Joe's is neither the best pizza I've ever had or the worst I've ever had. I suspect it's not even the best pizza in Maspeth, a hood loaded with slices and pie spots on what feels like every block. However, pizza competition being as heavy as it is in NYC, Joe's is functional. At some point, pizza is fun to eat no matter what state its in. I think what I appreciate about Joe's immediately is the price. Most of their signature pies barely eclipse the $20 mark and much of the menu is very affordable. Naturally, the delivery is free. That said, it's not all that fast. I recommend coming in and going with the take out option. What puts Joe's at a 3 for me is the pizza itself. It is decent but average at best. The variety is pretty standard stuff, but nothing has really stood out for me. I have had some good results with their buffalo chicken pie and the white pie had piles of creamy ricotta on it. I won't lie, their most expensive pie is the stuffed pizza, which is a cornucopia of meats, veggies, with onions, etc but is more heavy than it is delicious. They've supposedly been around for almost 50 years and the old school interior certainly reflects that. The service is friendly on some days, but I venture their phone manners could be spruced up a tad. I'm sure I'll be back at Joe's at some point, hopefully not sober either. read more

This review is only for their empanadas! I haven't tried anything else from here yet, but the empanadas are all I need. The cheese empanadas is so tasty! It's slightly garlicky and super cheesy and warm and gooey inside. The outside is perfectly crispy because it's a fried empanada! It's a bit oily but I feel like that comes with the territory so I'm okay with it. Definitely if you come here try their empanadas! read more

The pizzas will always need to order he never had pizza sitting around if you wanted a pizza you'll have to wait for him to make them. Just moved across the street from this place in Maspeth. I read the reviews here on Yelp and thought it sounded pretty promising. Since I am tough on Pizza places, I figured I'd give it a whirl and see if I could find a great spot right here. I am glad that I did. First of all, the walk in prices are really good. I ordered a large Sicilian with pepperoni and a half dozen knots and bottle of soda. The entire order was less than $25. The food was ready in 15 minutes an I walked over to grab my meal. I had just moved and hadn't started unpacking yet, so I asked for some utensils. Not only did they give me my food, but provided me with a paper bag of plates, cups and napkins. I thought it was nice because he gave me more than I needed. Now for the pizza. The consistency of the dough in this Sicilian was lovely. Very spongy, almost like a sourdough texture - not flavor. I'm not the best at describing bread type objects lol, but anyway, it wasn't the standard Sicilian which I would equate to a fudge like brownie. This was more cake-like which was good because it was thick but light. The sauce was delicious and the pie wasn't covered in grease. The knots were really good too. Very happy to be across from this spot, even though it might cause me to put on 20lbs. Great food and great customer service! read more

This place is just okay. Nothing special. Nothing to write home about. Just an average pizza spot. Not an authentic place. Ordered delivery from here last night. Was looking for a spot without a delivery fee and with a relatively low minimum for delivery. Joe's had both. They delivered in lightning speed which is great because I don't live exactly that close, but sometimes that speedy delivery is worrisome. They didn't have one of the items I originally ordered, a stuffed pizza slice with eggplant. They called me to let me know which was considerate. They said they could substitute it with a regular slice with eggplant. I obliged. The pizza was ehhh. I can tell they don't use good quality cheese here. The eggplant was very salty. The pizza was soggy, along with the Joe's Special Roll. That was a calzone filled with garlic sauteed spinach and mushrooms. If it wasn't for the sogginess of it, it would have been pretty good because the inside was yum. The house salad was a tin of iceberg lettuce topped with plenty of Giardiniera. That was a nice touch. Good way to spice up a boring salad. I asked for French dressing, they gave me Thousand Island. The baked ziti was lame. Not a real baked ziti in the least. Just some PENNE pasta and sauce (again, salty!!!) with mozzarella thrown on top. Where's the ricotta? Hey, can't expect much from a place like this. Would I order from here again? Probably not. I was driving around Queens on a day off from work and decided to swing by to look at my family's house (a few blocks away from here actually; three generations of them lived there!), when the hunger pangs started. I remembered there being a pretty decent pizzeria near my family's house and decided to give it a try after, oh, probably about 15 or so years since my last time. I also recalled there being a pretty bad pizzeria around here that put sesame seeds on their crust, and hoped that I hadn't mistakenly picked that one. the buffalo chicken slice I had was a bit thin and it eventually collapsed under the weight of so much buffalo chicken piled on it, but the flavor and texture was on point. sauce and cheese were pretty good also. I've ordered from Joe's a bunch of times over the past 6 months. They are courteous, Fast in Delivery, great prices and the food is great. Also if you order over $20 they usually throw in a free personal size cheese pizza. I love their Zucchini Sticks and ordered different pizzas and they are all good. The Stuffed pizza is to die for but not for the faint of heart, It is huge slices that will blow you away. Anyway they have earned me as a loyal customer. When you walk inside there's a counter of pizza that looks like it's been sitting out for days and not one Italian person in the whole place. It's no wonder the pizza is garbage! I don't understand the rave reviews some people have posted. The sauce is heated up out of a can and not seasoned, everything is always burnt, and the cheese is cheap and soo oily. Delivery was slow and we received our pizza cold and burnt. When we asked that they take back the food and bring us garlic knots that were not burnt and pizza that was hot, they delivered the same two items, still burnt and ice cold. We will never order from this place again. Shell out a couple more bucks for Joey's Pizza, they actually know what they're doing. read more

My husband & I have been eating the chicken cutlet Parmesan from this place for over 25 years, it is so good. It doesn't matter which of the pasta dishes you get with it. It's all good. We have NEVER been disappointed. And Joe is one of the nicest guy, he might be getting up there in years but he hasn't changed since the day I meet him. The person who takes the order might have hearing problems. This guy takes wrong the order and might have to repeat a lot of time. Besides that, your order will STILL BE WRONG! It is under new management. Old Joe is gone! :( I have gone numerous times since Joe has left, and the new management is HORRIBLE. The pizza is too greasy, and the garlic knots....not fresh. They literally taste about 3+ days old. I decided to give the garlic knots another try today, it is hard to bite through. Guys! Garlic knots are supposed to be soft, slightly garlicy and a bit moist. The sauce was way too sweet and there wasn't much of it. The garlic knots are made of a really light dough that burns very easily and doesn't hold the flavor of the garlic.. And I saw no pieces of garlic, so it might have been powder that they seasoned it with. read more

I'm a security officer who don't always bring food to work so upon googling pizza restaurants I came across Joeys pizza in maspeth flushing,by which I order from very often after having a long shift at work daily . However the first time I ordered from them I had an issue with my order I ordered ziti which I always order along with a carrot cake on the side and when the food gotten to me the cake was half of a baby slice which was not appealing to me and very distasteful which was $3:50 so I asked for my money back. Second issue the second time I called they send me ziti with no napkins or utensils to eat and upon me calling back the guy who usually answers the phone argues me down n tells me if the napkins and utensils are not requested they will not send them to the customers. Which raises several eyebrows to me because not only that y'all being cheap but also potentially loosing good customers not to mention the tips I usually give and also my entire work staff that I introduced to buying food from them and supporting the business. Beyond the poor customer service I still continue to order food from them along with my coworkers because on a hungry day the ziti was a bit filling But up on today 7/8/17 I ordered the same thing which I paid for with my credit card and that didn't want to give me my copy of receipt So upon me calling back the rude guy who answers the phone by which is only the worker not the owner Tells every time I call its an issue and he went further to tell me I'm not a security officer I'm only a security guard Which my response to him was there always been issue and not to call back anymore with y'all for the poor customer service and not being professional to the customers So I told make sure my copy of my receipt is here before my shift ends and then you'll see who's not a security officer when the police pulls up infront of your place of business. I ordered for the first time from here last week and had the chick parm. The chick parm was so fresh and the chicken was dreamily tender! The sauce was special as well. They had fresh veg in it to give it great flavor. It made up for mistakes made on the order. I ordered through an online delivery service and the owner or manager was good about refunding me $2.00 because of the mistake they made. My only caveat is be verrry clear about any special instructions. Hi guys. I was curious about the reviews about this place and didn't plan on writing one, but I am surprised for so much bad feedback. The staff here is friendly, casual. Food is from decent to very good to excellent. I've had once a pizza with oily cheese in another place and the whole piece went to the garbage. Joe's pizza is standard, very good. My favorite is a veal parm and fried zucchini but we in general like everything, and order the food all the time, and consistency is pretty good. Unless you are used to dining in the best french restaurants you'll find Joe's pizzeria more than adequate. read more

Living in a suburb of New York City I am never without a pizza joint. But the question is finding a good pizzeria. My neighborhood has four and luckily the one down the block from us is the best. It has to do with the sauce. You can tell it is made with love because it is so flavorful. Joe's has been in Maspeth for over thirty years. It looks like a regular pizza joint. Pics of famouse Italian actors, plastic table and chairs with red checker board table cloths. You can eat in or take out. This place is always empty for a reason. To begin they falsely say on the menu large pie when its the box that most pizzerias sell as medium. On top of that Joe's Pizzeria feels entitles to charge the price of a large pie(which is in fact a medium) for 13.00$ with "tax" on top of that. I live 2 blocks away and even when I want to resist, if I pass by on the way home from work the aroma usually draws me in. It is the best plain slice I've found in a long time, but add mushrooms and it's scrumptious. Joe is friendly, but no nonsense. He serves a variety of things, but don't ask for anything not on the menu. For example, no spinach pies, which I love, but he does have broccoli. Every slice is as good as the last and like a previous poster said...he makes it with love. If you just past by it might look like a hole in the wall but don't be turned off by the plain exterior/interior. It's not flashy, but it's darn good pizza. And I don't know what Joe does to the salad but there's nothing like it. It's just iceberg lettuce (which i don't usually eat but it's so freakin good) with his oil and white vinegar combo on top, with tomatoes. At least once a week I order the eggplant parmigana hero and I can't usually finish it. My boyfriend gets the chicken parm here. Seriously, it's very hard to not want to go back every night once you've had it. Most recently I tried the stuffed pizza: thin dough on top and bottom, filled with a little bit of chicken cutlets and lots of delicious, garlic-laden veggies that melt in your mouth with the cheese. It's my new favorite! Delivery is after 3pm only and he closes around 10 - 10:30. On Sundays he opens around 2 or 3pm. He's right across from Dunkin Donuts. Cash only! Not a great drink selection. Some snapples, and fountain drinks. I usually call ahead when I leave work so it's ready. Otherwise the heros take at least half an hour because everything is made fresh. Oh, and if you order the baked ziti, it doesn't come with ricotta cheese unless you ask first. The manicotti is good too. And just to update from below, I don't think he sells grocery items anymore, but he has sold me pizza dough around the holidays when my family was trying to make traditional Italian foods but the dough wouldn't rise. read more
