This is a good pizza. Especially for the area. Nothing to write home about, but enough to write a yelp review (ha!) Seriously, I ordered a half pepperoni half buffalo pizza AND garlic knots. It was good and came in the time the dude told me it would. The dough was just a little too thick for me. The garlic knots were great and were the perfect price (2 for $1- I believe) Next time I'll order a dish. That may bring the review down or up. Idk. I saw great reviews on their other items.

Bugs on my pizza ‍never eating from this place again I rather go to joes pizza

The penne a la vodka pizza is my favorite pizza in Brooklyn right now. I don't live anywhere near this place, yet I pay an outrageous delivery fee just to get two slices... And it's totally worth it (lol).

    Horrible tasting! Never again!

This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered from grub hub for delivery. It was the most atrocious experience. Garlic knots: Just tasted of stale dry bread! I think prison bread would be better. Brushetta: the most disgusting thing.... Wouldn't even feed it to my dog! The bread was completely soggy.. and the tomatoes were saturated with a sour nasty tasting brownish sauce. Bleeeekh I'm cringing just remembering the nightmare!! Artichoke Slice: Artichokes were straight out of a can and tasted preserved and that preserved can taste overpowered everything else... of course I spent my money on a restaurant to have that wonderful can food flavor.. yumm Vege Lasagna: full of veges which is a good thing, but it was completely bland and blah. It might be soo blah, it could be the cure for insomnia. Fettuccine Alfredo: So bland I had to use my pantry to make it edible. After a lot of doctoring this was the only thing I actually ate thank god for my saving seasoning. Lord help me, this was a brobdingnagian disappointment. Save your self! Run, run away folks and never return! Your palate and wallet will thank me!!

My first time ordering from here and I'm sad I didn't know about this place sooner as it's right up the block from my house. I ordered Shrimp Parmigiana w/ penne pasta and Fried Calamari and it was delicious. The pasta and sauce was fresh, while the shrimp was cooked to perfection and very cheesy. Not many places can make this well. The fried calamari was real calamari, which was very meaty and not over cooked. I also ordered zepoles for a snack they were also good. I can't wait to order again, and I'm very picky.

    Zeppoles

I bought zeppoles from here and it was uncooked. I will never buy from here again. My family and I had gotten stomach pains after eating this.

After I tried adding Parmesan. Inedible.

WORST PASTA EVER!!! I ordered Fettuccini Alfredo & I got a clump of dry sticky noodles with some cream on the bottom & a little bit of cheese sprinkled on top. It was also bland & tasteless. IT WAS INEDIBLE! To make matters worse when I called to complain they were "sorry, new chef, just for today." So I "just" threw away $15. DON'T ORDER FROM HERE! THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE AND THERE ARE NO REFUNDS! Oh but, they are sorry.

If you don't have time to cook, this is a good spot to pick up dinner. They have specialty dishes, seafood, burgers and many other selections. Inexpensive and a great place for kids.

    Buffalo Chicken Slice

Since I live in the neighborhood I frequent this establishment. The food is pretty hit or miss. On some days its mind blowing and on others I have to toss every bit of it away. The buffalo slice is always my go-to slice because its delicious! I also like the baked ziti with chicken cutlets but unfortunately the last time I had it about a week ago the sauce tasted unpleasant.

The pizzas were bland and the bottom of the pizza crust was wet or maybe the cheese oil soaked through and the zeppoles weren't good...

We came for dinner today and got lucky because the Sunday only special (Chicken Parm) was available so we ordered that and I decided to switch up my usual to the Spaghetti. My boyfriend loved the Chicken Parm and it comes on top of Vodka Pappardelle which was also delicious and the Spaghetti wasn't too heavy even though it was cream based. I wish they sold the Vodka pasta separately as an entree because I would order that as an entree on my next visit. Another fabulous dinner at Ammazzacaffe!

The sunchokes and apples are tossed in a creamy and slightly herbal dressing. Burrata - really great. The eggplant base is richly spiced and tart to complement the rich and creamy burrata. Gemelli - disappointing, and the only vegetarian option. The goat cheese totally overwhelms the dish, so you can't taste the pesto at all. The texture on the noodles was perfect at least. Passion project - delicious drink with notes of passion fruit, chocolate, and some spices. The others in my group also had the duck (which they found to be a bit overly loaded with duck fat) and the reginette (which they enjoyed). I'd love to see a more balanced vegetarian main course make it on the menu sometime. The bill for 4 people came to nearly $230 after tax and tip.

The room is small and romantic, homemade pasta hangs in the front window, and the whole evening felt less like dining out and more like being invited into someone's family table in Florence. We started with the fritto misto, a well executed mix of fried fish and vegetables, alongside an insalata caprese that let fresh tomatoes, burrata and basil speak for themselves. From there we went family style, which is really the only way to do it here. The bucatini cacio e pepe was as much performance as dish, mixed tableside directly in the cheese wheel. The fusilloni di Gragnano from Puglia paired scampi with burrata, cherry tomatoes and arugula for a bright, briny plate, while the tagliatelle verdi brought a rich wild boar ragu finished with fresh black truffle. The two standouts, though, were the agnolotti ossobuco with veal sauce and pecorino fondue rounded out with thyme and lemon, and the lasagna Bolognese. That lasagna, layered with meat ragu, tomato and bechamel, may be the best I have ever had. We paired the meal with a bottle of Salvioni 2022 Rosso di Montalcino, aromatic and beautifully matched to the food. The space is cozy and intimate rather than sprawling, so a reservation is a smart call. Everything else, from the food to the atmosphere to the sense that someone's nonna was cooking just for us, made this one of the most memorable meals in NYC. We would return without hesitation.

Note: reservations are not required but definitely suggested!! This place was packed. Every table sat, but a few chairs at the bar. I give this place 5 stars, EVERYTHING was lovely! The dim lights, (I love a dark and moody restaurant) noise level, talk-able but good music in the background, food, drinks, service.... all of it TOP NOTCH. Let's get into the deets.... I ordered the Portia cocktail... if you like Mezcal, you should definitely try this one. Smoky and a little sweet, it was a delicious drink We order Pinsa Bianca for appetizers, the bread, roasted peppers and whipped ricotta all made for a light but delish start. We then dove into the rib-eye (for 2) DELICIOUS ! One of the best steaks outside of a steakhouse I have had. The marbling gave it great flavor, salted well and the perfect char on the outside, it was accompanied by French fries and broccolini. All a great addition; The broccolini was surprisingly not too bitter which was nice. To round it off we ordered their version of a Lemon tart! It was the perfect level of sweet and tart! I can't say enough great things about the decor the ambience and imagining all of the past goings on in this restaurant. It's been watching over Brooklyn for well over 100 years now! That in itself is a Herculean feat! From what I was told it was very popular with the mob as they say... And that's why the kitchen which is at the very back of the restaurant has full glass windows so that you can see exactly what's going on in there. I guess some of these mob guys were paranoid and rightly so consider considering their history. I arrived with my friend on a Wednesday evening about 6 PM and there were some scattered tables but by 7 PM it was mobbed (pun intended ) in there!! our waiter was affable and patient and a quite enjoyable fellow. As a sidenote, you will not find any female servers they are all male which l lends to the old school vibe in my opinion. My friend ordered the lamb chops with broccoli Rabe. He enjoyed them but did mention that though they had great flavor one of them was slightly tough... It happens... My meal was pasta with Bolognese sauce with a dollop of fresh ricotta on top. It was delicious actually the sauce was excellent. I would've liked to have a different pasta shape but they did not have it. No biggie. I could really say the food was very good but it was not excellent but for me that was not an issue as I fell in love with the place itself. The service was excellent and the ambience was fantastic! I would definitely return again and I highly recommend it if you have never been you must at least go one time!!
