manager. There was no offer of any accommodation, discount, complimentary drinks, or other gesture to acknowledge the mistake. The apology was minimal, and the only explanation we received was that she would speak with the employee who took our reservation because the reservation had not been handled correctly. This was not simply a matter of preferring one dining area over another. We specifically requested the Wine Room because our CEO had an important company announcement to make, which required a level of privacy and an appropriate setting that simply wasn't possible in the middle of a busy public dining room. We also wanted our employees and partners to be able to enjoy and celebrate together without the noise and lack of privacy of the main dining area. Unfortunately, what should have been a memorable celebration of our company's 7-year anniversary was overshadowed by the restaurant's failure to honor the reservation we were promised and the lack of meaningful effort to make the situation right. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles a mistake matters just as much. Given that this was a planned company event with employees and business partners, I expected much better communication and customer service from both the staff and management. Very disappointing experience, especially for what was supposed to be a special occasion.

My first visit was for brunch, and it completely won me over. I came back for lunch excited to experience it again, and while the staff was just as warm and the environment just as great, however, this time the lunch menu didn't quite live up to my expectations. They offer salads, sandwiches, mac and cheese and similar American-style comfort food, which is totally fine, but for a restaurant of this caliber I was hoping for something a little more exciting. I ended up ordering a salad with added shrimp, which was absolutely delicious, and a pomegranate rosemary lemonade that was incredibly refreshing - perfect for a summer day-. But if you're not in the mood for sandwiches, salads, or mac and cheese, your options are pretty limited. My suggestion: keep doing everything you're doing because the hospitality and atmosphere are truly special, but consider expanding the lunch and dinner menu for those looking for a heartier or more diverse meal.
