This is the best pizza in town. It's NY style pizza but I'd say it reminds me of pizza in Italy. The crust is perfect. Tastes yummy, like the flavorful crust of a good homemade bread. I love the pizza sauce - tastes like tomatoes and it's not too salty. Simple and absolutely refreshing. It's the basics that they do just so well. read more

Disclaimer: michigan had no mask mandates when this occurred. Went in to get pizza after work was told I couldn't order without a mask. When I looked around no one was wearing a mask at the tables. When I asked why I had to wear a mask to order but no one in the exact same proximity (no 6 foot distancing) sitting at the same height I was standing , had to wear a mask I was told "it's because they are eating" I asked to sit and order they told me no they would not take my order at a table. The point is there is no logic or reason behind forcing people to wear a mask while allowing indoor eating in a space where you cannot be farther than 3 feet from anyone person especially when there is no active mandates requiring masks in michigan. If logic is ignored and denied, ignorance will prosper as is the case at joes pizza. read more

The food is a decent version of NY pizza. I'm from Jersey and we challenge NYC on pizza. This is not a real restaurant : it is like a pickup ghost kitchen with paper plates and no where to sit. Or reasonably park. Do you want to park a few blocks away on a parking ramp and then walk to Joe's for takeout? I second the reviewer who recommended the (run down) NYPD that has a wide menu and casual seating. Avoid NYPD bathrooms. read more

When I saw that Joe's pizza had a spot in Michigan i was excited! Very good traditional NYC slices, very fast service & amazing staff team. The place is always a good vibe when there, can be a little crowded Friday/Saturday nights since it's on Campus, but the staff team has everyone in & out real quick read more

I can not express my gratitude for choosing Ann Arbor to be your first location out of the Big Apple. You will forever have long lines and hungry students to satisfy. Your beautifully charred and airy crust, salty cheese and simple toppings will keep the kids coming. Okay and me, not a college student, but a lover of the folded slice who will circle for a parking spot and dodge the crowds of fraternity and sorority members. I'll even forgo complaining about the wobbly high tops... hint hint. Next time its the whole pie i'm taking home How did we get so lucky!? read more

We were extremely excited to try this place only to find it an average run-of-the-mill pizza place unlike all the other reviews hav e reported. The dough was edible but not special. The sauce made from a sweeter brand of tomatoes. It wasn't sugary, per se, but sweeter than we're used to as we got a side of sauce like we usually do. The reason I deducted another star is when I got a slice of mushroom pizza, instead of fresh mushrooms, they topped it with canned mushrooms. A very huge pet peeve of mine when it comes to pizza is to use canned mushrooms. We verified that were are canned. Canned, but sauteed, said an employee. I would go to another place rather than here as this is not like the nyc pizza i've had in nyc...if it could even be called that. read more

Awful customer service. They should be ashamed of themselves. After an hour and a half waiting for my delivery that was supposed to take 35 minutes, I called back and was simply told "we're joes, we're busy" and hung up on. Not worth the money or the disappointment. read more

I noticed this shiny new pizza store as I passed by one day, and decided to drop in to try a slice! Apparently this is linked to a very popular and established (since 1975) New York pizza chain, and is the first store of the chain opened outside of New York. And what matches pizza better than a university town? This place apparently has a ton of male fans. I noticed that there were probably 3 females in a swamped store when I walked in. It's set up for eating at cocktail tables standing, or at narrow countertops. Definitely a grab and chomp or grab and go place. Each pizza slice itself was bigger than average - which is compensated for by the fact that the slices are quite thin crusted. The slices were served on standard disposable paper plates, and the edges of a slice of pizza hung out a little over the sides of the plates. As I walked in around 2pm, pizzas were still being generated from the oven. It was great that as you order a slice of pizza from the display counter, the staff put it back in the oven to reheat it for your consumption. I got two slices, one Supreme and one Caprese: - I enjoyed the mix of ingredients on the Supreme, with pepperoni, thinly-sliced sausage and mushrooms and onions. - The mozzarella slices on the Caprese were nicely gooey when I got to them and they tasted fresh, but I felt that there could have been more green on the Caprese to balance out the taste - the slight amount of greens were crispily wilted from the oven when I bit in. I really liked the taste of the dough of this pizza (could be eaten on its own), though there were some annoying burnt bits. Two things that could be improved about this place: 1) Credit card is accepted only for orders above $5, but most of the pizza slices cost less than that. The higher end slices were $4.75 per slice. So you're incentivised to buy more than a slice of pizza (you can buy two slices, or add some sugary liquid to your caloric intake) in order to avoid carrying around cash. 2) They don't label the pizzas, or what's on them. So that can cause some confusion as you make your order, if you're trying to figure out what exactly is on the pizzas or how much they cost before you choose the one for you. read more

Wanted to taste what the buzz around town was for myself and boy am I glad I did. It was my first time having a special New York style pizza and I didn't know what exactly to expect. I nevertheless gave it a try and wowww. This is pizza. It was a huge thin slice that was well balanced and tasted good. It looked like the movies in New York exactly. The taste wasn't overbearing. It was balanced with sauce to cheese to crust. The price is fair for what you get. I will be back here again and again for more good pizza. read more

Definitely the best pizza in Ann Arbor. Open late and a variety of selections for a slice. You can choose to get a slice or a whole pie which is convenient depending on how hungry you are. The Pizza itself tastes great-thin crust with simple ingredients that work well together. My personal favorite is either the cheese or the mozzarella pie. The decor is also great with pictures of celebs lining the walls. The only knock that I have is the lines can get pretty long during the late-night rush.But if you are ever craving a NYC-style Pizza in AA then Joe's is definitely the spot to go. read more

I had such a good experience until today. A girl at the front wanted to charge me for 4 slices of pizza even though I got 2 slices I have camera proof. At the ends one of the guys pushed me to the side with a table without telling me or asking me to move when I was outside. Never had this experience until today. read more

Absolutely delicious pizza! There are a few tables to sit at inside and the place is not much to look at, but the pizza is amazing. Grab a slice or a pie to go and you won't be sorry. They also sell pop in glass bottles, which elevates the experience. Can't complain about the price either. Overall 100% recommend. read more

I am thoroughly impressed by the quality and speed of Joe's Pizza. Not being from New York, I've never heard of this place but I truly wish this came earlier in my college career What I got: - Pepperoni - Supreme Tbh, these were very standard choices considering their selection. They had multiple cheese pizzas but being lactose intolerant...I didn't want to ruin the rest of my day. The NY-style thin pizza was unbelievably crispy and good. The sizes are huuuge, that I literally had to have 2 plates and even then they barely stayed on. I would say my only gripe is their long lines and price. Their average price per slice is around ~$4 which I think is too expensive. Considering dominos offers entire medium pizzas for $6, I'm not sold on the price. The food came out fast, and it was super good! I highly recommend this place if you're looking for quality, if you want quantity I would look somewhere else. read more

I was ecstatic when Joe's pizza finally came to Ann Arbor. I haven't tried Joes in New York City but I've had other New York style pizza during my time in the city. I'd definitely say that Joes definitely gives me the same taste, textures and flavors as the pizzas in New York City! I'd highly recommend everyone to try this place. Only downside is that the pizza is a bit pricey but what can you really do about that. read more

Best NYC style pizza in Ann Arbor full stop. Runs circles around South U (RIP). Thin, crispy, but somehow still perfectly doughy. Best slice- Plain cheese or pepperoni. Supreme is also fantastic. The caprese gets a bit too crisp for me. Detroit style is...well this is a NYC joint so...go to Buddy's for that. Or learn to like real pizza. read more

Solid NYC style pizza. Have only done delivery but the pizza came quickly and was still very fresh. The pies are a bit pricey ($25 for a single topping pie via Uber Eats) but they're huge! Having such large pies would make me skeptical about the taste but Joe's does not cut corners. The pizza packs a ton of flavor in every bite. read more

I wish I could leave 0 stars. I spent $48 on a pep pizza with half onion green pepper and a garlic bread. Not only is the cost hilarious but even more funny, I grab the clear container with a white/yellow product next to the red pepper flakes and oregano (assuming it was parmesan) like anyone would. Surprise, garlic powder. Ruined my entire pizza and they didn't give half a s***. Like who in the world wants garlic powder on there pizza. I wish I could just get my money back. Girlfriend asked for ranch and they don't have ranch in house. This is a shame. Worst experience I've ever had. For me to write a review means the world because not only do we own 4 pizza shops but we have a bbq restaurant and I'm beside myself read more

This is the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. I always loved pizza but never ever had such perfect pizza where I can feel full but not feel uneasy. During this quarantine days this is the kind of food I was looking for. Perfection at its best. They are open for delivery or takeout and they are following the precautionary measures. So we opted for takeout but we had to be there to order. They didn't take orders on phone. I am not sure if it was because of a busy Friday night or that's the rule. Any way so we went there and ordered two cheese pizza slices, two pepperoni and two mozzarella slices and omg !!! They are all superb, superb. The thin crust New York style was just so perfect that I didn't feel that I was having a pizza. It was thin but soft. The base of the pizza the tomato sauce was another perfectly cooked addition which is balanced with flavour without adding much salt or spice. Lastly the cheese. One word to describe is excellent. It was fresh. Lastly the portion sizes are way to big. That was the reason we chose to order slices ($3) not Pie ($20). But it would be nice to order a pie for a party. It's not expensive specially when you compare and consider the quality. I almost tried many pizza places locally and even when we go for vacation pizza is something we all order. It's the easiest option to have on the go. But I never ever experienced this deliciousness from a pizza honestly. The most interesting part for me is this is a classic pizza joint. They don't offer variety of menu and flavours and tons of toppings. They offer simple classic delicious fresh pizza from the oven. Joes pizza just spoiled me for the rest of my life. I don't think I can ever have pizza from anywhere else other than Joes. It is a wonderful addition to Ann Arbor's restaurant business. read more

honestly, their cheese pizza is unmatched. if I was just rating the cheese, I would give it a 9-9.5/10! definitely need to order this if you go. the other pizzas with toppings were just okay, not as special I would say and tastes comparable to other chains. i like that the pizza isn't super floppy and has good structure i've had the joes in new york and i'm proud to say that the ann arbor store's pizza quality is comparable! definitely worth a stop read more

It's not just *a* jumbo slice joint, it's *the* jumbo slice joint-- perfect for whenever I'm looking to relive my early 20's at 12 AM after pub trivia. The caprese pizza is phenomenal and easily my favorite pie in Ann Arbor to just eat for dinner. The large is a great value for the money, and easily feeds three of us with leftovers for that perfect cold pizza breakfast the next day. Everyone has always been incredibly friendly when I've been in, and my orders have always been correct and delicious! I have had to wait 10+ minutes on a few occasions despite pre-ordering for pickup at a certain time, which can be a little tricky with the parking/construction situation in that part of town. I didn't mind since I wasn't in a rush, you just might want to factor in a few extra minutes if you go the pickup route. read more

Free delivery, by calling 734-213-5625 is my favorite new option at Joes. Great place to grab a slice while visiting Ann Arbor or the University of Michigan. The famous Joes NYC, this is the first one in the US outside of manhattan. Walls are lined with cool murals, and the photos of all celebrities that have eaten at Joes NYC. Slices range from $3-4.75 or whole pies are $20-28. Salads are $7 for the small and $25 for the family. $5 minimum to use credit cards so make sure to bring some cash or plan on getting more than one slice. Pie is the perfect amount for 3-4 people I have found and you do save money for buying an entire pie. Favorite is the Caprese or the Fresh Mozzarella. read more

Another New York pizza place in Ann Arbor is always a welcome thing...it has been a while since a new one opened up. Joe's is a well known business from NYC and their quality and flavor reflect their expertise at making nice, big, foldable slices with top quality toppings. Love the long sliced onions and tasty pepperoni. The little cups of cheese or pepper flakes make me miss the old days of Ann Arbor pizza. Beware the location is around the corner and you have to look for it. A little bit spendy for what it is - 2 pizzas for $63.00 ouchy dollars....guys, there is a Restaurant Depot in the area now. We did take-out so we don't have anything to add with regards to service or atmosphere. But the pizza was ready when promised. These things are HEAVY! And cheese laden. Certainly not for every day consumption but as a cheesy treat, Anthony's can't be beat.

After looking at different caterers, we chose Pizza Replicator to cater the party of 85. We were having trouble working with the venue to allow the caterer to find a place to cook the pizzas. Max contacted the venue and worked out all the details. On the day of the event, he and his staff arrived promptly and started with the appetizers which were outstanding. Once he transitioned to pizza, the pizzas were continuously replaced until everyone had eaten. Everyone raved about the food. We couldn't be happier about hiring Max and his team and couldn't recommend him enough.

There are all kinds of pizza places…read more If Ann Arbor has a pizza style, it's thick, cheesy, and really meant for the college crowd. Detroit's pizza was conceived with auto workers in mind. In New York, slices are for folding and eating while on the go, because... well... I guess that's what capitalism does to you. Pizza Replicator is replicating none of these pizzas. Nope. It's just a Star Trek TNG inspired pizza concept where Max Sussman gets to have a little bit of fun with seasonal ingredients, dough, and some portable pizza ovens. Personally, I love to support pizza innovation. Max's pizza is about as good as it can be considering it's cooked up in the back of a coffee shop on any given Sunday. More than anything, I want Max to get a permanent home here in A2 with a legit Neapolitan oven where he can really get some better color on the bottoms of those pies. I've had a few of these so far. Italian sausage with pepperoncini, provolone, and broccoli rabe. Brussels and guanciale with aged gouda, fresh mozzarella, and garlic. Soujouk and Za'atar with onion and green zhug. Asparagus and gruyere with meyer lemon, caramelized onion, and pine nuts. Spanish Chorizo, manchego, roasted peppers. My favorite one to date was the meyer lemon. Dang, that was deliciously unexpected! But those crispy nuggets of guanciale were dynamite too! Ultimately, these are designed to be take out pies, and I'm just not a take out pizza kinda guy. Because I believe pizza is best when it's fresh hot now, I grab my pie, b-line to my parked car, and eat the pizza in the driver's seat like a savage beast. Even when I have shown up early for my scheduled pizza pick up, I have had little luck in getting super hot pies with crisp edges and well colored bottoms. Recently I learned that one can request the pizza "well done" and I am looking forward to giving that a try. But I love the culinary creativity and I am happy to keep trying Max's new pies when my Sunday schedule lines up with available pizza slots. One has to keep an eye on the Pizza Replicator Instagram page and move quickly, because these things sell out. I have gotten over my FOMO, and am happy to simply sample these pizzas when the stars align. Which, you know, is why I'm comfortable to share this with the Yelp Community. Max's efforts are hardly a secret as they were just recently covered in the food press. But yet there is no listing on Yelp?
